Chapter 742 Do You Have No Self-Respect

Chloe was baffled. She asked hesitantly, "What makes you say that?"

"My gut," Michael said with a solemn expression. "He's not as simple as he looks."

Chloe’s brows furrowed slightly. Joseph had once said a similar thing.

Michael felt awkward when Chloe gave no response. He had expected her to disbelieve him, but he

was still upset when things turned out this way. He forced out a smile. "It's fine. I just felt like I had to

say it. Maybe I was overthinking it."

Chloe narrowed her eyes and changed the topic. "Did you manage to resolve your scandal?"

"No. And all my jobs for the month have been canceled.”

"How about next month?"

"I don’t know. My agency might help me. We’re waiting for this to be old news before clarifying

anything."

"That's good."

Chloe subconsciously thought it was all just a misunderstanding and did not delve deeper into the

matter. Her instincts told her that Michael would not rely on others to get a higher position. And

besides, he had no reason to slander Noah.

After Chloe parted ways with Michael, she called a private hospital to arrange for a check-up. She

paid so that she could get the results sooner and waited at the hospital for them to come out.

"Mom, listen to the doctor and get plenty of rest. Don’t worry about the money. I have quite a bit in

savings. It's enough for your retirement."

"You worked hard to earn that money. I won’t live for many more years even if I’m cured. You should

keep that for your marriage instead."

"Don't say that, Mom. I'm not an ungrateful son. I won't do that to you."

Lucas frowned unhappily. Suddenly, he caught sight of someone out of the corner of his eye. He

stopped in his tracks and focused on the person. He sounded surprised when he said, “Ms. Chloe?

Why are you here? Are you unwell?"

Choe had been looking down at her phone. When she looked up and saw the middle-aged woman

behind Lucas, she paused and decided against making sarcastic remarks. "No. I'm just here for a

routine check-up."

"Oh, would you like me to give you a ride later?"

Although Chloe had not reconciled with Joseph, Lucas still regarded her as his boss's wife and was

respectful toward her.

"It's fine. I drove here. You go ahead and take your mother home.”

"All right, so long then."

When Lucas exited the hospital, he reported to Joseph that he had bumped into Chloe. A reply

came in just moments later.

[Which hospital?]

[The one on Eastriver Street.]

Joseph turned on his GPS and sped off down the road. When he found Chloe, she was just

breathing a sigh of relief after reading the results the nurse had given. Luckily, she had not

contracted any diseases.

Chloe was about to get up and leave when someone snatched away her report. When she saw that

it was Joseph, she was furious. "What are you doing? Why are you always pestering me?" She

knew that it was Lucas who told Joseph where she was. She regretted talking to him so nicely.

Joseph remained silent and read the report thoroughly. The veins on his forehead bulged.

"Why are you taking a test for STDs? Who did you get in bed with?"

"Someone dirty."

"Who? Chloe, do you have no self-respect?" Joseph wore a sinister look, yearning to kill the man

she was talking about.
