Chapter 664 Woke up From a Deep Dream
Jojo and Coco’s Unexpected Love
Xavia had a successful delivery, and after a few days of rest, she appeared to be in good spirits.
Dressed in a black gown and a small hat, she exuded elegance and beauty.
As Emily angrily reproached her, Xavia let out a sigh of sadness and responded, "I simply wish to
pay my respects to Ms. Chloe. There's no need for you to be so worked up."
"Joseph! If you let her stay, Iâll take Coco away!" Emily's face flushed with anger as she shouted at
Joseph.
Joseph slowly looked up and briefly glanced at Xavia, but he quickly averted his gaze. The duration
of their eye contact did not even last three seconds.
Xavia clenched her hands hidden in her sleeves. From the moment she had given birth until now,
this man had barely spared her a glance. Instead, he had sent Tyson to check on the baby. What
was he thinking?
But it did not matter. Now that Chloe was no longer around, Xavia knew she would soon have better
days ahead. She had an ulterior motive in coming here today. Did they really think she had willingly
come to such an inauspicious place?
Lucas was adept at reading people's expressions and immediately understood Joseph's intentions.
He approached Xavia and politely said, "Ms. Xavia, please leave."
"I don't have any other intentions..." Xavia feigned innocence. "I was surprised and saddened by
Chloe's death. I just came to pay my final respects. If there was anything I did in the past that
caused her unhappiness, I genuinely hope she can find it in her heart to forgive me."
"If you truly seek her forgiveness, then go and apologize to her in the depths below," Noah suddenly
interjected, breaking his silence. His brown eyes emitted a cold and chilling aura as if he could see
through her thoughts.
Xavia's expression froze for a moment, followed by a flicker of annoyance. Speaking in a voice
audible only to the two of them, she asked, "Tell me. Did Chloe really die? Did you go to the hospital
to save her?"
On the day of the fire, Xavia caught a glimpse of Noah as he hurried through the hospital. She was
certain she had not mistaken it. That person had been him.
But by that time, the fire had spread extensively. Xavia could distinctly hear the cries of agony
coming from the operating room. The thought of that bitch finally disappearing from her life brought
her immense joy. If it was not for the fear of being overheard, she would have burst into laughter to
celebrate.
She listened intently from outside the operating room for a long time, but the cries of agony ceased
before the firefighters arrived. It was highly likely that Chloe had died. Even if Noah had arrived, it
would have been too late to save her. But for some reason, Xavia could not shake off her lingering
worry.
Noah's typically gentle and kind face now appeared exceptionally cold and indifferent. Leaning
forward, he lowered his voice and said, "Do you remember what I told you?"
"What?"
"I explicitly warned you that while you could manipulate Joseph's and Cocoâs feelings, you must not
cause her any harm. How could you forget?"
"It wasn't me. It was Mr. Cyrus," Xavia quickly retorted, feeling a chill deep within her heart as she
shifted the blame away from herself.
"You neglected to tell me about it." His thoughts were crystal clear, and he had no intention of letting
Xavia off easily.
Xavia felt unjustly accused, but she certainly could not tell him the truth. She had eagerly waited for
Chloeâs death. Moreover, she belonged to Sinclair and could not betray him. But seeing Noah so
angry, she was afraid that he might utter something inappropriate. Reluctantly, she glanced in
Josephâs direction, then turned away.
The funeral commenced, with Emily and Lily shedding the most heart-wrenching tears. They could
not believe that a living person could vanish from their lives just like that. Joseph knelt before the
urn, his cold fingertips gently caressing it as his eyes filled with immense tenderness. If someone
was close enough, they would be shocked by the shimmering tears in his eyes. The man who could
control the business world could not control his tears in front of the woman he loved.
After the funeral, Joseph did not leave. He continued to gaze at the photo affixed to the headstone,
unable to snap out of his trance. The woman in the picture wore a radiant smile, her almond-shaped
eyes forming gentle crescents. Her infectious smile embodied the same mischievous and vibrant
spirit as the day they first crossed paths.
It was Chloe's WhatsApp profile picture that had been taken two years ago.
Joseph suddenly felt like he had woken up from a deep dream. His eyes appeared hollow,
resembling those of a hundred-year-old man. So many irreversible things had taken place in two
brief years. Looking back, he now understood the depth of his regrets. He shut his eyes, yet Emily's
voice rang in his ears.
"Where were you during Cocoâs accident?"
"Do you also think I was at the hospital with Xavia?"
"Where else could you have been?"
