Chapter 22 - 22 The Lady Misunderstood

“What is this for?” Faced with such an imposing display, Shao He had not a trace of joy on her face.

Upon hearing this, Lady Jhiang immediately showed a smile, hurriedly quickened her steps to Shao He’s side, and pointed to the plaque, “We made this plaque especially for you, to thank you for healing my daughter’s illness.”

Jhiang Yijia walked over and took her hand, her face full of gratitude, “Thank you, Miss Shao, if it weren’t for you, I might never have had the chance to marry and have children.”

Shao He gave a faint smile, “Miss Jhiang is too kind, as a doctor this is my duty.”

Having said this, she turned her gaze to the plaque in between, which read “Miraculous Healing” in four large characters.@@novelbin@@

Jhiang Yijia took out an invitation from her bosom and handed it to her, her tone sincere, “Should you have any needs in the future, you can find me at the Ministry of Households’ Vice Minister’s Mansion.”

“Miss Jhiang, I…” Shao He hesitated.

Lady Jhiang smiled from the side, “Doctor Shao, don’t decline any further, you saved my daughter’s life, we will certainly help you with any needs you might have.”

Shao He held the handed-over invitation, feeling like she was holding a hot potato, and couldn’t help but remember the previous warning the masked man had given her.

Having already regarded Shao He as her daughter’s lifesaver, upon knowing she had a child, Lady Jhiang specifically had someone make this pair of jade bracelets, seeing this, Shao He felt it would be inappropriate to refuse any further and could only bring the two individuals into the room.

In the chamber, the child was still sound asleep, Lady Jhiang sat by the bed, her eyes full of tender love as she looked at such a well-behaved child, gently holding him in her arms, extremely pleased.

Glancing up, she saw the man in the wheelchair outside, and felt a familiar sensation, prompting Lady Jhiang to look at him a few more times.

Shao He followed her gaze and noticed that the masked man had not left, blocking Lady Jhiang’s line of sight.

“In a few days, I will be leaving Anji Hall, and currently, I only wish to heal in peace, without drawing too much attention, I hope you will forgive me,” Shao He said with a slight bow, her attitude very humble.

Lady Jhiang was a wise woman and understood the implications of her words, put down the child, and nodded, “Of course, you go on with your work, we will come to visit you some other time.”

Shao He escorted them to the door, and suddenly, Lady Jhiang cast a sideways glance and asked, “The man wearing the mask just now, is he a friend of Doctor Shao?”

Shao He was startled, unsure why Lady Jhiang would ask such a question, and shook her head, “You are mistaken, lady, he is not my friend, just my patient.”

Hearing this, Lady Jhiang said no more.

As there were still patients waiting outside, Shao He left first.

Watching her thinning figure, Lady Jhiang couldn’t help but sigh.
