Chapter Seven
Roommates
Chapter Seven
Austin
It smells heavenly and delicious. I sit up, keeping my eyes close. I tilt my head up to get a better whiff. My eyes shoot open. Pancakes. Everybody loves pancakes. I get out of bed and don't bother to grab a shirt before jogging down the stairs and to the kitchen.
I get to the kitchen and find Ren cooking. She hears me and turns to look at me. Well, she looks at my eight pack before meeting my eyes. She blushes and I smirk. What can I say? I'm irresistible.
"Good morning," she turns away and gets back to making pancakes.
"You're up early," I grab some milk from the fridge and pour it in a glass.
"Got hungry," she says.
When is this girl not hungry? "You're always hungry," I tell her.
"How many pancakes do you want?" she asks.
I tap my chin. "Five," I tell her and her eyes widen in surprise. "What?"
"Seems like I'm not the only one who's hungry," she laughs lightly and my skin tingles.
I furrow my brows in confusion. Her laugh made my skin tingle. What the fuck? I shake my head from that thought. I like Alanna, remember?
I finish two glasses of milk before joining her. Ren grabs the pan and tries to flip a pancake and I laugh at her attempt. She turns to me with her mouth open. I bring my hand up and close her mouth for her.
"Close your mouth princess," I tell her.
She ignores my statement and crosses her arms. "You're laughing like you can do better," she says.
"Pfft," I bump my hip against hers, making her move aside. "It's because I can."
I grip the handle hard and toss the pancake it the air. I tossed it too high it lands on my face. I scream and ran around the kitchen. "Hot pancake on my face!"
I grab the pancake and threw it to the ground. Ren is on the ground laughing her ass off. I cross my arms over my chest and watch her laugh and roll around the ground, clutching her stomach.
"You look like a retarded seal," I laugh. She stops laughing and the next thing I know is that I'm covered in powdered pancake mix. Ren starts laughing again and points at my face.
"And you look like Casper the friendly ghost," she manages to say while laughing.
"You think that's funny?" I grab a handful of pancake mix and throw it at her. Her jaw drops in shock.
"You're going to pay for that," she exclaims.
You can guess what happens next. We started our very own pancake war. Just as Ren grabs another handful of pancake mix, I wrap my arms around her tiny waist and she laughs as she tries to wiggle out of my grasp.
"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?"
I stop moving and so does Ren. I look up to see Alanna and Adam. Alanna's gaze shifts to my arms around Ren and I pull away immediately. Ren takes a step away from me and shuffles in place. I take a look around the kitchen and see pancake mix everywhere.
"You guys better clean up before Travis wakes up," Adam tells us before walking away.
"You guys need help?" Alanna asks. She's dressed in boxers and a white tee shirt that's too big for her. The shirt she's wearing is so thin, I can see the black bra she's wearing. Damn, she's hot.
"I think we're good-"
I cut Ren off. "Three is faster than two, right?"
Alanna grabs a rag and starts cleaning the cabinets. Ren peels the pancakes off the wall and I join her. "Remember that favor?" I whisper to her.
"Remember me saying no?" she mocks.
I roll my eyes and groan in frustration. "God, you annoy me." I walk away from her and decide to do this all on my own. I grab another rag and crouch down beside Alanna as she cleans the floor.
"So Alanna..."
She stops scrubbing the floor and turns to me. "Austin, I know what you're trying to do."
I raise an eyebrow at her. "If you mean striking a conversation with you then I guess I'm guilty," I bring my hands up.
"I heard you talking to Ren last night," she points out.
My face drops and I sigh, rubbing the back of my neck. "What did you hear?" I ask.
"Everything."
Well this is awkward. I glance at Ren's direction and she watches us curiously. Ren clears her throat. "Austin, I need help finding the bathroom."
I narrow my eyes at her. "Your guest room has-"
"Now."
Geez. I stand up without looking at Alanna and follow Ren out of the kitchen. "You're welcome," she says as she walks up the stairs with me following behind her. "I'm guessing she found out?"
"I thought she was asleep," I mutter under my breath.
"So what are you going to do?"
I look up at her, thinking of another plan. How do you get a girl's attention? I already have the looks and the body. What else could there be? Of course, a girlfriend to make the other girls jealous.
"I need you to be my fake girlfriend," I tell her.
She raises her eyebrows and from her expression, she doesn't like the plan. "I don't like this plan," she says. "But it's not like I have to agree to it anyway."
"Yeah, I don't need your agreement because you're doing it."
"No, I'm not."
I groan and pull onto my hair. "Stop being so annoying and just do it, will you?"
"Why can't you just find another girl?" she exclaims.
"Because I want you!"
Her eyes widen at my statement and I mimic her expression. "Want you to be my fake girlfriend because you're friends with Alanna meaning she'll be seeing more of me," I quickly correct.
"Right..." she trails off. "If I do agree to this, what do I get in return?"
I shrug, "I'll buy you food everyday."
Her eyes widen in joy. "Wait. Seriously?"
"Yeah whatever," I wave her off. "So you in?"
"Free food, heck yeah!"
