Chapter 33

Epilogue

My Mate

Torin tried not to squeal, I could see he was struggling in the way his freckled face turned red and his cheeks puffed out. He looked about ready to combust from the excitement.

Chuckling, I scooted closer as Torin started cooing before even getting a good look at the pup. Pulling down the white blanket he was bundled up in, we finally got a clear view of the round face and chubby cheeks. My Mate about lost his shit.

"Oh! Oh! Look, he's opening his eyes!" Torin was trying to stay quiet but his words were squeaky. We watched the pup open his large eyes to reveal the greenish-hazel tone. When his little tongue stuck out, Torin tried to pull the pup impossibly closer to his chest.

I couldn't help but to stare at him gush over the newborn. The sound of his excited giggles and the soft tone he took when talking to the pup.

Shaking my head, I leaned over to look over the little pup whose eyes looked around. He had a head full of dark hair that I gently brushed my fingers over. It was as soft as I imagined.

"Can I have my pup back?" Calvin asked not even a full five minutes after handing the pup over to Torin.

"No." Torin deadpanned, pulling the pup against his chest possessively.

I snorted and Calvin rolled his eyes before taking his pup from his brother's arms. Torin pouted cutely and I couldn't help but lean over and kiss his cheek.

"I want one." Torin whined, turning to me with big pleading eyes.

I choked on my spit, going into a coughing fit as my Mate just stared up at me. We were nowhere near ready to start a family. We'd only completed our Mate bond a few months ago. I was just settling into my position as Alpha and Torin was getting use to being Luna. He was a natural at that though and after everyone pushed aside their prejudice against runts, he was easily accepted. That didn't mean we were ready for pups of our own yet. Mrs. Frey would probably skin me. Torin was only just finishing up with school.

Kissing his cheek again and ignoring his words, I looked up at Calvin. The male was cuddling his pup in front of the window, in a world of his own.

Carmen was asleep in the large bed and we tried to keep quiet not to disturb her. It was a surprise for everyone when Calvin ran into the pack house with the very pregnant female screaming her head off. It wasn't uncommon though and the pack house was well supplied with everything needed for a successful and healthy birth.

Torin huffed and crawled onto my lap, resting his head on my shoulder. I wrapped my arms around my little Mate and breathed in his comforting scent.

It wasn't hard to imagine him round with our pups, or little red headed pups running around.

Not so long ago, I'd dared to steal a kiss. It wasn't the one Torin remembered, a kiss that I still enjoyed as much as the first. Our first kiss had been in front of the pack house, the lawn covered in toilet paper. We had to lean against each other to stay upright. We'd both had too much alcohol to drink. Maybe that's what had given me the courage to go for it. To press a quick kiss to his lips before pulling back in surprise. I remember seeing the surprise I felt reflected in Torin's dark eyes. Until he pulled me down for another, his body pressed flush against my own. I think I knew then. I at least suspected it, that this little male could be my Mate.

Torin, with the adorable gap and cute giggle. The lonely little wolf who could be sassy and awfully clumsy. I wanted him to be my Mate, had begged the Goddess to make it so. I had searched for so many years, and right here was this perfect male who I had so easily fallen for.

Those big onyx eyes looked up at me, as if already knowing where my thoughts had drifted. His lips pressed against the small bite mark peaking out from under my shirt collar. The mark he'd given me when we completed our mating the night of our Ceremony. My own mark was prominent in the juncture of his neck, for everyone to see. For everyone to know—he's mine.

Groaning from the bed gained all of our attention. Torin scrambled up and rushed over to the female, asking if she needed anything, offering water that had been on the nightstand. So eager to help.

Carmen accepted the water, allowing Torin to direct the straw to her lips.

"Are you in any pain? Should I go get a doctor or nurse?" Torin didn't wait for her response and instead ran out of the room in a flash. I prayed he didn't fall and get himself hurt on the way.

Calvin smiled at his girlfriend, moving to sit on the edge of the bed and show off the small pup in his arms. He tried passing the pup to her but the female shook her head.

"I'm tired." She murmured, looking away from the two.

"I found a nurse!" Torin came back yelling. His foot caught on the rug and I jumped up, grabbing him before he met the floor with his face. He bounced on his toes, smacking his lips against mine before rushing over to Calvin. I chuckled watching him try to sweet talk his brother into letting him hold the pup. The male only agreed when Torin promised to stay seated.

My Mate ran back over to me, his excitement and happy mood so contagious that I couldn't help but to smile with him. He cuddled close to me on the couch, getting comfortable.

"Okay! Bring little Toris to his favorite uncle." Torin grinned, holding out his arms and wiggling for the little pup.

"That's not his name." Calvin grumbled, gently passing the pup over. Torin didn't care to answer, all of his attention was now on the newborn in his arms.

The nurse made sure Carmen was okay and comfortable. She assured the new mother that her pup was perfectly fine and as healthy as can be.

I watched the female as she picked at the blanket. I'd never cared much for her but then again, I didn't really know her. What I knew was that my best friend seemed to like her and she was there for him this past year. She filled a void that his Mate should have. I'd always encouraged Calvin to join me on my search for my Mate but he'd always declined. He's the only wolf I've met who didn't want a Mate.

He'd once confided in me that the whole Mate bond was unwanted. He rather make his own connections with someone than blindly accept something he had no choice in. I hadn't argued with him about it. But after experiencing the joy that came from having my Mate, I knew it would be hard for anyone to reject such a bond. Why would you want to reject it? I'd never felt so complete, so comfortable and happy than I did now with Torin. This kind of thing couldn't be found with just anyone, only the one the Goddess chose could make you this happy.

"Carmen, have you chosen a name yet?" Torin asked, not looking up from the pup who'd gotten his arms out of the blanket and had a hold on Torin's finger. My Mate giggled, pressing a kiss to the pups fat cheek.

I glanced up when I noticed the female hadn't answered my Mate. She hadn't fallen back to sleep, so there was no excuse for her to ignore her Luna.

Calvin cleared his throat, glancing at his girlfriend before turning back towards us. "I—We, we were thinking Benjamin."

"Little Benji." Torin squealed. "Benjamin Toris Frey!"

His brother rolled his eyes. "If Carmen doesn't mind, his middle name could be Toris."

Torin's head snapped up and he stared at Carmen with those puppy eyes. Thankfully they weren't directed at me, it was impossible to deny him anything when he turned those damned eyes on me.

"Whatever." Carmen said, voice dull.

The room door swung open and an older redhead came breezing in followed by the burly male.

"Where's my grandpup?" Mrs. Frey demanded before her eyes softened when she caught sight of the pup in Torin's arms. "Oh my Goddess," she breathed. "Let me see."

Torin reluctantly handed over the pup. I chuckled and pulled him up with me to let his parents sit.

"I think this is our que to go."

"But why?" Torin looked up at me with a frown, still intent on seeing his nephew.

"We should let Benji rest after he meets his grandparents." I said softly, cupping my Mate's cheek.

He sighed in defeat and nodded.

After saying goodbye to everyone, I led us out of the room and kept my little Mate tucked under my arm. He greeted everyone we passed happily. The perfect Luna.

"Where are we going?" Torin asked once we stepped outside.

"It's a surprise." A smirk lifted my lips as I waited for him to complain.

"Robert!" He whined.

Snorting, I leaned down and shut him up with a kiss that left us both light headed and out of breath.

"Let's go to our room." Torin whispered, pressing as close as he could to me.

I laughed loudly, kissing my horny little wolf again. "I love you."

He smiled brightly as he did every time I said those words. "I love you more!"

"Impossible." I teased, nipping at him cute button nose.

"It's true." He shrugged with a roll of his eyes. "I said it is."

Wrapping him up in my arms, I breathed in the comforting scent of home. I couldn't thank the Goddess enough for giving me Torin. My sweet little wolf. My Mate.
