Chapter 838 Going to See a Doctor
Jojo and Coco’s Unexpected Love
Noah was silent for a few seconds before saying, "Thereâs something I havenât told you about."
"Perfect timing. I am free right now." Desmond turned to his assistant. "You can leave. Iâm putting
you in charge of finalizing the share transfer contract. Iâll sign it with Coco today."
*
Inside the large office, Desmond sat in an antique chair, toying with the white chess pieces before
him. His expression was as calm as a gentle breeze. "Sit and tell me about it."
Noah remained standing with his head lowered, "I did something wrong and have upset you. Iâll
stand."
Desmond was not surprised by Noah's earnest attitude in admitting his mistake and asked, "What
happened?"
"I had a fight with Coco and was worried that you would see it when you got back, so I rashly had
George delete the surveillance footage."
"Fights between husband and wife are inevitable. There shouldnât be any need to delete the
footage."
Noah looked up and met Desmond's piercing gaze. As he trembled, his thoughts began to weave
together like a dense net, quickly formulating a response.
"I canât hide anything from you. This fight was no small matter. Coco wanted to end our engagement
and return to Joseph. Things were spiraling out of control. I had no choice but to take desperate
measures."
The chess piece Desmond was twirling between his fingers came to a stop. He thought back to
Harold's plea from earlier this morning, urging him to carefully consider Coco's marriage.
Noah silently observed Desmond's expression. Detecting no suspicion, he continued his
explanation, "I didnât want to let Coco leave, so I locked her in the room. But she was insistent on
leaving, and her mental state appeared to be unstable. I then coaxed and deceived her into meeting
a psychologist.
"The psychologist said it was necessary to administer her a sedative. When we got home, she
began to make a scene again. She left me with no choice but to subdue her. After that, I bared my
soul to her and persuaded her to abandon the idea of calling off the wedding.
âGrandfather, if you donât believe me, you can ask Chloe about it. But I worry that if you question
her, she may become distressed again. And in all this haste, I made a mistake and instructed
George to delete the footage."
Noahâs words rang with sincerity, and his eyes revealed conflicting emotions. It was a mixture of
regret and love for Chloe.
Desmond's brows knitted together. After a moment of silence, he said, "You may leave now."
Noah asked hesitantly, "Should I call Coco here?"
"No need."
In the office, Chloe's ten fingers tapped away at her keyboard. Suddenly, she slumped in her chair,
staring blankly and feeling deflated. All this was strange to her. She had obtained thirty percent of
Exotic Star's shares, and logically, she should have been happy. It was a triumph many would envy,
but her heart felt empty as though she had lost something important. Yet, there was not a hint of
sadness inside her.
âWhy do I feel this way?â Chloe wondered. But every time she began to think about it, her head hurt
and she had to stop.
At that moment, Emily's call interrupted her thoughts.
"What happened to you, Coco? I tried to call you yesterday but you didnât pick up. Did Noah hurt
you?"
"I was unwell, so I was sleeping," Chloe replied, her voice tinged with confusion. "Why would Noah
hurt me? He's been nothing but kind to me."
"Umm..." Emily hesitated, then sighed. "Forget it. Everythingâs fine as long as youâre safe. How are
you feeling today?" She found it hard to explain, knowing that Noah constantly doted on Coco.
"Better. I'm generally fine, but my head hurts when I try to think about things too much."
"You should see a doctor. Iâm near your office. Would you like me to go with you?"
Chloe thought this was a good idea and agreed. âOkay, send me your location. See you in a bit.â
