Chapter Four

Austin

Of course she goes to my party. She puts green dye in my shampoo and she pisses me off once more by coming to my party. I wrap my arms around her waist and pull her closer to me. She shoves her tongue inside my mouth and I tilt my head for better access.

I hear a crowd of people laughing and I pull away, looking for the commotion. Mindy or whatever her name is grabs my face and leans in put but I push her off my lap and stand up.

"Uh...thanks Mindy," I tell her.

"It's Amy," she narrows her eyes at me.

I look down at her and frown. "Okay, thanks Amanda." I turn around and head towards the living room.

"It's – never mind," she sighs. "I'll be here waiting!"

I shove the people and some make way for me to get to the front. I find Ren rolling around the floor and laughing her ass off. Are you kidding me? Who let the five year old in?

I look at the druggies on the couch and see them laughing hysterically at her. "What did you give her?" I ask them.

One of them shrugs, "She asked for a brownie so I gave her one."

Great. She's high.

I wrap an arm around her waist and pull her up. She looks at me and starts laughing again. I don't know why I'm helping this abomination, but it seems like the right thing to do. She makes it so difficult to walk so I put an arm under her knees and carry her bridal style and bring her upstairs to one of my guest rooms.

I settle her down on the bed and quickly went to the bathroom to grab a damp towel. I go back to room and find the bed empty. I look at the door and see it still closed then I hear her by the balcony screaming in joy. I drop the towel and run to her.

She gets ready to jump off but I pull her down. She wiggles out of my grasp. "Let go of me," she exclaims. "I want to fly!"

"If I do then you're going to fall and break your neck," I tell her firmly. "And that'll be the end of my reputation."

She rolls her eyes and continues to fight me. She kicks and punches me and it goes on and on. "Of course you only care about your reputation," she says.

I lock the balcony door with my free hand and put her on the bed. I tell her to stay like a dog before I bent down to grab the towel. I lie her on her back and put the towel on her forehead. She flinches. "It's cold," she mumbles.

"What do you mean I only care about my reputation?" I ask her.

"I mean you don't care about anyone but yourself!"

"I helped you, didn't I?" I raise an eyebrow at her.

"I didn't ask you too."

I sigh in frustration. I run my fingers through my hair and clench my jaw. God this girl's annoying. I leave the towel on her head and decide to head back to the party.

"Can you sing for me?" I hear her ask.

Yes, I can. But not for you. My voice is only for Amanda. Only her.

I don't tell her that so instead I open the door and turn to her, "Is your friend here? The hot one?"

She taps her chin, thinking. "The hot one...we, humans, are warm blooded so it makes it impossible for me to think of someone-"

"IS SHE?" I ask one more time but sternly.

She nods furiously. "Go to sleep," I tell her before closing the door. I head downstairs and start looking for that friend of hers. I find her immediately by the bar, taking shots with another girl. I approach and her eyes widen when she sees me.

"I'm taking Ren back to the UNI," I say nonchalantly.

She sways a bit before putting a hand on my shoulder. "Nu-uh mister. S-she's my b-b-best friend so my respon...responsi...responisbility," she points a finger at me. "I'll take her home." She stands up and barely walks a straight line. The girl she was with grabs her before she falls and sits her back down.

"You'll kill the both of you if you do," I point out.

"Why do you want to anyway?" she snaps at me. "Last I checked, you hate her."

I frown at her. "I don't your permission anyway," I tell her. "Don't drink too much," I add before heading back upstairs to my room to grab my keys then to the guest room.

I enter the room and see her sound asleep. I slowly lift her up and carry her in my arms and she snuggles closer to my neck. I get her back to the UNI and back to our dorm room.

Once I put her bed, she wraps herself in a blanket and starts to drift back to complete slumber. Suddenly, she starts laughing and I stare at her with my eyes wide.

"I went swimming with SpongeBob," she says. "He's wasn't that friendly."

Before exiting the room to head back to my party I hear her say, "Good night Austin."

"Good night Ren."
