Chapter 739 How Are You Still Alive?

Jojo and Coco’s Unexpected Love

Xavia shivered against the biting cold. Her face turned pale, and she raised her hand to strike Emily.

Chloe acted quickly and pulled Emily aside, causing Xavia to hit the door frame with a muffled thud.

Chloe mocked, "Yikes, that must’ve hurt."

"What the hell do you want?! Why won't you leave me alone?! Are you jealous because I'm about to

marry into the royal family?!" Xavia screamed, wishing she could tear Chloe apart.

Chloe pondered for a moment before smiling and saying, "It's not really jealousy. I'm just curious

how someone as wicked as you isn’t dead yet."

Xavia was momentarily taken aback. She gazed at Chloe maliciously. "Rest assured, I won't die that

soon. I'll live a life far better than yours."

"Is that so?" Chloe responded.

Xavia thought of something and instantly composed herself. She tucked her hair behind her ear and

said arrogantly, "In the near future, I'll become a noble princess. And you, you'll forever remain a

lowly commoner."

Emily rolled her eyes and taunted, "Oh, whoop-dee-doo! What's so great about that? You're just

looking for a replacement because you couldn’t get Joseph."

With the connections and resources the Whitmans held, even the royal family would not dare to

slight them. If they were to face off with each other, it was uncertain who would come out on top.

Xavia clenched her fists until her knuckles turned white. However, she forced her confidence and

said, "I have a child with Joe. What do you have, Chloe?"

"Your child?" Chloe tilted her head and looked at Xavia mischievously as if asking if Xavia was

certain that Jasper was her kid.

"What are you trying to say?"

Xavia felt inexplicably nervous under Chloe’s gaze. Did Chloe find out about something? But Xavia

soon dispelled the thought. There was no way Chloe would find anything. If everything had been

exposed, Joe would not have remained silent and done nothing.

Chloe did not respond immediately. As if she was interrogating a prisoner, she gracefully paced

around Xavia, her voice deliberately measured as she began, "The fire at the hospital, my child,

Harold’s accident, and even Toto… Do you think you can just leave it all behind and move on with

your life? Harold is just an old man. How could you do such a thing to him? Aren't you afraid of

karma and retribution? You even have the audacity to play the loving wife and caring mother in front

of Joseph."

Despite the seething anger boiling inside her, Chloe kept her tone in check as though recounting a

distant tale. Only she knew how she struggled to control her emotions. An overwhelming hatred

threatened to consume her, and the fleeting thought of eliminating Xavia crossed her mind.

However, she knew that acting on impulse was not the solution, and simply exposing Xavia's

deception would not suffice. She wanted to inflict upon Xavia a lifetime of fear and dread, ensuring

she paid for her sins till the very end.

A sudden hush enveloped the room. Only the sounds of breathing lingered in the air. Xavia's hair

stood on end as she held her breath, her mind replaying Chloe's words over and over again. The

thought of Chloe exposing her misdeeds to Kenneth made her anxious.

Thud…

Suddenly, Xavia fell to her knees, gazing up at Chloe with a pitiful posture as she pleaded, "I know

I’ve wronged you in many ways, but I had no choice. If I refused to do as Duskfall instructed, they'd

kill me. You can hit or scold me as you wish. I promise not to fight back."

Emily was startled and instinctively took several steps back. "Damn it. Don't come near us."

Chloe was unfazed by Xavia's pleas. She knew that Xavia was just playing the victim to protect

herself. So, she would let Xavia have her way. Otherwise, how would she continue her plan?

"If you truly regret what you did to Harold, then show it through your actions," Chloe said with a calm

gaze.

Xavia froze as a bad feeling surged inside of her. "What do I have to do?"

Chloe chuckled. "An eye for an eye. I want you to do unto yourself what you did to Harold. Sounds

fair?"
