The elephant was still at the campground and hadn’t left yet. She knew how urgent the situation was so she immediately got on Lu Ting’s back. She just hugged the man’s neck when he grabbed her feet and ran in the direction of the group.

Everyone all crouched high up and used the trees as cover. Seeing that the elephant was no longer attacking people, they observed the place where the two elephants were.

After they met up with the group, Lu Ting still didn’t dare to put Lin Yueqi down despite kneeling down. Once there was a change to the situation, he could immediately carry Lin Yueqi and run.

Everyone sighed in relief after finding out that they were safe and sound. Zhou Qing said, “Sister Qi, Brother Ting, you guys almost scared us to death. Leita almost shot…”

Leita was a frequent guest to the forest. He protected many elephant rescue organization’s volunteers into the forest. He had feelings towards the elephant. Unless it was needed, he wouldn’t hurt the elephants.

He placed his gun down, his hands trembling. He wiped the sweat off his forehead and asked, “How are you guys? Are you guys hurt?”

“No.” Lu Ting shook his head and continued to stare at the elephants.

Lin Yueqi laid on Lu Ting’s back and asked softly, “I remember reading on the information file that Mark is gentle. He wouldn’t attack people directly. What happened to him? What’s with that little elephant? If the female elephant we encountered was Mark’s wife, then looking at the size and age of this little elephant, he was just born. There was no way he was Mark’s child. The female elephant was pregnant for nearly two years. Her baby should at least be a year old. How could this be her child?”

“Woah, Mark has a wife and a mistress? No wonder he wasn’t by the mother’s side when she died. He’s a scumbag huh? Mark sure is cool. He reached the peak of his life.”

Zhou Qing just finished his words when he got smacked by Lin Yueqi. “Don’t act brain dead okay?”

Zhou Qing scratched the back of his head and said softly, “I’m just trying to ease the tension…”

Huang Hai also scolded, “Even if you’re trying to ease the tension, you shouldn’t give the elephant a green hat. An elephant has its own dignity too, okay?”

Leita furrowed his brows and explained, “This little elephant isn’t Mark’s child. He was born a year ago. His parents were two other elephants. A year ago, a volunteer captured the poachers ruthlessly killing the elephant’s parents with a camera. He watched his parents get killed in front of him and how their tusks were chopped off. However, there was nothing he could do. But because he was too young, he was saved from the slaughter.”

“Those poachers didn’t let him go because he was young.” Lin Yueqi’s eyes turned watery and she choked out the truth, “They just want to wait for the little elephant to grow up and grow its tusk. Then, plunder it. Those scumbags. They’re humans. Don’t they have hearts? Don’t they have feelings?”

“If they had hearts, those elephants wouldn’t be wandering around and lost their families.” Leita exclaimed and continued, “Mark and his wife adopted this little elephant. He barged into the campground and attacked us probably because it thought we robbed the little elephant, so it wanted to take revenge on us. The elephant has a pretty good memory and they have feelings just like humans. Mark had watched his parents and brothers get hunted when he was young. After he grew up, he watched as his wife and children were hunted too…After losing his family, his only adopted son had gotten separated from him too. Needless to say, he was clearly on the verge of falling apart.”

Lu Ting brought up a crucial point. He furrowed his brows and asked, “Maybe Mark had gone against the poachers before?”

“Could poachers be nearby?” Lin Yueqi asked.
