Chapter 446
Jojo and Coco’s Unexpected Love
Chapter 446 That Damned Old Man
Xaviaâs body trembled, her lips quivering as she said, âIf youâre already set on not believing me, no
matter what I say, it wonât change your mind. Even if the amniocentesis results say the baby is a
Whitman, you might still argue that the results are false, right?â
âIf you donât want others to know, donât do it. If you have nothing to hide, why the fuss?â Harold shot
back.
âWill you stop doubting me if I agree to do it?â Xavia pleaded, her voice filled with hope.
âThat remains to be seen,â Harold retorted dismissively, stroking his beard. Even after the
amniocentesis, he wanted a paternity test after the baby was born. Who knows, Xavia might tamper
with the results.
Octavia could not stand to watch any longer and interjected, âDad, this is between Joe and his wife.
Why are you hassling her like this?â
âStay out of it,â Harold snapped.
âI get that itâs not my business, but besides intimidating her, you canât do the amniocentesis, âOctavia
insisted, âIf you ask me, the fact sheâs here means she has nothing to hide. Plus, havenât you always
wanted a great grandson? Well, looks like your wish came true.â
A glimmer of relief flashed through Xaviaâs eyes. âSo this old thing is just intimidating me.â
Haroldâs face flushed crimson, fuming with rage at his plan being thwarted. He roared, âGet out!â
Octavia trembled in fear, confused about why Harold was mad at her.
âGrandpa, please donât yell at Mrs. Tavia. This is all on me.â Xavia rushed to Octaviaâs defense. Octavia
was the only one on her side, and she needed her in her corner.
âStarting today, youâll remain in this hospital until the amniocentesis is done. Youâre not allowed to take
a single step outside,â Harold commanded, forcefully waving his hand.â Someone, take her phone and
ID.â
Without delay, two bodyguards immediately seized Xaviaâs bag. Harold grabbed her documents and
phone, stuffed them in a bag, and handed it to Patrick for safekeeping. He instructed the hospital
director next to him, âKeep her in your sight at all times.â
âYes, Mr. Harold.â
Having completed these tasks, he left with Patrick.
It took Xavia a while before she came around to her senses. She turned to Octavia, seeking her help.
âMrs. Tavia, please help me. I canât stay here!â
âIâll talk to Harold once heâs cooled off in a few days,â Octavia assured her.
âWhat? Then what am I supposed to do now?â
âJust stay here. Donât worry, they wonât hurt you.â
Octavia did not dare to provoke Harold further. Besides, he was not that heartless.
Xavia realized she could not rely on Octavia and quickly changed her strategy. âCould I borrow your
phone? I need to call my manager. Sheâll worry if she canât get ahold of me.â
Octavia saw a younger version of herself in Xavia, having gone through her fair share of troubles and
hardships to marry into the Whitmans. Without hesitation, she gave Xavia her phone.
Xavia walked to a corner and called Vanya, her anxiety mounting with each passing moment. As she
waited, a string of curses formed in her mind.
âThat damned old man! Why does he always make things difficult for me? Why canât he just
disappear?â
âBeep beep beep. Hello, the number you have dialed is not availableâ¦â
Xaviaâs entire body went limp, but she refused to give up and dialed the number again. But
after four or five attempts, it was still the same response. Given the circumstances, Vanya was likely on
a mission, so any more calls would be pointless.
âOh no⦠Iâm trappedâ¦â
