Her Beta Chapter 6: Story Time
Her Beta
Chapter 6:
I began to laugh lightly in his arms. I squeezed his biceps as a silent request for him to let me go. He obliged before I walked back to the bed and jumped up onto it. Oliver sat next to me silently waiting for me to answer him. I looked over to him and hoped that he wouldn't want to get rid of me after I tell him.
"Well for one thing, my mom left her mate, my biological father, before he could ever find her again. She was afraid that he didn't want her or wouldn't want me after she found out she was pregnant with me. She was scared that he wouldn't like the sober her, she was drunk when they met and conceived me. But my mom and I are also moving constantly, so we can't really stick to one pack." I told him as I scooched a little closer to him. He moved his arm around me as I looked up to him. His expression showed that he needed to know more. I took a deep breath. "About twelve almost thirteen years ago, when I was only five years old, I was playing with some kids from a pack." I began again as I felt the horrifying memory enter my mind.
"You're it!" I scream in excitement as I tag a little boy I just met a few hours ago. I like playing with other little kids like me. They understand how to have fun and not sit around and talk and be boring like grown-ups.
I ran away from him and ran toward a little girl by the name of Carleigh. She is laughing with me as we watch the little boy chase Carleigh's brother Jacob. When we notice the boy running toward us, we scream and run in separate directions.
I was so caught up laughing that I didn't notice the sounds coming from the woods. None of us children heard it until it was already upon us. We all turned toward the woods when we heard a low tuned laugh. We all stopped playing to see a man wearing ratty sweatpants and a dirty and ripped shirt. I was the farthest from him, but I knew that I did not feel any safer with that knowledge in mind.
"Well, aren't all of you children having fun playing so close to the woods?" He finally spoke in a gravelly voice. His eyes looked across all of us, but they lingered longer on me than anyone else. I felt an inescapable shiver of dread head down my spine. "You all should know better than to play so close to the woods. Something could come out of them and hurt the lot of you. You're families wouldn't really like that now would they?" He spoke again, his arms and ankles crossed as he continued to lean upon a tree.
"No, our families wouldn't like us getting hurt." A boy by the name of Jackson answered. He was the first to gain courage enough to speak to this stranger. "But Victoria only has a mommy that couldn't care less about anything, unlike the rest of us." He spoke again using my fake name. My mom didn't want to use my real name just in case we had to leave soon and we didn't want them to try to find us. Mommy always moved us because someone was usually mean to us. I would have glared at the back of his head if I wasn't so scared of this strange man.
"What are all your names?" He asked with a smile. But his smile didn't make me feel any better about him. Something still wasn't right about him, I just couldn't figure out what it was that made me feel that way about him.
"I'm Jackson Prescott, the beta's son. That's Jacob and Carleigh Nate, the third's children. That's Davien Lukes, Katrina Vaughn, and Victoria Decker." Jackson introduced pointing to each of us as he spoke. I really didn't like Jackson, he bragged that he was the beta's son too often. He made me feel like a freak when he talked about the fact that I was the only one who didn't actually have a father.
"You said that Victoria only has a mother. Why doesn't she have a father?" The stranger asked as he smiled at Jackson. I hated Jackson's constant answer to this question. He was very mean when it came to my family.
"Because her dad thought her and her mom were too ugly to stay with, he didn't want to be stuck with such ugly people. And her mom wasn't his mate, so he wanted nothing to do with either of them after he found his actual mate. Victoria was just a mistake that he couldn't fix." Jackson replied with a smile. He seemed happy that he could convince an adult of a lie that he created because he thought he should be in charge.
"You know, I don't believe that for one minute Jackson. Victoria is very beautiful little girl, and I'm sure her mother is just as beautiful. In fact, I'm sure that they would make a beautiful family for any man that knew how to go about getting them as his family." The stranger replied pushing himself off of the tree. I began to slowly back up despite the fact that he was nowhere near me. I didn't like the way he was talking, it didn't sound right to me.
I watched as the stranger walked a total of three steps before kneeling down to the ground. I listened as the ear-ringing pops and cracks rang through the air as the stranger transformed into a gray wolf that was half blinded. I screamed when I saw him prepare to lunge forward. My eyes were sealed shut as I fell back onto the ground, the stranger walking around me before running back toward the woods. His final words scaring me into opening my eyes.
"Don't worry little Victoria. I will be back for you and your mother in three days. And then the three of us will be a family. She'll be my wife and mate, and you'll be my precious little daughter. And your mother and I will even provide you with more siblings." He promised with a smile. I just stared at him in horror as continued to smile. "I will find the both of you and I'll be your father. It's important that a little girl have her father, and a woman to have someone to pleasure her. I'll see you soon my dear daughter. I just have to prepare everything for the both of you." He said before disappearing into the woods again.
It was at that moment that I looked elsewhere. It was then that I noticed that I was the only living child from our game of tag near the woods. I ran to Carleigh to see that she was literally ripped apart. I did the same thing before finally coming to Jackson. He was the only one not completely ripped apart.
"I'm sorry. I just wanted your attention. I'm sorry Victoria. I like you. Please tell my parents that I love them too." Jackson brokenly whispered to me before his head fell to the side, the life seeping out of his eyes. I screamed and cried. That was the moment that something inside of me changed and a whole new pain manifested within myself.
"The wolf inside of me ended up manifesting early and it literally caused me to shift into my wolf. I was five years old, and I had basically seen five little five or six year olds get ripped apart, it was too much for my mind. The only way to protect my mind and help me was for my wolf to awaken early and for me to shift. I ended up running home, scaring my mom, and crying my eyes out to her. We moved the next day. And we've been running from him ever since." I replied, tears freely running down my cheeks. I hadn't looked at Oliver throughout my whole story. The memory too painful to look at anything really.
"I was actually trying to find my biological father when we met. I didn't go the right way or something because he belongs to another pack, one that my mom ended up trespassing onto. My mom and I tend to lose our blocks on our mind links and that's how I figured out that my mom had lied to me for as long as I can remember. She always told me that she didn't have a mate yet when in reality my biological father is my mother's mate. I've wanted to meet him for years now. So when I found out about that important little detail, I decided to go searching for him. That's why I was outside when you and I met." I finished with a deep sigh.
Oliver slowly moved his hand toward me, giving me the time to move away from it if I chose to. I could feel the racing of my heart as it prepared to jump out of my chest at any second. I had never told anyone about that. It was the one thing that I never felt close enough to someone to actually tell them about. The sparks lit the side of my face where his hand slowly slid down, the shivers immediately running along my spine.
My eyes closed of their own accord as he moved my hair away from my skin. The bed groaned in protest from the shifting weight of Oliver as he leaned even closer to me. Shivers began to race along my spine at the feeling of Oliver being so close to me, his natural pine and woods scent dominating all other scents. His warm breath danced softly along the skin of my neck and face as he breathed me in.
I could feel the feather-light touch of his lips as they slid across my throat. I knew he wanted me to jump into his arms and be like most mates acted, but I also knew that he wouldn't push me to act in any way that wasn't me. But that didn't stop him from wanting to be more intimate with me, or me enjoying the attention that I was now receiving despite what he knows about me now. I didn't understand how he could want to be so close to me after finding out that some crazy guy wants to take both my mom and I as his family and he's already killed people to get the both of us.
"Don't worry, I'll protect you. This pack will protect you, you're their Beta Female and you could kick their--" Oliver promised as he carefully put his arms around my torso and held onto me.
"I get it!" I laughed cutting him off before he swore. He moved to look at me. I turned to look at him with an amused smile on my face. His face lit up with a smile as he looked at every inch of my face. I could feel my face begin to heat up as I moved my gaze to look at my hands with as small smile on my face. His fingers lightly guided my chin to face him.
"Your laugh and smile are perfect. It's worth it to make you laugh." He smiled. I could see that he wanted to kiss me, but he knew I was reluctant. He sighed before moving his head to rest his chin on my shoulder breathing warm air onto my neck and sending chills down my spine as my eyes fluttered slightly closed at the sensation.
My eyes opened when I felt his arms tighten slightly. I turned my head to look at him curiously. Despite the need of assurance his arms seemed to represent, his huge smile spoke of content and pure happiness. I couldn't understand what he was smiling so much about, my head began to tilt to the side as it seems to do whenever I'm curious or confused.
"No, no, no! None of that adorable head tilting of yours." Oliver commanded playfully. He quickly pulled me onto his lap, a slight shriek emitting from my throat, and moved his arms to my back and under my legs before standing with me in his arms. My arms immediately shot to hold around his neck. "How about we find you something to wear to bed?" He asked smiling down at me.
He walked over to his closet and carefully opened it without letting me down. He set me down once we were reached the back of his walk in closet. He swept his arms out to the contents of the closet. I noticed a whole side of his closet was empty. "I kept that side open for my mate, you, so you would feel welcomed right away. I didn't want any reason for you to not want to be here, and I really don't have that much stuff." Oliver explained rubbing the back of his neck. I could slightly see pink rising on his cheeks as he avoided my gaze.
"Thank you, but I really don't have a lot of things either. As I said before, my mom and I have been running for almost thirteen years. We need to carry as little as we can so we go faster." I stated. Oliver began to scowl at my statement. I swallowed and moved to his hanging clothes. I grabbed a gray t-shirt and a pair of black sweatpants before walking out of Oliver's closet, him following slowly behind me, and heading to his bathroom to change.
