The aroma of freshly brewed tea filled the air as Jin stood in the kitchen, preparing snacks for their guests. He wiped his hands on a towel when he heard a firm knock at the door.
"I think theyâre here," he muttered to himself before making his way to the entrance.
As he opened the door, a warm smile graced his lips. "Hello, welcome, Mr. & Mrs. Min. Please come inside. Jungkook, you too."
The Min family stepped inside, their presence bringing a sense of formality and warmth into the grand Kim mansion. They exchanged pleasantries before settling on the luxurious sofas in the living room, the conversation naturally flowing toward Taehyung and Jungkookâs marriage.
Jungkook, however, seemed distracted, his eyes subtly scanning the space. His mother, Mrs. Min, didnât miss the way his gaze flickered toward the staircase every now and then. A knowing smile played on her lips.
"Kookie, whatâs the matter?" she asked, feigning innocence.
Jungkook, caught off guard, quickly straightened up. "Uhh⦠n-nothing, just⦠a glass of water," he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.
Mrs. Min chuckled, shaking her head. "But the water bottle is right in front of you, dear."
Jin and Namjoon exchanged amused glances. They knew exactly who Jungkook was searching for.
"Wait, Iâll call him," Namjoon said, pulling out his phone to summon his son downstairs.
Jungkook, impatiently tapping his fingers on his knee, thought to himself, Please hurry up, Iâm dying to see him.
A moment later, footsteps echoed down the hallway. Taehyung entered the room alongside Jimin, both boys greeting Mr. and Mrs. Min politely before taking their seatsâTaehyung beside Jungkook, and Jimin beside Jin.
Min Family & Taehyungâs Interaction
Taehyung sat nervously beside Jungkook on the plush couch in the Min mansionâs living room. It wasnât his first time meeting Jungkookâs parents, but this time felt different. They were no longer just Jungkookâs parentsâthey were soon going to be his family too.
Mrs. Min studied Taehyung with a warm smile, her gaze filled with admiration. "My, my, youâre even more beautiful up close."
Taehyung blinked in surprise, a small blush creeping onto his cheeks. "T-Thank you, Mrs. Min."
"Oh, dear, call me Mom!" she insisted, reaching forward to gently take his hands. "You're part of our family now. And with a face like this, Jungkook is truly lucky."
Jungkook smirked, wrapping an arm around Taehyungâs waist. "I know Iâm lucky, Mom. But donât flatter him too much, or heâll get even more confident."
Taehyung scoffed playfully, flipping his hair. "Excuse me? Iâm already perfect, thank you very much."
Mrs. Min laughed, clearly enjoying Taehyungâs personality. "Oh, I love him already! Jungkook, I swear if you ever make him cry, I will disown you and keep Taehyung instead."
Jungkook gasped dramatically. "Wow! Betrayal by my own mother?"
Mr. Min, who had been silently observing with an amused expression, finally spoke. "Sheâs right, you know. Taehyung is charming, polite, and beautiful. Weâre happy to welcome him into the family."
Taehyung looked between them, his heart warming at their words. He had never expected such instant acceptance.
"I⦠Iâll take good care of Jungkook, I promise," he said sincerely, looking at Mr. and Mrs. Min.
Mrs. Min cupped his face gently. "And weâll take care of you, sweetheart. You're not just marrying Jungkook; you're becoming our son too."
Taehyung felt a lump in his throat. He had always craved a loving family, and now, he had one.
"Thank you," he whispered, squeezing Jungkookâs hand tightly.
Jungkook smiled, kissing Taehyungâs temple. "Welcome to the Min family, baby."
As the discussion about wedding preparations continued, Mrs. Minâs gaze kept drifting toward Jimin. She observed him closelyâthe way he spoke, the soft kindness in his eyes, and the gentle smile he carried. She admired his beauty, but more than that, she felt an inexplicable curiosity about him.
After some time, she finally asked, "Who's he?" pointing toward Jimin.
Jimin, caught off guard by the attention, blinked. His shyness was evident as he looked toward Jin, unsure if he should answer.
Jin smiled warmly. "Heâs also my son."
Namjoon added with a proud smile, "His name is Jimin, but we call him Chim."
Mrs. Minâs eyes twinkled as she admired the boy further. "Heâs so cute and beautiful. Both of your sons are stunning," she said genuinely.
Jimin blushed lightly at the compliment. "Thank you, Auntie," he responded politely.
Mrs. Min leaned toward her husband and whispered, "What if our Yoon gets married to Chim?"
Mr. Min, who had been thinking along the same lines, nodded subtly. "I was also thinking the same thing. Letâs talk about it."
Without hesitation, Mrs. Min turned to the Kims with a hopeful expression. "What if our son marries Chim?"
The room fell silent for a beat.
Jiminâs eyes widened in shock. "W-what?" he stuttered.
Jin, caught off guard, glanced at Jungkook in confusion. "Jungkook?" he asked, wondering if this was some sort of mistake.
Jungkook, equally surprised, shook his head. "No, no⦠Mom isnât talking about me. She means my older brotherâYoongi."
Jimin sat frozen in place, his mind racing at the sudden proposal. His hands instinctively curled into the fabric of his pants as he tried to process what was happening.
"Chim, are you okay with this, baby?" Jin's gentle voice pulled him from his thoughts. His appa was looking at him with hopeful eyes, while Namjoon observed him with quiet curiosity.
Jimin blinked, still overwhelmed. "I⦠I don't know," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper.
"There's no rush, sweetheart," Mrs. Min reassured him with a warm smile. "We just think our Yoongi could use someone as kind and loving as you in his life."
Jimin's head snapped up. "Y⦠Yoongi?" he echoed, confusion evident in his expression.
"Yes, our eldest son, Min Yoongi," Mr. Min clarified with a small chuckle. "I'm sure you've heard of him. Heâs been quite busy with work lately, but heâs a good man."
"Jimin, sweetheart?" Jin's concerned voice broke through the haze.
"I justâ¦" Jimin hesitated, his fingers gripping the edge of the couch. "I didnât expect this."
"I understand," Mrs. Min said kindly. "Weâre not forcing you, dear. Just think about it, alright?"
Jimin nodded, though his thoughts were far from calm. The idea of marrying someone he barely knew was already daunting
Jimin sat quietly, his fingers tracing invisible patterns on his lap as his thoughts swirled. His life had always been difficultâsince childhood, he had known nothing but loneliness. He had never seen the faces of his real parents, never felt the warmth of a family until now. The orphanage had been nothing more than a place to survive, and the world had shown him nothing but hardship.
But then, Taehyung came into his life. And with Taehyung came Jin and Namjoon, who treated him like their own son. For the first time, he had a familyâpeople who truly loved him, people who took care of him, people who would do anything for his happiness.
And now, when he saw the hope in their eyes, the happiness at the thought of his marriage, how could he say no? If this was what made them happy, he could do it. He owed them everything.
Besides, if he got married, then maybe⦠just maybe, he could finally be safe.
He wouldnât have to keep running. He wouldnât have to keep hiding from himâfrom that mafia leader who had been searching for him relentlessly. If he became the Min family's son-in-law, there was no way the mafia would dare to touch him.
Jimin exhaled softly, his mind made up.
"Chim, what happened, bub?" Namjoonâs gentle voice pulled him from his thoughts. The older man looked at him with concern, his brows furrowed slightly. "If you donât want to do this marriage, itâs okay, baby. Weâre not forcing you into anything. The only thing that matters is your happiness. We just suggested it because we think Yoongi is a good boy. Iâve known him for a long time, and I believe youâd like him if you got to know him."
Jimin bit his lip, hesitating.
The Kim and Min families had known each other for years. Namjoon and Yoongi had first met three years ago at a business event. Over time, they had grown closer, and their companies had formed a strong partnership. Namjoon respected Yoongiâs intelligence, admired his work ethic, and considered him trustworthy.
But what Namjoon didnât know was that Yoongiâthe same man he trustedâwas the infamous mafia leader Suga.
Jimin swallowed hard. If he agreed to this marriage, it would mean stepping into a life completely unknown to him. A life with a man he had never encountered.
But his appa was looking at him with such hope, such love. Jinâs expression was equally soft, waiting patiently for his response. They werenât pressuring him, but they wanted this for him.
And Jimin⦠he wanted to make them happy.
With a small smile, he nodded. "N-nothing⦠Iâm okay with this. I donât have any problem with marriage."
For a second, silence filled the room. Thenâ
"Really?" Jin gasped, his eyes widening in excitement.
Namjoon let out a relieved chuckle. "Oh, baby, you donât have to say yes just for us."
Jimin shook his head, forcing his smile to widen. "No, I mean it. If you both think this is good for me, then I trust you."
Mrs. Min clapped her hands together happily. "Oh, dear, that makes me so happy! Youâre such a wonderful boy, Jimin. I just know Yoongi will love you."
"Yes, sweetheart," Mr. Min added, his expression warm. "Our son⦠heâs been alone for a long time. He needs someone like you in his life."
Jimin lowered his gaze, still feeling an unfamiliar tightness in his chest.
They thought he was just a simple university student. They thought Yoongi was a businessman.
Neither of them knew the truth.
And yet, Jimin still found himself whispering, "I hope so too."
The Wedding Announcement
The atmosphere in the Kim mansion buzzed with excitement. Everyone sat together in the grand living room, discussing details about the upcoming wedding. Mrs. Min, practically glowing with joy, clapped her hands together.
"Okay, the weddings and the engagement will both be held next week!" she announced excitedly.
The room fell silent for a brief moment before Jungkook and Taehyung, who were sitting side by side, spoke at the same time.
"We don't have any problem!" they said in unison.
A beat of silence passed before the entire room burst into laughter. Jungkook and Taehyung exchanged a look, realizing how in sync they had sounded, and immediately blushed in embarrassment.
"You two really are made for each other," Mr. Min chuckled, shaking his head.
Meanwhile, Jimin sat quietly, lost in thought. Everything was happening so fast. He had only just learned about his engagement, and now the wedding was only a week away? But then a thought struck himâif I marry someone else, that mafia wonât be able to do anything to me. Iâll be safe.
"Chim, weâre getting married in the same house! I'm so happy we'll be living together," Taehyung said excitedly, nudging Jiminâs shoulder.
Jimin blinked, pulled from his thoughts. He forced a small smile. "Yeahâ¦" he replied absentmindedly.
Taehyung frowned, sensing something off. "Arenât you excited, Chim?"
Jimin hesitated. He opened his mouth to speak but found himself unsure of what to say. "Umm⦠Noâ¦"
Jin, who had been watching Jimin carefully, noticed the hesitation and concern flickered across his face. "Chim, do you have any problem with this marriage?" Jin asked gently, his tone laced with fatherly concern.
Jimin swallowed. He should be happy, right? He finally had a family, and they were arranging a marriage for him. Shouldnât he be grateful? Shouldnât he trust their decision? And if I get married⦠Sugaâno, that mafiaâwonât be able to touch me.
Snapping out of his thoughts, he looked up at Jin and shook his head. "Umm⦠No, Appa. Whatever you decide for me is good," he said with an honest smile.
Mrs. Min let out a relieved sigh, her face beaming with joy. "Oh, Jimin, you donât know how happy I am! I was so worried about Yoongi. He never comes home, and heâs all alone. But now, heâll have you. Youâll take care of him, love him. And I believe you can change him."
Jiminâs smile faltered for a split second. Change him? He barely knew the man, and he had no idea what kind of person he truly was. But he nodded anyway, not wanting to ruin the happiness on their faces.
"Okay, then it's final! The wedding will be next week!" Mr. Min declared, raising his glass.
The room erupted in cheers. Jungkook and Taehyung were grinning ear to ear, while Jin and Namjoon shared a proud look. Mrs. Min held Jiminâs hand warmly, squeezing it in excitement.
"Letâs celebrate with something sweet!" Jin clapped his hands, and the house staff quickly brought out traditional desserts.
After dinner, the Min family prepared to leave. Jungkook gave Taehyung a tight hug before stepping outside with his parents.
"See you soon, my fiancé," Taehyung teased, winking.
Jimin watched them go, a small smile on his lips, but inside, a storm of emotions swirled. Next week, he would be married to a man he didnât even know.
And worse⦠he had no idea that man was actually the mafia boss he had been running from.
