Chapter 806 That’s Chad’s Mother

Kenneth frowned. He found Otto frivolous and unsuitable for his sister.

Ophelia was not bothered with chatting with him though. "Come on, Otto, let’s go inside. The party's

about to start."

"Yeah, let’s go inside. You can speak to Leah in private about these matters. She's not a child

anymore, and you should show her some courtesy." Xavia stepped in just in time to mediate the

situation, putting up a gentle and considerate facade.

Kenneth pursed his lips and, although unhappy, agreed to let it go.

Unknown if Carolina was doing it on purpose, she brought Chloe around with her and introduced

her to the other members of the royal family. And Chloe did not embarrass Carolina, greeting

everyone amiably.

"Mdm. Carolina, you're too kind to the girl. Her mother is just a commoner. What's more, she hasn’t

been given a noble title. You don't have to care so much about her." A grandly-dressed woman

looked at Chloe in disdain.

Carolina frowned and whispered, "Stop this nonsense at once."

"I'm only stating the truth. Back in the day, she was known throughout Aesper as an ass-kisser."

Chloe frowned and became hostile. She said boldly, "Excuse me, but do we know each other? Did

you investigate my past or something?"

The woman's face fell and stared at Chloe silently. Though she was quiet, Chloe could feel the

strong resentment radiating off of the woman.

Carolina lowered her voice. "That’s Chad's mother."

When Chloe heard this, she became anxious. She wondered if it was Chad who had released that

recording pen to the reporters. He certainly had the motive and means to do so.

"Where’s Chad?"

When Chloe raised this question, the woman became nervous. In the next second, she burst into

tears. "You’ve hurt my son to the point that he can no longer have children, and you’re still refusing

to let him go?"

When this scene broke out, the people who knew the inside story looked over.

"Ms. Chloe, this is unnecessary. Chad is in a miserable state now. How about you forgive him?"

"Yeah, you shouldn’t fixate on things."

"The Wilsons are having a hard time right now as they only have one son. And you’ve wounded

him..."

"You're fine now, aren't you? Maybe Chad just wanted to be friends with you. Why did you take such

extreme actions?"

"I’m sure Chloe didn't do it on purpose. It's hard to stay calm and fearless when something like that

happens,” Xavia suddenly piped up. She smiled and acted like a gracious host, saying some nice

words on Chloe’s behalf, "Let’s not gather around here. Many influential people are in attendance

today, so let's not make fools of ourselves."

Carolina looked at Xavia quietly and admiringly. She thought Xavia sensible, being able to put aside

her grudges and place the interests of the whole above herself.

Hearing her words, the crowd did Xavia the favor and stopped spewing comments.

Chloe crossed her arms but hid her sneer. 'So Xavia wants to use me to please Madam Carolina,

huh? She must be winning over these people lately.'

Xavia whispered in Chloe's ear, "That’s right. On the outside, Mdm. Carolina treats you well but I’m

the one she likes best."

"Hmph, what’s there to like about you? An ugly woman who refuses to let Kenneth go?"
