Epilogue

Cold Showers

JAYDA

^ONE YEAR LATER^

Jayda Miller considered herself one of the luckiest people on Earth. As each day passed by, she never failed to thank God for blessing her with an amazing husband, beautiful children, wonderful family, amazing friends who turned family, and also, her successful career.

Getting married to Sebastian was one of the best things that had ever happened to Jayda. Her love for him increased day by day. They’d only been married for a year, and Sebastian kept his promise by making each day memorable and making sure she and their children were happy.

Of course, they argued and had little misunderstandings in between, but they loved each other so much that it was hard for them to stay mad at one another for long.

Jayda had a hard time balancing her career with being a wife, a mom, and a godmother, but she was determined to make it work, and she had been doing well so far.

“Aside from the documents you need to send to some of our clients, I think we’ve done everything on our to-do list for this week,” Jayda said to Anna.

Jayda started gathering her things.

“I’ll see you on Monday. My babies will be expecting me by now. We have guests coming over tonight.”

ANNA

Anna admired how easily Jayda handled being a boss, a wife, and a mom. Since getting married, the latest she left the office was 6:30 p.m., but usually, by 5:30 she was on her way home. If there was any extra work, Jayda took it home to complete.

Jayda had shown Anna that it was possible to have it all—a successful career and a wonderful family.

JAYDA

Jayda was glad her home was only fifteen minutes from the office. Sebastian had chosen it for them, thinking of her commute, and she was grateful for it. It meant she didn’t need a driver…although Sebastian had done a lot of pleading before Jayda finally agreed to have someone watch her at a distance.

She didn’t think she needed a bodyguard, but she wanted to make him happy.

Funny enough, Jayda hadn’t gotten much of the paparazzi’s drama. They were only around her when she was with her kids or with Sebastian. They never approached her when she was alone. The most they’d ever done was to take a picture of her at a distance.

Jayda thought they always stayed away from her when she was alone because no one wanted to mess with a known lawyer. She also had a bodyguard who was always monitoring her at a distance.

As soon as Jayda pulled up in the driveway, she was welcomed by Irving, the butler.

“Welcome, ma’am,” he greeted when Jayda got out of the car.

With the birth of Ariella, Sebastian decided to hire some help for Jayda. They had the butler, a few maids, a chef, and, of course, security officers for the house.

Jayda had been against it at first. She wanted to take care of her home herself. Sebastian had convinced her to give in. Having help would let her pay attention to what mattered most—her family and her job, in that order. She’d learned her lesson about what took priority for her.

Four tiny arms hugged Jayda’s legs tightly when she stepped into the house.

She smiled proudly. This was the most amazing part of her day. The thing she always looked forward to. No matter how stressed she was from work, her children’s hugs and kisses took all her worries away.

“Welcome home, Mama. I missed you,” Aaron said.

Katie was on a business trip, so Aaron had been here in his second home for almost a week now. The little boy had come to understand that he had two homes. He honestly had no problem with that because he was loved everywhere.

“Mama, I miss you,” Ariella said in her cute baby voice.

Stella, the nanny, collected Jayda’s bag from her so she could cuddle a little with her kids.

“Thanks, Stella.” She smiled as soon as Stella took her bag from her.

“Hello, munchkins.” Jayda dropped down to her knees and pulled her little miracles in joint hugs. She showered their faces with kisses, which made them giggle.

“How was school today?” she asked Aaron.

“School was fun.”

“Did you finish your lunch?”

He replied with a nod, and Jayda gave him a high-five.

“Were you a good girl for Stella?” Jayda asked eighteen-month-old Ariella. She and Sebastian decided she would start daycare once she turned two, but for now, Stella took care of her.

“Yes, Mama,” Ella replied.

“Are you sure?” Jayda asked with an eyebrow raised.

Ariella grinned sheepishly before replying with a nod.

“Why are you so cute?” Jayda smiled and kissed her cheek.

“Guess who is coming to visit us tonight?” Jayda asked her babies.

“Lenora?” Aaron cried.

“Eenora?” Ariella babbled. She still couldn’t pronounce ~Lenora~.

“Yes, my loves!” Jayda announced, and her babies jumped up for joy.

Lenora was Lilian and Roman’s baby daughter. Ariella and Aaron loved her so much and were always protective of her.

They loved playing together, but tears were always shed whenever they had to be parted at the end of the day.

“Your Aunt Lilian, Uncle Roman, Uncle Caleb, and Aunt Michaela will also be here,” Jayda announced.

A month after Jayda and Seb’s wedding, they’d all started a tradition of meeting once a month for dinner. They took turns hosting, and tonight, it was Seb and Jayda’s turn.

“Wow, we are going to have so much fun.” Aaron clapped his hands.

“So much funnnnn,” Ariella said in her baby voice while doing a happy dance.

“On that note, guys, you have to excuse Mama. I need to take a shower and then prepare dinner. You two, give me a kiss before I go,” she demanded.

Ariella and Aaron kissed Jayda’s cheeks at the same time before they ran off to the living room to continue watching TV.

“I know Ariella did something naughty today. What did she do?” Jayda asked as she retrieved her bag from Stella.

“She was good. She only threw a tantrum during lunch. Instead of eating her food, she said she wanted cookies. Mr. Miller called during that time to check on her, so he persuaded her to eat her food,” Stella replied.

Jayda laughed and shook her head at her naughty daughter. “I’ll talk to her to be good.”

Jayda smiled at the sound of the doorbell.

“Hi, guys! Welcome!” She was so happy to see all her friends.

She reached for Lenora, who was in Roman’s arms. Lilian and Roman came inside, too.

Jayda bounced the baby in her arms. “I missed you, my love. Did you miss me too?”

Lenora smiled and continued to blabber baby words.

Jayda smiled and kissed her chubby cheeks. “She’s growing up so fast.”

“I know.” Lilian chuckled. “Time flies. It was just like yesterday when I gave birth to her.”

“Come into the living room. The kids are excited to see her.”

Aaron and Ariella screamed for joy as soon as they saw Lenora. Jayda gently set Lenora down so the three of them could play.

In a short time, the house was bursting with laughter as the friends gathered. Gabriel, Caleb, and Michaela arrived. Michaela and Caleb were already engaged, and she was four months pregnant with Caleb’s baby.

During the delicious dinner, Aaron spoke up.

“Mama, can me and Ariella have a baby brother?” Aaron asked out of the blue, and everyone at the table looked at him with surprised smiles on their faces, except for Jayda, who almost choked on her food.

Sebastian came to her rescue by handing her a glass of water.

“Ariella, you want a baby brother, right?” Aaron asked Ella, who was seated in a highchair beside Jayda.

She was too busy eating her food to speak, so she nodded.

“Please, Daddy? Can we have a baby brother?” Aaron directed his plea to Seb this time around.

“Wow, wow, wow,” Caleb said, and all the adults burst into laughter except for Sebastian and Jayda, who were thinking of what to say.

SEBASTIAN

Sebastian definitely wanted more kids, but he and Jayda had not brought up the issue about baby number three.

Jayda, on the other hand, shook her head in disbelief. She wondered when Aaron and Ariella discussed having a baby brother.

“Mama and I will think about it,” Sebastian promised.

Aaron nodded and went back to his food.

The rest of the dinner was filled with funny talks without unexpected questions. They had dessert, and the men offered to clear the table.

When it was almost nine, Lenora fell asleep, cradled in her daddy’s arms. Aaron and Ariella started feeling sleepy, too. Lilian and Michaela helped Jayda put them to bed.

Then, they came back to the living room to continue their adult conversation. They ended up planning a vacation to Sebastian’s holiday house in the Bahamas.

At 10:30 p.m., they hugged each other and said their goodbyes. They all promised to see each other in one month at Lilian and Roman’s house.

On their way to their room, Jayda and Sebastian made a stop at Ariella’s room to give her a goodnight kiss and then Aaron’s room to do the same.

Before Jayda could escape to the bathroom, Sebastian got hold of her. He made her sit on his lap on the couch. He caressed her cheek as he spoke.

“What do you think about our children’s request for a baby brother?”

Jayda blushed. After thinking for a couple of seconds, she shrugged. “I asked Aaron about it while putting him to bed. I asked him how he and Ella came up with the baby brother idea.

“He said he wanted to be a big brother again. He asked Ariella if she wanted to be a big sister. Ariella said yes, and then he concluded a baby brother would be perfect so they would both protect Ariella, since she was a princess. And he promised me he was going to share his toys with his new baby brother,” Jayda finished.

“I’m okay with us having another baby, but I want to make sure you are okay with it, too. It doesn’t have to be now. It can be when Ariella turns three,” Sebastian assured her.

Jayda grinned. “I definitely want to have more kids with you. We can start trying for another baby. I’ll stop using my birth control pills.”

“Are you sure?” Sebastian asked.

He wanted Jayda to be comfortable with the idea of having three kids. He was also thinking of her job, which was sort of demanding. But his wife had been doing a great job in balancing her career with her family.

“I’m sure, and I know with you by my side, I can do anything,” she promised him.

“I love you, Mrs. Miller,” he said, looking into her beautiful eyes with adoration.

“I love you more, Sebastian Miller!” She leaned closer to him and kissed him. The kiss turned out to be a very heated one. One thing led to another, and it ended up being their first trial to the making of baby number three…
