Chapter - 37 Lunch fiasco

'Should I tell him about the threat Louisa gave me?' Eva wondered. But she wasn't sure how he would react so she decided to tell him later.

"The dinner was a bit uncomfortable. I mean your grandmother with whom I had gossiped and then the girl who was supposed to be your fiance-"

"Ok, leave it." Liam interrupted taking her hand in his he rubbed gently on her palm.

"Do you want me to take you to a restaurant? So that you can eat if you are still hungry."

"No. I am full." Eva quickly replied. The threat that she had received minutes ago was making her want to throw up. She just wanted to be in the safe confines of her room at the moment.

"Alright, then. I'll drop you to your apartment." Liam told the driver address of her apartment. The journey to her apartment for short. As they reached there Liam helped Eva out of the car and asked,"Are you sure you don't want me to come up with you?"

"Why would I want you to come up with me?" Eva asked looking slightly confused.

"Am I not your boyfriend?" he asked with a wolfish grin.

"Mr Richardson, I'm tired. Good night." Eva laughed.

He gave her a quick kiss on her cheek and ignoring the shocked expression on her face he headed towards his car but then he turned around and said,"Go inside now."

Smiling she headed into the building. The cold feeling of threat was now replaced by warmth.

She was lying on her bed thinking about the past few hours that had upgraded her from position of a mere assistant to New York's most eligible bachelor Liam Richardson's girlfriend.

"Fake girlfriend." she corrected herself.

She had come to the realisation that she had started to like him but now was the time to let the logic in and emotions out because if not then she knew she would end up with a broken heart.

"No. I am going to avoid him. I can't fall for him. I don't want to love someone who can't reciprocate my feelings." With her mind made she went to sleep.

Next day while entering the office building someone tapped on Eva's shoulder. She turned around and found a smiling Mark standing in front of her.

"What are you doing here?'' Eva asked looking surprised.

" I missed you so I decided to pay you a visit." Mark grinned as Eva laughed.

"Stop kidding."

"Do you remember I told you that I work for in advertisement company?" Eva nodded and Mark continued,"So, I am hired to work here to make Liam Richardson's hotels a bit more famous."

Amelia came from behind and putting one arm around Mark's shoulder and the other around Eva's she said,"And since my cousin is here that calls for a celebration."

"Yes, of course." Eva smiled.

"So Eva you have to come for his welcome party."

"Alright, I'll be there. But when and where?"

"Our usual spot, the café. Since everyone is busy this celebration will be small but we can hold a bigger celebration later on."

" OK I will be there." Eva promised.

They all ascended to their respective floors. As Eva reached the 50th floor she entered her small cabin and started the computer.

She was glad that Liam's schedule for the day was full of meetings. He had one meeting after the other. She had decided to lessen her contact with Liam.

''The less I see him, the less I will think of him and the lesser will be my chances of falling for him.'' she smiled ruefully because she knew that now she needed to leave. Leave his world before entering it.

And she would have no regrets of leaving his world and that she was happy that she will not have to see much of him or so she told herself.

Finally it was lunch time Eva picked up her purse and headed for the café. As she reached the cafe she looked around for her group of friends when she finally saw Amelia waving her hand. Her friends were sitting at their usual spot making a big circle. She started to walk towards them. This was the place she belonged to not the glamorous world of Liam Richardson. This was the place where she felt comfortable where her heart felt at ease, she smiled to herself.

She took the seat emptied for her next to Mark.

"Oh Eva, it feels such a long time." said Amelia.

"Yeah, the last time we had lunch like this was about three weeks ago." said Amelia.

"When we played truth and dare game." said Natasha.

'God! Since morning I am trying my best not to think about him but now his talks have followed me here.' Eva groaned.

"Shall we play truth and dare again to refresh our memories?" Natasha suggested.

''No!"Eva refused quickly before anyone could answer.

"Do you hate the game that much?" Mark asked.

Natasha interrupted,"Last time while playing truth and dare she was given a dare to kiss the first person that enters from that door."

"Sounds interesting." Mark grinned.

"Mark, you were late just by a few minutes that day if you had arrived just a few minutes earlier than you would have been the first to enter from that door." said Amelia.

"Seems like I wasn't on much luck that day. So who was that lucky person?"

"Liam Richardson." said Natasha looking way too excited.

"That was the first time I saw him in flesh. Earlier I had seen just some photos of his but in flesh he looks so damn handsome."

"Natasha stop making us feel bad about ourselves." interrupted Bob.

"I am not saying that you are bad but Liam Richardson is just another level." said Natasha. She was the gossip queen of the office and she actually deserved this title more than anyone else, Eva acknowledged as Natasha continued,"I've heard that he is very strict and when Eva kissed him I had thought that he would fire her."

'Seems like everyone was waiting for me to be fired.' Eva sighed.

"But what happened was unbelievable! She got the job of his secretary's assistant."

"Maybe because she is intelligent and hardworking, Natasha." interrupted John.

"Yeah, she is of course. No doubt about that." Natasha smiled at Eva.

"So Eva, how does working for Liam Richardson feels like?''

"Er- he is nice." Eva answered with a smile on her face while inwardly the truth was screaming.

'He blackmails people into doing what he wants!'

"But I swear from that day he has entered the office building I have been working even on weekends. It feels like I'm growing old and weak every passing day."Bob complained.

"How do you manage to work directly under him, Eva? I am amazed that you still haven't gone nuts from all this work pressure."

"Eva, I have heard people describing him as a workaholic, intelligent and handsome. If you were to describe him in one word then what would you call him?" asked Natasha looking very curious.

At the moment the only thing that intimidated Eva more than Liam was Louisa who had entered her life because of her arrogant boss. For the first time in her life she had received a threat which to Eva sounded like a death threat and the person who had brought this upon her was Liam Richardson. So if she were to describe him in one word then should call him..."Grim reaper."

"What?" everyone looked at her surprised and then they laughed.

"How did you manage to come up with something like this?"

"Just like death that guy can appear from anywhere and anytime. You can't stop him and his sudden appearances can give you a heart attack. You see, at the moment he is busy in his meetings but in the blink of an eye you all will see him standing behind me," she said pointing at her back while everyone in front of her looked pale as she continued,"Trust me. He can do that without making even a teeny bit of noise."

"Then do I scare you, Miss Rose?" A very familiar voice whispered in her ear...
