Chapter - 34 Mr know it all
It began with a kiss ✓
"Have you stared enough, Miss Rose?" his voice brought her out of her reveries. His lips lifted from a corner imitating a smirk. She blushed and quickly turned her head away.
"So what were you thinking about?" he asked.
She could feel his gaze on her but still maintained her attention at the passing buildings and trees which she was hardly noticing.
"Nothing." she replied.
"That has to be one big lie, Miss Rose." Liam chuckled. "Was I the subject of your interesting thoughts?"
'This guy!' she was caught red handed but there was no way on heaven and earth that she would admit to that. So she finally turned her head to look at the handsome beast sitting beside her.
"Don't flatter yourself, Mr Richardson."
"Flattering myself is not something that I ever do, Miss Rose. It's just that people love to sing my praises." He said with a small shrug.
"So I hope this time you weren't making me a mafia or an arrogant CEO in your colourful head."
She blushed guiltily.
"No! I did nothing like that!"
"But the last time-"
"That was all because I was overworked and tired. I couldn't get enough sleep and the plot of the novel I was reading at that messed a little with my brain."
"A little?" he asked raising a mocking brow.
"Ok ok. I apologize."she finally said raising hands as if accepting defeat.
"Now please don't remind me of that embarrassing incident again and again.
He grinned. The way he was looking at her as if she was the only living thing in this whole big world made her heart race a little faster. She quickly averted her gaze.
"You can look at me for as long as you want." he said in a laughing tone.
" I wasn't looking at you." she turned around to defend herself.
"But now you are." he said with the self satisfactory smile.
'God!' she groaned inwardly.
She can handle the workaholic, nitpicky and arrogant Liam Richardson but handling the flirty and teasing Liam Richardson was a completely different thing. Something she was sure she could never do. 'Damn it!'
"But still Miss Rose, are you sure your thoughts weren't related to me?" he asked eyeing her.
"I'm 110% sure."
"But I saw some dirty thoughts in those beautiful brown eyes of yours." he chuckled.
She blinked looking at him clearly shocked at his choice of words and then quickly looked at the driver in front nervous as to what he would think about her.
"Don't worry he never hear anything he isn't supposed to."said Liam coolly.
She looked back at Liam,"Mr Richardson,-"
But before she could say any further Liam placed a finger on her lips. She lost her words at the slight touch of his skin on her lips. Her heart started beating fast. She blinked at him in confusion but before she could ask anything Liam started speaking.
"My beautiful Evangeline, with your level of acting we will end up in trouble with an unaccomplished mission."
She frowned wondering what made him say that. He looked at her beautiful troubled face, his finger still on her lips,"Don't you know couples call each other by their name? Have you ever heard of a couple using honorifics? Hmm?" He now moved his finger from her lips and slightly touched her cheek. "Now call me by my name."
She blinked at him. Surprised.
"B- but you are my employer -"
"Eva, we are not going there as an employer or employee. This isn't a business meeting. You are meeting my grandmother as my girlfriend."
"Fake girlfriend." she interrupted again. An interruption that Liam chose to ignore.
"So call me by my name."
"O- Ok." she moved her eyes away from his and looked infront. She herself wasn't sure what exactly was she looking at but knew well enough that he was still watching her and this knowledge made her even more nervous.
Irritated, she turned to look at him,"Why are you staring at me now Mr Richards-"
Her words got lost when Liam placed a kiss on her cheek. She went quiet. Everything around her went quiet. The only thing that was making noise was her wretched heart which had now started to beat uncontrollably fast. Her cheeks turned red.
"W- What was that?" she asked still in a state of shock.
"A reminder that we are a couple."
"You could have told me!"
" I had told you but you seem to have a weak memory. So if you forgot again I will remind you using this way." he said giving that heart-stopping wolfish grin.
"Mr Ri-"
"Huh?'' he raised a brow making her stop and chew back on her words. Oh how much she wanted to keep everything formal. The more formal, the less attraction. But calling him by his name felt too intimate. It was a strange experience as it had never happened to her ever before.
"Eva," he caught her attention again,"tell me one thing."
"What?"
"You have never dated anyone before. Right?"
If previously she was irritated then now she was frustrated. Why the heck was he asking about her non existent love life! She was single since the time she was in her mother's womb. But there was no way in hell that she was ever going to admit that. Especially in front of this man.
"So?"he prompted waiting for her to answer.
"I have had many boyfriends." she tried to sound honest.
"Really?" he relaxed into his seat. His gaze focused on her. He smirked,"Then why do you always get so nervous at even a little touch of mine?"
" I don't get nervous!" she protested.
"Really?" he leaned forward and taking her hand in his he made her touch her own cheek. Her cheek was burning hot. "See you are so nervous and tensed that your cheeks are almost red."
"W- well that's perfectly normal. I am a straight woman and you are so gorgeously handsome." she tried to defend the actions of her traitorous body.
"Am I gorgeously handsome?" he grinned looking at her.
'Damn Eva!' she bit on her tongue.
" I am a straight woman and any women will react like that. There's nothing big about it."
"Really?"
If he was trying to annoy her then he was succeeding, Eva admitted. She wanted to jump out of the car so that she could escape this conversation but then again she was afraid of speed and did not want to end up on a hospital bed. She was trying her best not to burst in anger.
'This guy is teasing me from the second he sat beside me.'
"So how many boyfriends?"
She smiled cheesily at him before answering,"I have been dating since kindergarten so I have lost the count now."
"Really?" he chuckled.
"Why are you laughing?"
" I never saw you on a call with your boyfriend. I never saw you any guy around you."
"You saw me with Mark."
"He's just your friend." he said looking confident while she wondered where that confidence of his was coming from.
" I have a life outside office and I don't bring my private affairs to work."
"Most of your hours are spent working for me and in the remaining few hours you can only manage something to eat and grab some sleep. You don't have time for anything else."
"Don't you think you should feel guilty then that you are making me work so much that I don't have time for any time left for myself?"
"No. I am not sure sorry at all because if you are working for me then you need to work hard."
She was now getting more and more irritated with every passing second.
Why does he have the answer to each and every question related to her private life, she wondered. But she wasn't planning to let him crown himself as "Mr know it all".
So she finally decided to ask,"How can you be so sure that I don't like someone?" she asked with a smirk on her face that she had recently learned from looking at him.
