Once they exited the room, Zoelle wrote down Vanya’s prescription and left. She told them she

would make one final visit in three days.

Chloe glanced at the prescription as Noah casually set it aside. Instead of immediately handing it

over to the helper responsible for preparing the medicine. he embraced Chloe tenderly. He gently

patted her back as his eyes filled with worry.

"How about catching a movie to lift your spirits?"

It was clear that he was in a good mood.

Chloe did not push Noah away and responded warmly, "I’m not feeling up to it. I haven't been to the

office for several days, so I’d like to go check on how the sales are coming along."

"That works too."

"I'll go on my own. You spend time with Grandpa. You two haven't played chess together in a while.

He brought it up with me a few times already."

"Sure, I can also go over the details of the press conference with him."

The public announcement of Chloe being Desmond's biological granddaughter was scheduled for

the following week. It was three days before the wedding, which was to take place the Wednesday

after next. The reason they had scheduled the press conference before the wedding was that they

wanted the world to know that Chloe was not marrying Noah to climb up the social ladder and to

affirm her status as one of the Sullivans.

Mixed expressions flashed across Chloe's face. She wondered how displeased Desmond would be

if she ended up not marrying Noah. Would he reject her just like he had rejected her mother?

But her mother had refused to compromise, and neither would she.

Chloe forced out a smile and said, "Sure. We have to let everyone know that you're the one

marrying into my family and that I’m not the one who seduced you."

"Honestly, with your beauty, so what if you seduced me?" Noah said with a glint of amusement in

his eyes. "I’d be enchanted by you regardless."

Chloe changed out of her casual home attire, and without bothering with makeup, put on a deep

blue knee-length dress and went to Exotic Star. During the drive, she sent a voice message to

Joseph, informing him of the potential danger Vanya was facing and urging him to find a way to get

her to safety. Upon arriving at her office, she glanced at her phone and realized that Joseph had yet

to respond to her message.

Suspicion crept into her mind. Was he considering abandoning Vanya? Just as she pondered over

Joseph's intentions, Frieda knocked on the office door.

"Come in," Chloe answered as she put down her phone. Looking at Frieda, she asked, "What's the

matter?"

A smile graced Frieda's face as she said, "Someone’s waiting for you at the fire escape."

"Huh?"

With a mix of suspicion and curiosity, Chloe got up and headed toward the fire exit. She knew that

Frieda was not someone who played jokes.

As she pushed open the door, the motion-activated lights lit up the passage. The lights shined onto

Joseph, giving him a halo of light. Even in his plain black clothes, he looked stylish and refined,

giving off a strong and impressive vibe.

Chloe was stunned. "What are you doing here?"

Before Joseph could say anything, an idea snapped into place as her eyes widened in disbelief.

"Frieda and you are…"

"Yes, you're right," Joseph replied calmly.
