The Child Who Misses Home

Liuli finally finished all the subject exams.

There was only one word to describe that feeling, and that was… liberation!

As the saying went, if one usually slacked off, one would have to make a last-minute ditch effort.

Liuli was this type of person!

It was only during the final exam that she realized that she skipped many classes and read few books ever since she started university.

Therefore, out of fear of failing her classes, she spent the last two weeks in the library, dormitory, or canteen.

She wanted to successfully pass the final exam!

Sigh, it wasn’t entirely her fault.

It was because she had been too stressed out in high school.

Her high school teacher kept saying that things were tough now, but when they started university in the future, they would be free and at that time, they could have as much fun as they wanted.

She believed her teacher’s words and did as she was told.

Now, she realized that her teacher’s words were a lie.

Fortunately, she corrected her mistake in time to prevent more serious consequences.

After the final exam, although she didn’t dare to say that she could get a high score, she would definitely pass.

Perhaps she could even get an A in a few of them.

After the exam, Liuli called home immediately.

“Liuli’s grandma, Dad, Liuli’s mom, I’m done with final exams. I can go back tomorrow. Hurry up and transfer me the money to buy a plane ticket!”

“You’re coming back tomorrow, right?” Liuli’s mom asked from the other end of the line.

“Yes, I’ve finished all my exams today, so I can go back tomorrow. If you book tomorrow morning’s flight, I can eat lunch at home,” Liuli replied happily.

“Don’t, don’t, don’t come back on your own,” her mother said quickly.

“Liuli’s mom, I’m 18, not 8!” Liuli was speechless.

“So what if you’re 18 years old? There are many university students being kidnapped nowadays. Just listen to me and don’t come back alone.

I’ll get someone to pick you up!” Liuli’s mom advised on the other end of the line.

“Don’t let Dad pick me up. He’s too playful, so the two of us will forget our way home again!” Liuli immediately said.

It was quite pitiful for a father to be called ‘too playful’ by his daughter!

However, there was a story behind this.

Her father was a typical upstart. He was rich and idle now.

Moreover, she was their only daughter. Coincidentally, she looked like her mother.

When she first reported for university, her father had sent her to school.

In the end, she almost missed the university registration day.

Because of this, his father was scolded by her mother when he went back!

“It’s not your father who will pick you up. He asked a friend to go. His surname is Tang.

He’s coming back for the new year, so he’ll come back with you!”

“Oh, then pick me up earlier! I want to go back early!” Liuli said excitedly.

“Got it. Why are you so homesick?!” Liuli’s mom muttered.

Liuli immediately felt aggreieved. What was wrong with being homesick?
