Chapter 36
My Husband Is A Secret Billionaire By Wiuu
Chapter 36
When he was sixteen, Wharton, the leader of the three major business schools in the world, had made
an exception to admit him, who was expected to be the heir to the Campbell family with high hopes
If it hadnât been for the dark hand of fate that led him into a plane crash, heâd already be calling the
shots at the Campbell Group.
Facing Janeâs inquisitive gaze, he simply returned her look with a small smile, choosing to remain mute
on the matter.
Jane, her lips pursed in a pout, was suddenly struck with a thought. âDid he have a sweetheart when
he was sixteen? They say a man never forgets his first love. He seemed quite excited when he started
talking about his teenage years, but then he just stopped. Maybe he didnât want me to knowâ¦â
There seemed to be no better explanation than this phantom sweetheart from his past.
A hint of melancholy passed through Janeâs eyes. Since Dan didnât want to talk about it, she wasnât
going to press
However, it left a little wrinkle in her heart.
Silently, she headed back into the bedroom to change the sheets. Next, she got a blanket and spread it
out on the living room couch.
Dan was taken aback for a few seconds before a realization dawned on him. Abruptly, he seized her
wrist, âWhy⦠why are you making up the couch again?â
Jane turned to face him, âWhatâs wrong with that?â
âEverything!â His voice was strained as he tried to maintain calm. âDidnât you say I could come back. to
the bedroom tonight? Werenât we going toâ¦â
âMy brother has just been beaten up, and youâre still in the mood for that?â Jane shot him a hard look.
The earlier mention of his past âsweetheartâ had already rattled her, and her temper was quick to flare
up.
âBailey wonât be going home tonight. If I, his sister, wonât take him in, then who will?â
Dan, oblivious to the underlying issues, felt like her change of attitude was⦠somewhat abrupt.
âHeâs staying tonight? And the couch is for him?â
âFor me,â Jane answered, stone-faced.
âWhat did you say?â Dan gaped at her. âYouâre not suggesting Iâ¦â
âYes,â her voice was cool and detached. âYou and Bailey can bunk together in the bedroom, and Iâl take
the couch.â
âBut thereâs only one bed in the room!â
âNo problem, itâs big enough for both of you, Jane thrust a pillow into his hands. âYou two can have your
âman-to-manâ chat in there!â
Speechless, Dan took several deep breaths to calm himself.

In the meantime, Jane had already called Balley back from the balcony. After a quick wash-up, she
ushered him off to the bedroom to get some rest.
Obedient as always, Bailey complied and made his way to the bedroom.
Dan felt a throbbing pain in his temples, like someone banging on a drum.
Summoning all his courage, he stepped in, positioning himself on the other half of the bed. It was a first
for him, hitting the hay in the marital bed since tying the knot. The rub was there was another man
beside him!
Dan huffed out a heavy sigh.
His hour-long stint in the bathroom was a waste of time!
Hearing his restless tossing and turning, Bailey, unable to sleep himself, propped himself up on the
headboard and struck up a conversation.
âDo you think Iâm a pushover, Dan? Always at the mercy of bullies.â
Bailey was a softy at heart with top-notch grades, but he was too straight-laced for his own good, a
constant sense of inferiority haunting him due to his family circumstances.
At first glance, Dan had intimidated him, but when Dan had called him to the balcony, offering patient
advice and vowing to take his side⦠He suddenly perceived that this man, appearing dark and aloof,
was a rock to lean on.
âYouâre right, Dan,â he murmured. âEveryone should be self-reliant, especially us men. Iâll take a leaf
out of your book to guard my sister and family in the future.â
Dan, lying with his back to him, remained mum.
âWhy so quiet?â Bailey inched closer for a look. âMissing my sis beside you, arenât you?â
âOf course!â Dan Murphy cursed in his heart.
But he bit the bullet and squeezed out three words, âNot at all.
âOh, good then,â Bailey grinned sheepishly. âIâm truly sorry for disturbing you tonight⦠I mean, I didnât
intend to land Sis in hot water, but I got roughed up, was down in the dumps, and Sis was the only one
I could rely on.
âDan, you wonât blame me, right?â
âNot at all,â Dan closed his eyes tightly, silently praying for Bailey to put a sock in it.
âDan,â Bailey wrinkled his nose. âWhatâs that smell? You smell good!â
Dan was speechless.
âDo you always smell this good before sleeping with my sis?â
âShut up!â Dan growled, âTime to sleep!â
