Chapter 780 Help Needed: How to Comfort an Upset Girl?
Jojo and Coco’s Unexpected Love
Joseph noticed the dark circles under Chloe's eyes, evidence that she had not slept well last night.
He said in a solemn tone, "I donât know everything, but I can assure you that it was Noah and
Duskfall that had planned that hospital fire five years ago.â
Chloe was stunned and her eyes blazed. "Heâs one of my childâs murderers?"
"Yes."
"But... why..."
Noah had always treated her with such kindness. He had helped get her overseas, accompanied
her, and even brought her back to the Sullivan family. He gave her a home she had always dreamed
of. Joseph's eyes flashed with a hint of regret, but he still revealed to her what he had discovered.
"On the day of the fire, the lines to the fire department were tied up for twenty minutes. This delay
had allowed the fire to spread. As for Noah, he arrived within ten minutes after the fire started.
Regardless of whether heâs familiar with the hospital's layout, and unless he was already nearby
and within a kilometer of the hospital, he couldn't possibly have saved you. Exotic Star is ten
kilometers away from the hospital, not to mention the Sullivan manor. They arenât in the same area."
Given the premeditated nature of the whole plan and the perfect timing, there were no other
possibilities.
Chloe's face turned pale as she stumbled a few steps backward. She was greatly shocked. She had
trusted Noah wholeheartedly and never doubted his intentions. But now that trust had shattered,
and she saw things in a different light, and she suddenly saw all the signs that she had missed.
Joseph gently patted her back, his tone was uncharacteristically soft as he said, "Go ahead and cry
if you want to. It's good to let it all out."
"Do you think Duskfall could have forced Noah somehow?" Chloe's eyes filled with tears as she
stubbornly tried to deceive herself. She was still unwilling to accept the harsh reality.
After all, whether it's friendship or love, how many five years of friendship does a person have? Who
could have accepted this?
Joseph's comforting hand paused. His expression involuntarily turned cold as a surge of jealousy
erupted in his chest. "What kind of love potion has Noah fed you?"
He found it hard to believe that Chloe was still holding out hope of Noah's innocence. Why had she
not extended the same level of trust to him?
"I need some time alone," Chloe said, her eyes dull and lifeless.
Joseph clenched his fist, turmoil surging swirling inside him as he stared at Chloe. His emotions
tore him apart but he ultimately could not bring himself to be harsh with her. He exited the office and
went to the rooftop to compose himself, slamming the door on his way out.
Once he had calmed down, Joseph sought out Lucas and asked, "How do you comfort a girl when
she's upset?"
Lucas pondered for a long time but could not come up with anything, "Sir, I'm as single as a slice of
cheese. I don't understand these things."
Joseph frowned and instructed, "Gather all the female employees for a meeting."
*
Lucas distributed a survey sheet to all the female employees. On it was the question: if youâre
feeling upset, what would you want your husband to do?
"I hope everyone fills it out sincerely. There will be a reward for this survey."
The employees looked puzzled, but upon hearing the word "reward," they all began writing
enthusiastically, each more excited than the next. Half an hour later, Lucas compiled all the
responses and summarized the data. The answers mainly revolved around money, nice meals,
gifts, flowers, and a heavy emphasis on patient communication.
Joseph glanced at the report summary and gave a firm order, "Get everything that's listed on here."
âRight away, sir."
In no time, a delightful array of food, elegant designer bags, and a bouquet of fresh flowers were
delivered to Chloe. Overwhelmed with emotions, she finally could not hold back and cried her heart
out. After her tears subsided, her shoulders felt much lighter.
She looked at Joseph in bewilderment. "What's all this? Is someone important coming?"
Joseph's eyes remained clear and cold as he arrogantly raised his chin, saying, "You idiot. Theyâre
for you."
Chloe was stunned, her pale face turning a shade of pink. "For me?"
"Don't you like them?"
Chloe found herself at a loss for words, and an awkward silence settled in the air. Joseph thought
she was dissatisfied, and his brows furrowed tighter. Lucas, who was standing off to the side, felt
the temperature suddenly drop. His brain worked quickly, devising numerous ways to get out of this
sticky situation as fast as he could.
"Daddy!"
A child's sweet voice broke the deadlock.
Jasper strutted into the room with his little backpack. He had not seen Chloe in a while, and his
black eyes sparkled with excitement as he asked, "Hey Ms. Chloe, why are you here?"
Chloe refused to let her emotions affect the child, so she forced a smile and replied, "I had some
questions for your dad."
"Oh..." Jasper then complained, "I went to your office to find you a while back, but your fiance
kicked me out."
