Chapter 707 Icarus Is Dead

Jojo and Coco’s Unexpected Love

Putting on a fake smile, Chloe said, "Is it that hard to understand?"

Joseph was livid. "I just want a chance to talk to you properly. Is that wrong?"

"It is.”

"Don't twist the truth here. Where did I go wrong?" he said, refusing to admit his mistakes.

"Did I ever say I wanted to talk to you? Did I ever say I wanted to listen to that recording?

Everything you do is based on your own assumption. I don't want to relive those days of unbearable

pain. It's no different from being killed all over again!" Chloe shouted at the top of her lungs.

No one knew if she was truly angry or if she was just putting up an act. However, her eyes were

filled with tears and she looked pitiful.

Joseph could not bear to see her cry and immediately surrendered. "Please don't cry. I just wanted

to explain things. I won’t hurt you again."

"You're just selfishly trying to prove your innocence. You don't care about how I feel at all!"

"I’ll never do it again. I'll change," Joseph promised sincerely, his eyes filled with affection as he

gazed at her.

Chloe pushed him away. "It's too late. I'm Noah's fiancee now."

Why should he have the privilege to explain himself and erase all the pain he had caused with just a

few words? It was unfair.

Joseph froze. Although he knew that she would not forgive him easily, it still pained him when he

heard her say she was Noah's fiancee.

Chloe noticed the change in his expression and felt a small sense of pleasure. However, it did not

last long as she suddenly remembered something and asked, "Did Icarus really die?"

Joseph looked at her and replied, "Yes, he did. I was the one who collected his body."

Frowning, she asked, "Did you…"

"It wasn't me."

"Then who?"

"Duskfall. After I beat him up, I threw him out onto the road. A car then ran him over."

Chloe gasped, realizing the terrifying power the Sinclairs held. They treated life as if it was nothing

and killed anyone they wanted. Suddenly, she did not want to seek revenge on Xavia anymore. She

had always felt that Xavia was somehow connected to Duskfall. If she caught their attention, the

cost would be too high.

"That’s why I didn't do anything. It was to find out the truth. Will you please give me a chance to

make up for my mistakes?" Joseph asked, looking like a boyfriend trying to appease his girlfriend's

anger.

Michael, who was standing in the corner, felt quite speechless. It had been hard enough for him to

come across a girl he was interested in, yet this one seemed to have so many identities. One

moment, she was Joseph's ex-wife, and the next, she was Noah's fiancee. He did not want to

offend either side, yet he did not want to give up on her so easily.

After contemplating for a few seconds, Michael voluntarily left Chloe's office. It seemed like he was

giving them space, but as soon as he stepped out, he went to find Noah.

Noah was surprised to see Michael as he knew about Chloe's new marketing plan. "What's the

matter, Mr. Michael? Is there something wrong with your contract?"

"No, there's nothing wrong, but there are some things I want to talk to you about. I'm not sure if I

should though…" Michael said, sounding hesitant and unsure.

Noah put down the pen in his hand and said, "It's all right, go ahead."

Michael continued, "Mr. Noah, did you and Ms. Chloe recently get engaged?"

"Yes, we did."

"Well, here's the thing. I was in Ms. Chloe's office discussing work earlier when Mr. Joseph came to

see her. They talked about the past and emotions started flying. Perhaps you’d like to go over there

and check on them?"
