Chapter 51

Cold Showers

JAYDA

^A FEW DAYS LATER^

Jayda was going through some files at her desk when she felt a weird movement in her belly.

At first, she got scared, hoping nothing bad was happening to her daughter. She gently placed her hand on her belly. When she felt the movement again, happy tears welled up in her eyes at the realization of what had just happened.

“She moved!”

Her baby girl had kicked!

Jayda wanted to go to the rooftop and shout to the whole world that she felt her baby move for the first time.

Smiling like crazy, she called Sebastian.

“It hasn’t even been up to two hours, and you’re missing me already,” Sebastian teased.

“Sorry to burst your ego, my dear fiancé, but I wasn’t missing you. I just called to let you know the latest about your daughter.”

“Is anything the matter? Do you need me to come over?” Sebastian asked, already on alert.

“Nothing is wrong, Seb. She moved. I felt her tiny kicks.”

“Are you for real?” She could picture him with a priceless smile.

Jayda nodded. Remembering he could not see her, she replied, “Yes, and it feels so amazing. I think she was trying to tell me how much she loves me and thank me for taking good care of her.”

“I wish I was there with you to experience her first kick.”

“Me too. Don’t worry, you’ll experience more of her kicks.” Jayda assured him.

JAYDA

^LATER THAT EVENING^

They’d finally moved into their new home and started settling in. Usually, Aaron was good about going right to bed, but tonight he was too excited after Jayda informed him that she felt his little sister move. He wanted to feel her move too.

“Come on, sissy, it’s Aaron, your big brother. I want to feel you move.” Aaron pouted with his hands on Jayda’s bump.

Jayda laughed as she watched her two loves try everything they could to get a kick from the unborn girl.

“She couldn’t be sleeping right? It’s just a few minutes past eight?” Sebastian pouted, looking at Jayda. He wanted to feel their little miracle move so bad.

“I have no idea,” Jayda replied with a soft smile.

“What are we going to do, Aaron?” Sebastian asked.

Aaron thought for a minute, and an idea struck him.

“I have an idea, Daddy. I’ll sing for her, and you will shower Mama’s belly with kisses, okay?”

Sebastian stole a glance and Jayda shrugged.

“Okay, son.” He gave in.

SEBASTIAN

As soon as Aaron started singing, Seb started showering romantic kisses on Jayda’s bump. A few seconds later, Sebastian felt a kick. He sat up with a grin.

“Wow.” Aaron’s eyes lit up with excitement as soon as he felt the kick.

“Mama, sissy kicked! She liked the song.” Aaron grinned.

“I think she does.” Jayda smiled at her little Aaron.

Sebastian continued to shower Jayda’s belly with light kisses. He was really overwhelmed; he could feel his daughter making some light movements, and the feeling was amazing.

“Do you think sissy wants juice, Daddy? She can have mine, it’s in the fridge,” Aaron offered.

Sebastian smiled as he removed some strands of hair that fell across Aaron’s face.

“She’s okay for now, buddy. I think we actually disturbed her sleep.”

“Oh!” Aaron exclaimed.

Seb and Aaron snuggled up to Jayda on either side.

“Mama, Daddy, what are we going to call sissy?”

Sebastian and Jayda looked at each other with shy smiles. Their baby’s name was something they’ve never discussed.

JAYDA

“Daddy and I are still thinking about a name for your sister. Do you have any name in mind?” Jayda asked, interested.

“Maybe we can call her Sophie or Alexa,” Aaron suggested.

The trio talked about names until Aaron fell asleep and they took him to his room to tuck him into bed.

“I’m impressed with the names you suggested. I wonder why you never said anything before now.” Jayda slid into their bed beside Sebastian.

Sebastian shrugged. “I wasn’t sure you’d like the names.”

“I love them all.” She kissed his cheek.

Sebastian pulled her close to snuggle. “We didn’t start off on the right foot, but I’m so glad that we’re good now. I’m sorry for everything I put you through. That was honestly not the real me.”

“I almost went insane when I found out I was pregnant, but now, she’s the best thing that has ever happened to me. Feeling her move gives me another reason to be grateful. I love you, Sebastian. You, Aaron, and our baby girl complete me. Thanks for giving me the best life I never dreamed of.”

Nothing was going to come between them ever again.

JAYDA

Jayda stopped work when she was almost eight months pregnant. Sebastian worked from home and only went to the office when he had important meetings with clients.

Other than that, he was always by Jayda’s side, taking care of her and most importantly, entertaining her. Aaron also did most of the entertaining. He spent weekends at their house, and both Sebastian and Jayda were discovering the joys of parenthood.

Lilian took it upon herself to throw Jayda a huge surprise baby shower with the help of her family. All Jayda did that day was shed tears of joy. She wondered how she ended up with amazing people in her life.

Jayda’s ninth month of pregnancy was the hardest for her. She hardly slept or had an appetite to eat anything. Her feet were always swollen, and sometimes she had headaches. But she was able to cope under Sebastian and Aaron’s care. Her boys gave her the strength to keep going even when she was tired and wanted Ariella to come out already.

“Oh!” Jayda cried at last as the first pain rippled through her.

Sebastian was by her side at once. “What’s wrong, my love?”

Jayda looked at him with a mixture of pride, fear, and joy. “I just had a...oh...contraction!”

As she doubled over with her hands on her belly, Jayda cried out again in pain. She looked concerned, which worried Sebastian.

“We need to go,” Jayda said in a hoarse voice. “Right now.”
