CH 34.2
Married To A Savage Duke
Keeping herself awake despite all of that was not a talent of hers.
âI had a strange dream.â
Cherryl, who reviewed the events last night, looked up at Cade in a daze.
âWhat was your dream?â
âA wolf suddenly appeared out of nowhere, bit my shoulder, and licked me. I felt very strange.â
âAh.â
âI ran away but he still barked and followed me. When I turned around, the wolf wagged his tail in excitement and it had this strange expression that didnât go well with wild animals. It looked like a pervert.â
The black wolf had licked her shoulders damp and even bit her with his fangs.
It was impressive to realize that the wolfâs flashing golden eyes were exactly similar to Cadeâs but Cherryl didnât dare admit that.
Cade smiled and lowered his eyes.
âYou must have been very scared.â
âItâs just a dream about a dog. No. Not a dog but a wolf.â
Cherryl stuttered and buried her face in the pillow.
Then, she suddenly noticed that she could no longer feel the blanketâs weight over her and her deep blue eyes widened.
She sat up quickly.
âMy body feelsâââ
Oh god!
She must have kicked the blankets again.
Due to her poor sleeping habits, she occasionally kicked the blankets and the bedsheets, pushing them away from her feet and dropping them out of bed.
Every time she opened her eyes, Cherryl would find herself in a mess and she didnât like Cade to see her in this appearance.
Cherryl scoured the hem of her nightgown.
As expected, the blanket was thrown over her feet but the clothes she was worried about were fine without having to touch them.
Itâs a relief that Cade hadnât seen her legs.
Cherryl exhaled, leaning her head against the headboard.
Cade, who watched her getting flustered in silence, pulled the blanket over her to cover herself.
âYou should sleep more. Iâll wake you up in a little while.â
âNo. I want to get up now.â Cherryl replied drowsily and pushed away the soft bedding with determination.
No matter how sleepy she was, she couldnât fall asleep again after mumbling before him.
She didnât want to be treated as a patient just for sleeping for fourteen hours like the last time.
Cherryl rubbed her stiff shoulders.
âDid you sleep well, Your Grace?â
âYou hit me in your sleep and took the blanket away from me, so how could I?â
Something flashed in her mind as if cold water was poured over her head.
âReally, Your Grace? Did I hit you while I slept and even snatched the blanket away?â
She thought it was fortunate that she had woken up without her nightgown betraying her but the real problem seemed to have occurred in the middle of the night.
The Grand Dukeâs words were quite plausible considering her weird sleeping habits.
Cherryl touched her forehead in apprehension.
She couldnât look at him straight in the eye for making such a big mistake.
âIâm just kidding, Lady Cherryl.â Cade withdrew his statement casually.
Cherryl, who was busy thinking about how to apologize, parted her lips in surprise.
Warmth flushed her cheeks as she threw him a resentful look.
This guy had been reallyââ
âWhy are you jesting? I almost believed every word you said.â
Cade smirked a little and paused as if he was choosing his words carefully.
âLast night felt like a dream because it was the first time I had felt so peaceful. Thanks to you, I slept comfortably all night without waking up at a random time.â
Although, Cadeâs morning felt as heated as a battlefieldââ-
Cherryl stopped complaining about his mischievous prank and shut her mouth.
âI didnât do anything specialâââ She spoke with hesitation. âââbut Iâm glad you slept comfortably.â
âDid you sleep well too, My Lady?â
âAside from the strange dream, I slept well, too. Itâs been a long time since I woke up without any mishaps with my clothes.â
Awkward and heavy silence ensued as the tension in the atmosphere rose.
ââ¦â¦.â
â?â
Cherryl should have known the reason immediately.
âYou look a little nervous.â
For a person who just told her a joke, Cade was subtly stiff but alert.
As she looked back on his actions so far, neither did he hug Cherryl along with his morning greeting nor did he kiss her on the neck.
He didnât do anything at all.
He had slept well thanks to her and she expected him to convince her to do that again in the future, but there was no sign of that.
She even noticed him secretly keeping a distance from Cherryl.
Was it just her who thought this way?
Cherryl, who was tilting her chin in question, coughed slightly to warm her locked throat up.
Then, Cade poured water into a clean glass for her.
âThank you.â
She was about to take the water he offered, but she  suddenly found something shiny on his shirt.
A long, curly, silver-blonde hair strand was attached at the end of his collar.
Of course, it belonged to Cherryl so she naturally reached out a hand to remove it.
âHere, Your Grace.â
It wasnât a big deal.
Even if it was stuck on someone elseâs clothes, not Cade necessarily, she would have taken it as well as if it was nothing.
However, as soon as he saw Cherrylâs hand on  his shirt, he retreated from her and frowned in blatant refusal.
âOh my!â
Surprised by the sudden movement, Cherryl missed the cup he was holding out to her and the glass of water hit her chest and it also fell on her crotch.
The thin nightgown got wet, revealing her curves.
