Chapter 749 The Person He Thought He Knew Duped Him

Jojo and Coco’s Unexpected Love

Joseph squinted as his voice contained a hint of uncertainty and hesitation, "What are you talking

about?"

"Grandpa hasn't told you, huh?" Chloe straightened up as she narrated the facts nonchalantly,

"Xavia’s working for Duskfall. She’s the one who orchestrated all the twists and turns."

Chloe did not wish to meddle in other people's affairs, but neither did she want to owe anyone

favors, especially not to someone as arrogant as him.

Joseph froze, his brows deeply furrowed. "How could Xavia possibly be involved with Duskfall? And

if she is, why would she still pester me after Grandpa has woken up?"

"That's why she has been getting close to Kenneth."

Not wasting too many words, Chloe played for Joseph a recording taken at Dawnstar. In it, Xavia's

tone shifted from furious roaring to desperate begging. The whole ordeal lasted no more than ten

minutes, but the extent of her evil deeds was enough to be unforgivable for a lifetime.

A dark shadow took over Joseph’s face as he emitted a chilling aura. The person he thought he

knew had duped him for years. She had even used Jasper to seek attention. His heart ached as he

grasped the extent of the harm he had caused Chloe, and this was just the tip of the iceberg. The

atrocities hidden in the darkness, concealed from the light, might be more than he could ever

imagine.

When Chloe decided to leave Aesper with Noah all those years ago, she must have been

heartbroken.

Chloe calmly looked at Joseph, then glanced at the two bodyguards beside him. "But Duskfall and

Xavia probably don't know about your relationship with Callum."

Xavia was trying her best to climb her way up to Callum’s side, unaware that Joseph and Callum

were friends. This dynamic was...rather intriguing.

Joseph stared at her as he asked in a tense voice, "If you knew all along, why didn't you tell me?"

Chloe rolled her eyes. "I mentioned before that Xavia is problematic and that she might be

connected to Duskfall. You’re the one who didn't believe me."

Though they lacked concrete evidence at the time, they were husband and wife. He should have

trusted her unconditionally, but he had let her down.

Joseph's throat tightened as he fell silent, unable to find the right words to respond.

A gleam of satisfaction flashed through Chloe's eyes. She adjusted her collar and said, "I suggest

you think before you act. Go home and have a chat with Grandpa first. Don't let your emotions cloud

your judgment and upset him."

Joseph's brow was tightly furrowed, his expression cold. After a moment of silence, he took off his

coat and draped it over her. "Even if Xavia is connected to Duskfall, certain things still can’t

proceed. Be wary of Noah."

*

Late at night, at Duskfall, a loud crack echoed through the room.

Crack!

A whip with sharp spikes struck Xavia's tender skin, causing it to split open. She trembled in pain

and blood flowed out of the cuts. It was one lash, and this one pushed her the limits of her

endurance.

"S-Sir, I didn't know that Chloe and Callum were acquainted."

Cyrus' face was cold as he gripped the whip tightly. "According to my investigation, Callum's men

have been secretly protecting Chloe for several days. You didn't notice anything?"

"N-No… I didn't know. If I had, I would have informed you immediately."

"You useless piece of trash! Chloe snatched away what was supposed to be yours, and now she

has a relationship with Callum. Yet, all you’re capable of is seducing Callum's son. Is there any way

you can fail more miserably?!"

Cyrus' words of anger cut like a sharp blade. His usual calm temperament was now replaced with

coldness mixed with a hint of terror.

Xavia said through parched, cracked lips, "Sir, are you saying that Chloe and Callum are having an

affair?"

Cyrus scoffed at her naivety. "You're an idiot whose head is filled with nothing but romance. Do you

think relationships between men and women are only limited to sex?” He knew Callum's

temperament and knew he would not be swayed by a young woman in her twenties.
