Knowing Kiyotaka
[Classroom Of The Elite] Ayanokoji X Horikita
I return to the dorms after a normal day of school.
Though, today was slightly different.
Slightly boring, would be more precise.
Maybe it was because of her absence?
I never realized having not talking to a certain person would cause me to become bored, but I guess it goes to show just how much she means to me.
"I'm here, Suzune," I say from the door.
"You can say 'I'm home' if you like, Kiyotaka."
"Huh?"
"Forget it, you're too dumb to understand."
I suppose I am.
I close the door and enter.
Suzune was reading a book whilst sitting on her bed.
"Are you sure you should be up right now?"
"Is it still snowing?"
"No, it stopped. Anyway, you should be asleep-"
"It stopped!? Does that mean...?"
I sigh, "I promise you we will have our date in the snow. For now, just sleep..."
"I just woke up actually."
"Why?" I sit on the chair beside her.
"Because I knew you would come around this time from school, so I thought I'll wake up to see you."
"How loving of you."
"Oh, and, I already ate."
"You made food yourself?"
"Actually, I missed on lunch so I decided to eat that a few minutes ago."
"I see."
"So? Was school alright?"
"It's the same. Nothing remarkable."
"So no special exams?"
"No, for now."
"I see. Was my name spoken?"
"Hirata and Kushida asked me of your health, and I said you died."
"Nice joke."
"I know, right? I actually said you were doing fine."
"Right... Kushida-san, huh?"
"Mm? What about her?"
"I don't know... it's just... I feel like she hates me."
That's impressive.
"I doubt that's the case. After all, this is Kushida we are talking about."
"What's this? Have you grown attached to her, Kiyotaka?"
She points her compass at me.
"I was never really attached to her, in the first place. I'm still not attached to her now."
"That's mean, Kiyotaka."
"What was I supposed to say?"
"That she is a great and caring friend, is what I expected."
"Well, I'm sorry for betraying your expectations..."
"Should I punish you, I wonder?"
"Please don't."
"I guess I'll spare you."
"Please do."
"Hey, Kiyotaka."
"Yes, Suzune?"
"What's your favourite colour?"
"What brought this on?"
"Just tell me."
"Well, black?"
"That isn't a colour, idiot..."
"That's right. Then, blue?"
"Are you asking me or telling me?"
"I haven't thought about it, to be honest."
"Then say that first, idiot."
"Right..."
"Wait, how have you not thought about it? Everyone should know their favourite colour."
"R-Really? Why do you ask, anyway?"
"Because I still don't know much about you."
"Oh?"
I guess she is right, we both love and understand each other, yet it is the facts about one another that we lack.
"Why don't you tell me anything about you, Kiyotaka? Are you keeping something a secret? Are you hiding something away from me?"
"No, that's not it."
"Then why?"
"Why? Well, there isn't much about me that is worth telling you about, if I were to answer why."
"That is true, you're a boring person."
"You could have denied that..."
"But you should at least have something to say about your family? Or your past schools? Or maybe you have a first love that you haven't told me about? Because you got dumped?"
"That is far from correct, I hope."
"Then tell me more about yourself."
"Like I said, I don't have much to tell you-"
"Then, I'll stab you."
"I'll tell you everything, Suzune. Whatever you desire, now, ask me a question and I shall tell you."
"Ask you a question, eh?" She strokes her chin, "Let me get this straight, y-y-you aren't a pervert, are you?"
That's the first thing she asks?
"By pervert do you mean-"
"You don't think about me in your sleep, or envision me n-n-na-nak-"
"I can assure you I do not think of you in a sexual way."
"R-Really?"
"You really doubted me? Though, if you asked me to, I guess I wouldn't mind undergoing sexual intercourse with you. But that is if you asked..."
"Eh..."
"..."

I guess she'll kill me.

1 hour later
I walk into the room... covered in snow.
"I'm cold..."
"Don't blame me."
"You made me roll around in snow for an hour... and had Karuizawa video tape it..."
"It's not my fault you brought up such topic."
"Well, I brought spare clothes, so can I at least take the shower-"
"No."
"Please?"
"No."
"I'll die-"
"No."
"I'll cover your floor with snow."
She widens her eyes.
"I guess that is true..."
"Does that mean-"
"No."
"Figures..."
I stand around, not knowing what to do. If I continue to move, I'll only get her room wet...
Suzune finally looks at me.
She clears her throat
"But... since you apologized, I'll let you borrow the shower."
"Really?"
"O-Only because I feel slightly sorry for you! It's not as if I forgive you for what you said!"
'Thank you, Suzune. I'll make sure I'll learn my lesson."
After this, I certainly will learn my lesson.

10 minutes later
We both sit where we sat. Next to and on the bed.
In silence.
The aura surrounding her was too dangerous to interact with its source.
But I decide to anyway...
"Suzune-"
"What?"
"That was quick."
"What do you want?"
"I'm making sure you're not-"
"I'm angry."
"Right..."
"You're an idiot."
"I am... I guess..."
"For real, a big idiot..."
"I know..."
"The biggest idiot you can find..."
"Ha..."
"But... I feel sorry for you now."
"Huh?"
She closes her book and grabs my hand.
"Suzune?"
"I'm sorry for making you roll on the snow for an hour... as much as you deserved it."
"R-Right."
"Do you think I'm strict? Do you hate me now?"
"Hate? I would never hate you, besides it was my fault."
"I'm glad..." she takes a breath, "Then, can we carry on what we started before?"
"You mean, getting to know me?"
"Yes."
"I guess we can..."
"You're not a pervert, right?"
"Correct."
"And you're not secretly thinking about me in a lewd way, right?"
"That is correct."
"And-"
"Suzune, I'm not a pervert..."
"R-Right... if you say so, then I'll believe you."
She straightens her back.
"N-Next question!"
"Go on."
"Kiyotaka, tell me about your family."
I guess this was bound to happen.
"My family, eh?"
"I mean- one day, I might meet them, you know? S-So I'd like to know more about them."
"I have a father, and that's about it."
"A-A father? No mother, or siblings?"
"No..."
Mother... huh?
"It must be rough, wouldn't it? Especially for your father..."
"Not really."
"How is your father? Is he strict? Is he harsh?"
"You really want to know him, eh?"
"Well, I had plans to meet your family after graduating..."
"My father is normal. He isn't the best, nor is he the worse." He is close to being the worse, however, "I don't particularly love him nor hate him. We just live our lives separately and in our own way."
"Eh? Wait, so you don't love your father?"
"I haven't talked to him enough to make me love him."
"That's weird..."
"I doubt you will need to meet him. After all, I doubt he will care."
"Huh? He won't care?"
"Just a hunch."
"But-"
"Can you move on?"
She stares silently...
"Suzune?"
"Ah, sorry. I'll move on..." she lightly slaps her cheek, "Then, Kiyotaka. Have you started thinking about... the future?
Hm?
Future?
Now that I think about it...
Yes...
I've always thought about it...
After all...
I won't have a future.
"I haven't thought about it yet..."
"You still haven't? I asked you this before yet you still haven't been thinking?"
"Our future depends on the results of this school. I'd rather not get my hopes too high."
"I'm not talking about your future career. I'm talking about what you want to do in general. Like, for example, open a bakery."
"Oh, that? Well..."
I had a particular thought in my mind. A mere curiosity I had within me.
"I guess I want to travel the world."
"Travel the world?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Why? I've always spent life indoors. Prohibited from from seeing beauty of the outside, restricted to white walls. That's why, I guess."
"That's nice..."
"Really?"
"It's a nice dream to have."
"And you?"
"Me?"
"What do you plan on doing?"
"What do I plan on doing?" She thinks about it for a few seconds, then smiles, "I guess I could visit the world with you. It's not like you can handle travelling alone, can you?"
"I don't really know..."
"You're thinking about how much of a nuisance I would be, aren't you?"
"As long as you don't bring a compass, I guess I wouldn't mind travelling with you."
"Huh? Do not mistaken, Kiyotaka. This compass is the reason I am still alive, and stabbing someone with it is like providing me oxygen."
"That's...-"
"Shall I test it on you?"
"Well-"
"You will see. The compass will exude oxygen upon the stab."
"No thanks..."
"Oh, so you want me to die?"
"That's not my intention."
"Then stay still."
"Suzune..."
She stares at my eyes...
I continue to wait...
Until...
"I'm joking, Kiyotaka! What's with that face!"
She laughs.
"Huh..."
I guess she does have a heart, huh?
I guess she is-

This chapter, when rereading it, seems short. But it's 1.6k words so I dont know how that happened.
As for next chapter, I will either do a snow date... or dive straight into a special exam.
I've been thinking about making some special exam chapters to spice things up. What do you think?
Hopefully it's well received lol.
Thanks for reading!
