Chapter 14:

"Mom?!" I shrieked in surprise.

I looked wide eyed at the woman who'd raised me all my life as she stood in the doorway. It was when something moved closer to my mother that I became mortified. "Katherine, what's going on?" An older yet handsome man asked as he moved to my mother. He put his arms around her waist affectionately as he looked at her in concern. It was then his gaze moved to look into the room that I knew without a doubt whom he was.

"What's going on is that I smelled our daughter, Nathaniel." My mother spoke still looking at me. My eyes widened exponentially as I looked between the two. He looked so much better in person. He was even more handsome compared to the image of him from my mother's memories that I had seen and learned about him from. And his voice sounded so much more musical than all the times that I'd heard it in my head all these years. "Nathaniel, this is our daughter, Lilith Alux." My mother introduced never taking her eyes off of my face.

His eyes immediately moved to look at me with surprise. I immediately felt even more mortified because the father I have always dreamt of meeting's first impression of me was me half-naked on a bed with my half-naked mate inches away from me in a dimly lit room. It was the moment that his eyes marginally over that the look of surprise and wonder changed to a slow boiling rage. I cast a small glance to Oliver to see that he was wide-eyed and looking at the both of them. I watched as my father began to go for Oliver and Oliver immediately tensed as if to protect me. He held his body almost completely over mine, keeping my body from my parents' eyes.

"Who the hell are you?!" My father's angry voice rang out as he headed toward my mate. I wanted to push myself up to be a barrier between my father and my mate, but Oliver would not budge even slightly. But his tone almost caused me to growl at the man that I'd dreamed of meeting ever since I could remember; the man that had helped conceive me. But I was beat to it.

"Beta Oliver Lakes of Onyx Pack. Born second son to the late Alpha Robert Lakes of Onyx Pack." Oliver growled out in response to his question. My father's eyes moved between the two of us. I could see the anger still boiling in his eyes. "Lilith is my mate and Beta female of the Onyx Pack." Oliver continued with a glare upon my father still. He was a male wolf that felt another male was challenging to go near his female to take her; his wolf instincts told him to not hold back against this threat despite the other male being my father.

I softly placed my hands upon Oliver's cheeks and turned his head toward me. When his eyes met mine, the glare disappeared completely, and his eyes showed only love to me. I smiled softly to him, hoping it would relax him. Oliver leaned down to kiss my cheek lingeringly before slowly sitting up still holding me. I turned to look at my parents.

I watched as my father began to relax slightly upon seeing that I was alright. I also felt as Oliver relaxed the longer he held me still with him. "How about the two of us dress and then we can all discuss things somewhere else." I negotiated. My father nodded before moving back to the doorway where he grabbed onto my mother's hand lightly and pulled the door shut behind him.

I jumped off of the bed before grabbing Oliver's hand and pulling him up with me. Oliver and I immediately began to dress back into our clothes. When we'd dressed at least enough as neither of us were in our underwear anymore, we walked hand-in-hand out into the hallway. We followed my parents as they moved to the stairs and up to the floor set for the Alpha family. I didn't question it; I just followed behind them. We ended up in a roomy living room of sorts.

My parents sat on a small couch while Oliver and I sat in a chair across from them. I could see my father scowling from the corner of my eye as I sat on Oliver's lap slightly sideways. When we were all settled, we looked at each other. "Lilith, this is your father Nathaniel Aluxander Lacrus. We met years ago when I was drunk and fell into his arms. We had a one night stand that I caused because I was beyond drunk and knew he was my mate. That night, we conceived you and I ran the next morning. I was terrified that your father wouldn't like me the way I was sober, so I ran. It turns out that I was wrong. I'm sorry for what this has done to you." She explained. I watched as my father lightly grabbed her hand and kissed it as a way to calm her down. My mom smiled and leaned on him.

"Mom, this is Oliver Thomas Lakes. He's my mate that I found when I got lost trying to track down my father. I lied; I heard my father's name when you were remembering him, and I meant to find him. Oliver is the Beta to his brother, and he's extremely kind. I couldn't ask for a better mate." I spoke looking at both of my parents. Oliver kissed my temple lightly. I turned my head to look at him before kissing his cheek lightly. I looked at my father before taking a deep breathe. "I'm Lilith, Lili as Oliver has taken to calling me. I've spent so many years believing you didn't want me, yet I heard your desire to have my mother back and to have a little girl you could call Lili all those years. I wish you could have a better first impression of me, but I've been with Oliver for a while now, and I love him. I didn't know that either of you were here though I did think I had smelled something familiar when I'd first arrived. Now I realize that it was my mother's scent I'd smelled. But it is nice to meet you." I smiled slightly.

"How do I know he is worthy of having you?" My father asked still skeptical of Oliver. No male wolf liked a challenge from a young male when it included the wolf's daughter.

"I'm not worthy, but I will try every day to become worthy enough to have her smile at me. I do it because I want her, not just her body." Oliver glared back at the implied accusation. I rolled my eyes at that response.

"I think he's worthy and that's all that matters." I replied sternly. I looked straight into my father's eyes as I said this as well. Oliver had nothing to prove to me, ever.

I watched as my father stood up from his seat, avoiding my mother's hands as she grabbed for him, and moved toward the chair that Oliver and I were sat in. I didn't know what he was going to do, but I was surprised when he pulled me up into his arms. I immediately felt at home and wrapped my arms around him as he hugged me. He kissed my head lightly and breathed me in. He let me go and held my shoulders.

"I wish I could have watched you grow up for myself. I don't like that we met under the circumstances that we did, but I'm so glad to finally meet you. Your mother explained that she was searching for our pup, you, when she'd ran onto my territory. I am alpha here. So you and I would have meant eventually." He spoke with a smile. I smiled back at him despite the surprised look his title caused upon my expression. "I actually wanted to find a way to create a peace between our packs. I wanted to find a way to grow our packs together, but it seems the two of you have made it incredibly easy for me. Since you are my daughter, and your mate is the beta; I think we can all agree that we don't need to discuss any possibilities on how to go about this. Lilith, you are my only heir at this time and my eldest, so this pack is yours once I step down.

"I'm sure that your mate is more than suitable to become the alpha male to your alpha female. And I wish for it no other way." He said with smile. He looked behind me at Oliver. "You love my daughter, I can now see that clearly, so please inform your brother than we will be expanding our territories to meet and share a border. And please tell him that he may have to find a new beta because you're going to be a neighboring alpha as soon as my daughter takes her place here." He spoke with pride.

I smiled proudly up at my father. He believed in me and Oliver enough to be willing to give us the positions of Alpha to his pack. I looked up at Oliver when I felt his arms wind slowly around my waist. Oliver smiled down at me before kissing my cheek softly. "Well, I'd be honored to stand at your side my little alpha wolf," Oliver whispered softly into my ear. I just laughed lightly at his nickname. As Oliver pulled me back down onto his lap in the chair, my father moved back over to my mom whom gladly cuddled up to him as he smiled down at her.

"So mom, are you planning on giving me any siblings any time soon?" I asked with a smirk as my mom's cheeks burned beet red in response. My father, Oliver, and I all just chuckled at my mom's embarrassed reaction. Oliver's arms tightened lightly around me. I watched as my father kissed my mom's reddened cheeks multiple times lightly. She just pushed her face into my father's chest.

"I don't think any more children are in our cards. For one, you would be about eighteen or nineteen years older than your siblings, and it seems as if there will already be children in the near future for our family." My mom smiled slyly. I shook my head in humorous disbelief at her clear implication toward Oliver and I's earlier activities.

I playfully glared back at my mother while my father just rolled his eyes and sighed annoyed as, I'm sure, our first meeting flashed in his head. "Is that supposed to mean that you and dad haven't been busy in your downtime since you arrived here? I highly doubt that the two of you have been abstinent since being reunited. If I remember correctly, you once told Allison that despite all of the trouble that you went through afterwards, my dad was 'the best damn sex' that you've ever had. And if you were given the chance, you wouldn't hold back from doing it all over again." I slyly grinned back at my mom. At first, my dad's expression had become soft upon hearing me call him 'dad', but then his expression changed to an interested one.

I watched as my dad's interested expression turned to look down at my mom, whom had an expression of horror painted across her face, as an act of asking for confirmation from her. My mom's mouth opened and closed multiple times as if she were searching for the correct response to what I'd just revealed. I hugged Oliver's arms around me with a smile still happily sitting upon my lips.

"Well Katherine, is that actually what you told your friend?" My dad asked completely paying attention to my mom. Her eyes immediately shot to his face as the look of horror became worse. "Did you tell your friend that I was 'the best damn sex' you'd had and that you'd love to repeat it if you had the chance?" he continued.

Her head immediately turned toward me. "When did you ever hear me say that to Allison?" She asked. I held eight of my fingers as I mouthed the same number before smiling sweetly at my mother. She took a deep breath before she turned back to face my dad. "I have on occasion told my best friend about our night together as well as my opinion on it. I never knew that our eight year old daughter had ever heard me when I had. But can you blame me for my admission about our night together that not only was our first meeting, but also the night that we conceived our beautiful daughter?" My mom countered with a raise of her eyebrows. My dad had sat smiling smugly at my mother throughout her little confession.

"Oh, I've always known that I've wanted you back in my bed after our first meeting. Hell, I didn't want to leave your bed the morning after our first meeting, but the men with me needed to get back to their homes. Now I just think I should have had them just take the car to drive themselves back, at least then I could've at least had a little more time with you." My dad answered smugly before ending slightly saddened. His hand lightly caressed my mom's cheek.

My mom looked so saddened as well. I could see that my mom had always fought with herself about what she should have done all those years ago, but she had always been too afraid to find my dad. "Nathaniel, if you had stayed that morning, I would have never run. I'm not blaming my actions on you or your lack on staying that morning, but I know that if I'd stayed, I would have known that you wanted me even when I'm hungover let alone sober." My mom answered still saddened. I felt Oliver's arms tighten around me slightly at the sadness that we could both see. "I ran because I was afraid you wouldn't want the responsible, shy, sober me and that you'd leave once you realized that I wasn't wild. I'm sorry that I've hurt you so much by leaving." She finished before kissing his cheek and looking into his eyes.

"How about we all go to bed? We can meet tomorrow morning for mom's amazing pancakes and bacon, and we can all get to know each other better." I suggested with a light smile. My parents smiled and nodded in acknowledgement of my idea. I smiled even more at them. "Besides, the two of you need the rest of tonight to work through our own things, alone." I spoke nodding blankly before looking back up at them with an innocent smile. We all just chuckled at my implication.

I hugged them both before Oliver and I moved to go back to the room we had been led to earlier. "Wait! Oliver, Lilith, I had my beta move your stuff into your room. I spent years shifting the room around as if you were actually occupying it. It was my way of imagining what you'd be like on the off chance that you'd actually existed." My dad sheepishly spoke. I was surprised but smiled at the thought of him trying to imagine me all these years. I walked back to him and gave him a tight hug that he happily returned. I grabbed Oliver's hand as my dad showed us the room he'd prepared for me all these years.

The room was beautiful. It contained a queen-sized bed in the middle of the wall between the closet and the ensuite bathroom, and a few feet away from the specially fortified bay window that looked out onto the beautiful garden. There was a flat-screen TV positioned on the top of the beautiful maple-wood dresser. The bed was covered in a beautiful dark teal comforter and matching sheets with light teal pillows sitting behind at the head of it. This room was exactly the room I had always dreamed of having.

I turned back to my parents and smiled with a nod to tell my dad that I loved it. My dad just smiled back at me before hugging me again with a kiss atop my head. I hugged my mom and kissed her cheek before returning to Oliver's side. We said our light 'good night's before Oliver closed the door and picked me up to carry me the short distance to the bed. He threw me lightly up into the air to land safely on the bed.

"Are your mom's pancakes and bacon really that good?" Oliver asked as he crawled into the bed with me. I chuckled lightly before I nodded my head in response. I felt Oliver slip his arms around me before slipping us under that covers. "Don't think you've gotten out of our earlier activities so soon. You and I are going to have our fun very soon, and hopefully I don't have to meet anymore of your family when we do." Oliver whispered in my ear. I laughed at his tone, but soon we both fell fast asleep.

I have been whipping through chapters, so I have decided just to give these to you all out!!! I hope you like them. I hope you laugh a little at how awkward this has to be for my characters. I really want to hear people's opinions on something:

Do you want a sequel that will follow the life of one of Oliver and Lilith's children?

I have been highly debating if I should create a sequel, so I have decided to ask all of you/any of you who choose to read this. The song is All I Need by Within Temptation.

Anyway, have an AMAZING day!!
