Appendix 3: Petraea

The Chronicle of Aelaranthae Empire: The Bloom of Aelaranthae Empire

APPENDIX 3: PETRAEA

Petraea was a kingdom of craftsmen and Artisans. They believed that to perfect a craft, it would take many years. Hence they often look down on youngsters for they are inexperienced, their hands were clumsy and they didn’t have that soul of artisans. However, all of that changed when goods from the Aelaranthae Empire were liked more by their customers. They were cheaper, but since it was made by a machine and precision tool, the old craftsmen looked down on it.

They extolled how their craftsmanship was superior to Aelaranthae goods. They didn’t realize there is beauty in precision. And so, these youngsters were cast out. However, the Aelaranthae empire accepted them. Then, with the empire’s support, they built the first prototype muskets. Which had become the backbone of the Aelaranthae Empire military even a century later.

The old craftsmen looked down at it at first, but when they realized they couldn’t replicate the machining process, it soon turned into jealousy. The final straw was when a leader of Petraea decided to steal supplies meant to defend their own province. The civilians soon realized that their cherished industry had stagnated too long and soon went to the better, greener fields. Unlike Antheria, the craftsmen tried to make amends. They knew if they kept their stubborn heads, their fate would be the same as Antheria, the faded empire. The era has changed.

So, Petraea paid an enormous sum of money to the Aelaranthae Empire for the deeds they did back when they stole Ae Mercenary’s supplies. The lord of the region that commanded those provinces was hanged and all of their officers were fired. The people had condemn the act so much that Petraea council of foremen had to issue a formal apology to Aelaranthae Empire to regain their reputation. Things that they never did in the last fifty years.

Petraea finally admitted its fault and began appreciating the young workers. Nevertheless the damage was done. So, only rejects that lose the competition in the Aelaranthae empire went back. It would take them a while for their reputation to recover.

The kingdom of Petraea would later be known as a kingdom that values tradition.

Doomfador, the place where Ae mercenary’s supplies were stolen, was faced with intense hatred and ridicule from friends and relatives of the deceased villagers due to the cultist.

They soon detached themselves from Petraea and formed an independent state. Nevertheless, Unlike Aelaranthae empire, they found no profit and their territory did not flourish. The stigma that their goods were cursed was still prevalent.

And so, Doomfador became a poor and desolate independent state, where rejects gathered.

Two hundred years later, due to rampant banditry caused by unemployed foremen in Doomfador, Aelaranthae empire and Petraea formed a subjugation army and erased the province from the map. It was now a barren wasteland, where only sand and cacti flourished.
