Chapter 11

Koenji's Confrontation

[Classroom Of The Elite] Ayanokoji X Horikita

Tuesday

I enter the classroom, and just like last week, everyone's gaze turns to me. Most likely because of the recent disaster, and the involvement of Suzune's brother.

“G-Good morning, Ayanokoji-kun...” the main figure of class D, Hirata greets.

“Good morning, Hirata. Is something the matter?”

“Well... we heard what happened, you see...”

Although I wasn't involved in the unfortunate event, nor was I heavily linked to anyone, it seems as though the class felt a sense of sorrow for me.

“Is Horikita-san alright?” Kushida asks.

“She's at home, recuperating. Though I’m her boyfriend, I can't miss any days of school because of her. Yesterday would be the last.”

“I see...”

I can see through her mask, and her widened smile. However I keep that to myself.

Instead, I look around the class, in pursuit of a certain person.

“I see Sudo isn't here, eh?”

“Oh, Sudo? He's been at home since Monday, because he apparently caught a cold.”

I look at Ike. “How has he behaved since the fire?”

“H-Huh? Well, now that I think about it, he's been saying lately than he has a lotta regrets...”

“Oh, I see.”

I guess even he felt guilty for his actions.

Once I sit down on my seat, with the class back to normal, I scan around the room again.

“So he’s here? How daring...”

He’s acting just like any other day, admiring himself whilst disregarding everyone around him. Though, I’m sure, in his mind is where I take up the most space.

Because Koenji knows who I truly am.

“A-Ayanokoji-kun.”

“Huh?” I look to my right. “Sakura? Is something the matter?”

Her eyes were red, with bags hanging from underneath them. What had happened to her?

“Are you alright, Sakura? Have you been sleeping properly?” I ask.

“Y-Yes! I am! T-Thank you for your concern!”

“Oh... if you say so, I guess.”

Silence interferes with our conversation.

10 seconds later, the silence is broken first from Sakura, as she holds out her arm toward me.

“H-Here! For Horikita-san! Please give it to her!”

It was a sealed envelope.

“Oh, for Suzune, eh?”

“Yeah... she's your girlfriend now, isn't she? I’m sure... she'll like these...”

Why does she look so melancholic? Maybe it's because of Suzune's state?

“I’ll make sure she receives it, thank you, Sakura.”

“I-It's nothing to thank for! T-Then, bye...” she turns back, “Good luck... with Horikita-san...”

“Yeah...”

I see her off, baffled as to why she acted as so. But also, curious to see what is in the envelope.

I guess I'll give to Suzune first before sating my curiosity.

Finally, Ms. Chabashira entered the class, holding a pile of sheets before placing it down on the podium.

“Urgh, today's going to be a long day...” she looks up to the class, “Oh, Ayanokoji is here today.”

I hold my hand up as a gesture of greeting.

“It's nice to see you back, indeed. Let me express my relief at the end of the day, so come and see me at my office.”

"Huh...?"

I have a feeling that she invited me for a totally different reason.

After school

I meet her at her office just as I was instructed to.

“That plaster on your face, mind telling me the context?”

The plaster I applied to my cheek was from yesterday, when I was grazed by a knife. However, knowing I had been in a fight would arise trouble.

“Is this your way of expressing relief? If so, I have doubts-"

“Are you going to feign ignorance?”

“Who said I could answer questions outside my school life?”

“The teacher should know everything, Ayanokoji.”

She slaps my chest with documents.

“Each and every student you have met so far has their details and history written on these documents. If you wish, you can track down the culprit-"

“I don't need help, after all, I've already tracked him down.”

“What?”

She looks at me, pleading for answers. I sigh.

I guess I should let the teacher know everything.

“Everything had happened since a certain occurrence.”

“Since you dated Horikita, right?”

“Correct.  Since then, I was sent threatening letters and was stalked. However, I was easy to deal with, so they left me free until Manabu was dealt with. Because he was a bigger threat to them.”

“Wait, so who is ‘they’?”

“I’ll get to that later.” I'd prefer if she'd let me finish. “Their objective is to separate me and Suzune. Knowing Manabu is related to Suzune and has a lot of influence, wiping him out was inevitable. With his brains, he could handle the situation flawlessly. That is why they sent letters that threatened him and thereafter erased him from the frame.”

“I see. So if you had told the student council president, he would've informed the school and measures would be taken, eh?”

“Precisely. Little did they know the bigger threat that was me. The mastermind merely knows of my character on the surface, thus, determining me to be weak. That's why their plans have not ended yet, because they failed to separate me and Suzune.”

“But why would they want to separate you two?”

“Because a certain man pleaded for their aid.”

I grab a single document from the pile and place it onto the desk.

“Sudo?”

“Yes, Sudo.”

“But just because of him, they went to such measures? Who would so such thing?”

She suddenly realizes.

“Do you see now?” I say, grabbing another document from the pile, “Koenji would not hesitate to seek entertainment. Whatever his will is, he will see through it till the end. And since his family has a lot of influence, they managed to sneak in so called ‘workers’ that assisted Koenji. A device, he had also snuck in, allows him to communicate to the outside. Once he's caught, he will be expelled.”

Ms. Chabashira looks at me sharply, “You're not planning to expel him, are you?”

“He has done nothing but trouble. The only logical thing to do is erase him.”

"That's true, but the class will suffer, is that okay?”

“That's a thing I can sacrifice if it means expelling him.”

30 minutes later

I finally leave the school, though quite late.

I plan to visit her again, after all, she must be lonely by herself.

Girls like her are too fragile despite their personality.

“Guess I'll buy something for her...”

But what would she want? She has never told me her preferences when it comes to gifts. Either way, Suzune doesn't seem as one who grows a liking to presents and gifts.

“But...”

I, as a boyfriend, need to step up and present her with a gift. No matter how displeasing the gift is.

“Maybe a scarf? Or maybe...- hoh?"

However, a man comes in my way.

His figure was muscular

His smile, scribbled on his face.

“Ayanokoji-boy! You have finally departed!”

“Koenji...”

No one is around. No one would see us if we go at it. But that depends on his mood.

“Do not fret, young boy! I would never fight any weak enemies! Oh, sorry, I forgot you wanted me to not underestimate you. I guess that is quite a shame, fufu.”

Now is a chance. To squeeze out further information.

“What benefits do you gain from setting the 3rd years dormitory on fire?”

“Oh, what benefits, you ask? Haha! Well! A certain young boy cried at my feet! He begged for assistance in getting his loved one back! Oh, how can I turn a blind eye to such struggle, Ayanokoji-boy?”

“I thought you would never meddle in into our class affairs, especially that of individuals.”

“But my will flies like a free bird! Whatever I desire, I shall get. Other than that, I will not act!”

“I see.” I lied, his motives are confusing, “So then? Why did you approach me as I left?”

“Oh, that? It is simply a greeting a new person!”

“We've talked before...”

“But you have never talked with our true personality,” he stares into my eyes, millimetres away from my face, “I would never have guessed there was someone competent with me, let alone worthy to speak to. However Ayanokoji-boy, you have indeed piqued my curiosity. Mr president-kun was easy to deal with, but you? Unfazed by my threats? Winning against 5 trained men? Even daring enough to send me threats?”

“Send you threats?”

Oh, I see.

“The letter Hirata-boy came to give yours truly.

‘I know your mastermind, so killing Horikita Manabu shall result in major consequences, Koenji. It's time to release the bird outside the window, even if he loses a feather or two.’

At first, I thought maybe you were under the authority of the President himself, however I thought wrong. After finding out who you truly are, I laughed hysterically! After all, you really are amusing!”

He laughs in front of my eyes.

“So this is how Mrs Pretty fell in love with you! Red-haired-kun really had no chance, Haha!”

“Are you really going to continue? With this nonsense?” I ask.

“Of course, because it is amusing, to say the least.”

It is infuriating enough to know Koenji is thinking he was on the same level, if not higher than me.

It seems like I should shut the cage of the bird, and for once, make him obedient to his owner.

“I look forward to see how you plan on stopping me, Ayanokoji-boy. Now, go home and see you beloved. I’m sure she'll appreciate it, Haha!”

He walks off, waving his hand as a sign of saying ‘good luck'.

One day, he and I will most likely fight. But the fight won't depend on who wins, it will depend on who suffers defeat.

This chapter was like a clean-up chapter. I just needed to get everything out of my way so I can begin the main part.

Anyway, if you are reading this, mind commenting below on what chapter was your favourite? Mine, personally, was last chapter, '1 vs 5' because I feel like it shows how dedicated and developed Kiyotaka has become. I look forward to see what's my peak chapter so far lol.

Next chapter, Sudo will come and hopefully some more Suzune x Kiyotaka moments will happen. I plan to take my time here on out and stay true to the title of this fanfic.

Thanks for reading!
