Chapter 93: Money I (1)
Rehabilitating the Villainess
First of all, since it was a bla*ck market, there were a lot of things that seemed unsavory to me. However, it also had a lot of things that could help me fight against the Crown Prince and the Mage Tower Lord.
I took out a catalog with items that will be sold shortly after in the auction and looked at it.
As expected, there were many necessary items. A magic tool that erased mana and removed scent, and a medicine that promoted the absorption of medicine. There were a lot of things I had to buy, and many other things I wanted to give to Shael.
It was worthwhile to take the risk of separating from Shael. But it didnât meant that it would be easy.
âItâs too expensive.ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
I had prepared as much money as I could. But I didnât have enough money to buy everything I needed on the bla*ck market. It was mostly because I spent a lot of money on Shael.
If I had to think about it, the Baslett familyâs finances were in jeopardy these days because of the Crown Prince and the Mage Tower Lord.
Anyway, the situation wasnât looking that good. It was to the point where I wouldnât even be able to buy the things that were of utmost necessity.
Right at that moment, there was a place that caught my eye. It was a ga*mbling den right next to the bla*ck market.
âIt would be nice if I could earn a little bit of money.â
The timing was also right. Shael had allowed me to take off the Ring of Mutual Restriction at the banquet hall saying that she didnât want to spy on me, and then she foolishly forgot about it. So I now would be able to ga*mble against any opponent.
As soon as I finished my thoughts, I headed to the casi*no.
âI think Iâll just have to catch one money bag.â
Most of the people in the bla*ck market were wealthy merchants or aristocrats.
If I could find just one stubborn person who didnât like to lose among them, it would be possible for me to save enough money to buy everything I needed on the bla*ck market.
As I was carefully watching the people around me, I suddenly heard someone talking behind me.
âWould you like to play with me?â
It was a woman that gave me a familiar feeling. But I didnât give it a deeper thought.
I could feel a bit of mana from her clothes, so it was clear that she was a noble lady from a noble family. Therefore, the probability that she had no knowledge of ga*mbling was very high.
âLetâs do that.â
âYou better be prepared.â
After that, things moved quickly, and we chose to play po*ker.
However, midway through the game, the woman frowned at me.
âIs her hand bad?â
If that was the reason, her expression would be considered too revealing. Feeling suspicious about that, I bet fewer gold coins.
Obviously, I didnât think it would lead to an assured victory.
âYou win.â
But oddly enough, the victory was mine. Even after that, the woman continued to reveal everything through the various kinds of expression on her face, and everything kept happening according to those expressions.
If the woman frowned, I bet a large amount of gold coins. On the other hand, I bet less gold coins if the corner of the womanâs mouth went up.
And, before I knew it, I had won a small pile of gold coins. It seemed like I had caught a huge money bag.
âI won again!â
âDo you want to play more?â
âWe need to play more!â
âIs that so? But I donât want to play more.â
I wish I could have earned some more, but I still got up from my seat, leaving the woman alone. Excessive greed wasnât a good thing.
I still didnât have enough money, but it would be good to find someone else.
And then I saw it.
Someone else was also approaching out table. The man had drunk so much that the smell of alc*hol wafted all around him.
âItâs another big fish.â
âI canât ignore itâ¦â I thought, while looking at the woman and the drunkard. âMaybe I can earn more money.â

[Shaelâs POV]
Shael let out a sigh.
She wanted to warn Eran of the dangers of ga*mbling and punish him for going astray. And for that reason she approached Eran, who was looking for a ga*mbling partner. She had the confidence to overcome Eran perfectly.
However, Shael lost miserably. She thought he wouldnât be used to things like this, but Eran turned out to be a skilled player.
Actually, it wasnât like that at all, but at least in Shaelâs opinion, it was.
After that, Shael planned to follow Eran while vowing to punish Eran properly. She had to keep an eye on what Eran was up to. But someone interrupted Shael.
It was a man with a well built-up physique.
âWhat do we have here? It looks like you lost a lot of money little lady. Wouldnât it be a loss to stop ga*mbling there?â
Shael silently expressed her refusal, but the man didnât back down. He might have lost his mind from all the ga*mbling and alc*hol, and with his hand on his axe, the man was making a silent threat.
Considering that the place was the bla*ck market where everyone's identity was unknown, the man didnât think anyone would be able to stop him.
