CH 22.2
Married To A Savage Duke
She remembered talking to Lecter, Axel, and Cole while drinking alcohol.
The three teenagers drank grape juice instead of wine, but they looked as excited as Cherryl.
She also recalled Axel trying to steal a drink in the middle of dinner, but he failed because Schiff had caught him.
Soon after, she jumped out of her seat to announce something during the toast, but fortunately, that part was a little faint.
Then, Cade hugged her after he walked her to her bedroom.
After searching her memories one after another, Cherryl soon recalled a strange kiss.
AAHHH!
She covered her eyes with her hands and let out a short scream.
Oh my god.
In addition, she even hugged Cadeâs neck in response to the rush of torrid kisses.
Cherrylâs pale face flushed like red watercolor paint permeating the white canvas.
Mrs. Bailey anxiously tilted her chin.
âAre you all right, My Lady?â
âIâm alright. Iâm alright, maam. I just thought of something embarrassingâââ
Cherryl drank a glass of water to get rid of the blush on her cheeks.
Even so, the traces Cade had left last night were unlikely to disappear.
âYou must have a lot on your mind regarding last night.â The maid gave her a gentle smile as she refilled her empty cup with water. âWhen youâre done eating, just pull the rope and call me. Iâll be getting ready before we go out.â
âThank you, maâam.â
âDonât forget to drink the potion, as well.â Mrs. Bailey reminded her again before she got out and closed her bedroom door.
âWhoo-hoo.â
âThe young lady is so adorable.â
âIt must have been a hard night for her but at least, she looks happy!â
Young maids were whispering at the end of the hallway, looking as excited as schoolgirls at that age.
âYou saw it as well, right? The lord exited her bedroom last night!â
âThatâs right. The cold dukeâs face were all red!â
âOh, my God. Then, did the two of themâ-?â
âThereâs nothing wrong with the couple doing it because theyâre about to get married. Only the people watching their romance unfold get lonely. Oh well~â
The maids were laughing and enjoying themselves.
It appeared like other peopleâs love story was far more interesting  than theirs.
Moreover, the subject of gossip was their icy lord, who seemed to have no emotion.
He didnât look like heâd be interested in someone.
The castleâs atmosphere changed from winter into spring after he went out of the castle one day and brought his bride-to-be.
Cherryl and Cade had lived together in this castle for a short time but the two only met twice since the first day she arrived at Carlsvik.
Nevertheless, it was easy for everyone to notice.
The day Cherryl arrived at the fortress, all the servants witnessed Cade show his caring side by wrapping her with a blanket.
A maid, who was observing them from the window, was so shocked that she dropped her wiping cloth.
While working, Cade would gaze absentmindedly at the spire sometimes, and then, his hardened countenance would soften⦠including last night.
When Cherryl got drunk during the dinner held at the main castle, he carried her and took her to her residence.
It was obvious that he didââ
Didnât he spend such a long time in there?
He even came out of Cherrylâs bedroom with his chiseled cheekbones red.
âThat wasnât like the lord.â A maid commented.
Cade couldnât seem to leave as he paced in front of her bedroom door in disappointment.
In the end, he dragged his palm to his handsome face in frustration and rushed out of the tower.
Mrs. Bailey approached the excited maids, gossiping about their lord falling in love, and placed her hands on her waist.
âEveryone, stop talking about things that are better off hidden.â
âOh! Weâre sorry, maam!â
âWhat if the lord or lady hears about this? You shouldnât talk about their private life so casually. Go back to your positions.â
The maids quickly lowered their heads and scattered off to return to their designated areas.
Despite scolding them severely, Mrs. Bailey actually thought the same thing.
She was working for the previous Grand Duke even before Cade was adopted.
When Cade was young, he was severely bullied by his predecessor as well as his grumpy successors that it was painful for everyone to see.
It was no exaggeration to say that Cade, who had never smiled since he first came in Carlsvik, probably lost his smile forever because of them.
When their disdain towards him caused a terrible misfortune, Cade became the Grand Duke of the North.
However, Mrs. Bailey thought this development was even better.
All of the Grand Dukeâs deceased family members were born dark and evil.
They treated their servants horribly and nobody would have believed their bloodline came from a famous hero in history.
Rather, it was Cade, the adopted son, who had the dignity to match the Blkanovâs name.
Mrs. Bailey, a long-time maidservant of the Blkanov family, used to doubt if Cade was the real enemy.
Anyway, she was glad there was someone with a beautiful soul who made his heart beat again.
These two must have been so intense last night when they made love.
âI think youâre going to enjoy your date today, My Lady. Iâll hurry up and prepare some refreshments for you.â
Even at this age, the maid hurried her steps as she thought about how foolishly excited she felt for the lord and ladyâs future.
