Nathan's pov

"..Does that mean?"

"I'm saying the scent he will give off will attract unmated wolves. It's meant to cause submission but that's not the case here."

"Is this every case of pregnancy?"

"Only with royal wolves"

"...Alright.."

My head was pounding and my body hurt everywhere. I open my eyes to see Jake sitting at the foot of the bed I was on and a person who I'm assuming is a doctor.

So this is the hospital? What happened and why did I just here 'royal wolves'?

"Nate you're awake! Do you feel okay?"

"I.. I'm fine for now..."

I want to leave. I hate hospitals and I'm tired so if I just run home I can go to sleep. I tried to stand up but pain shot through my body and I fell back to the stiff bed.

"Ah- shit.."

"Don't try to stand up you'll pull off the blood pressure machine and your pain will get worse"

"I'm tired and I need to go home... Why am I here?"

I remember I passed out but why would I be here?

"Well your boyfriend told me what he thinks is happening"

I furrowed my eyebrows at the label in confusion hoping no heat would rise to my face.

"Turns out he was right and you are pregnant, but I told him during this process, other wolves that aren't mated to someone will smell you and find themselves in a heat like state."

Moon goddess... do we have a problem? Like do we have beef or something? Seriously.

This is so ridiculous. Not only am I pregnant, but I have to dodge almost every werewolf I come near AKA the majority of the school's population?

"Also, if you feel any energy loss, weakness, or burst of energy that is normal for pregnancy. Jake here is gonna protect you, of course by instinct but for another reason too."

I look at Jake and he gave the doctor some sort of look that I couldn't decipher. The doctor nodded his head and started walking behind the bed towards the door.

When the door closed Jake looked at me and sighed

"What's the problem now? Seems like I won't be getting a break anytime soon."

"There is no problem, I just... well there's something I want you to know"

"So let me know."

"... First I'm the next alpha in my family... Second I need you to move in with me..."

My eyes widen at the sentence and I stared into his eyes

"And you never thought to tell me that before now!"

"Because I knew you would get like this! Plus your pregnant now and I want you to be safe with me. You are gonna be the Luna of my pack"

His face softened with his voice and it gave me chills. He really wants me to move in with him? I'm gonna be the who of the what now?

What about my parents? What am I gonna say to them? Actually...

"By the way the doctor called your parents and they were surprisingly more than okay to let you live with me"

'Surprisingly' my ass they just don't care. I also kind of forgot about this whole mind link thing so of course he heard me. They wouldn't care about me they never have. I've always been the one bringing money to the house for food and stuff never them. So you know what...

"Fine. I'll stay with you for all of however many months."

He smiled at me and patted my lap

"Well we can go right now. The doctor said you can go once you wake up."

I can tell standing up is gonna hurt like a bitch. Jake grabbed my shoes and put them on the side of the bed. I sat up and a pain shot through my body and I winced at the sudden wave.

"You okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine"

I slipped on the shoes and stood up. The source of the pain was in my stomach and every time I made a sudden movement it would send pain through certain parts of my body.

"Hey Jake. You wanted to prove yourself right?"

His eyebrows furrowed

"Yeah... why?"

"Start with carrying me."

He laughed slightly and walked over to me. He scooped me and smiled arrogantly.

"I really appreciate you being my chauffeur."

"Yeah yeah."

He rolled his eyes and began going towards my house. I looked up at Jake while he was running and accidentally inspected the non healing scar that was between his neck and his shoulder.

We made it outside and he put me down but I didn't feel as much pain this time. I gathered the majority of my stuff in a small bag. It was just enough for at least a week but I could get more later.

"Awe, that was fun while it lasted"

"Yeah sure, for you"

"Well I obviously can't ran and I'm not walking, not to mention you and I don't have a car but... You can still run"

I smirked at him and he seemed to know exactly what I wanted from him. He sighed and squatted down.

"Thank you my wonderful chauffeur"

I got on his back ignoring the pain that came with it and he locked his arms around my legs

"Ready?"

I rested quite comfortably on his back and nodded.

He crouched down slightly and I grabbed on tighter. As soon as I looked down I saw his feet moving and we were going through the usual woods. My house isn't too far from Jake's so we reached it pretty quickly.

Once we got to my his yard he crouched down for me to get off. I walked towards the door and tried to open it but a rushing feeling stopped me. I could feel my eyes light up without my command and suddenly felt energy coursing through my veins.

I opened the door... Slammed the door open and ran up the stairs.

Jake ran after me and grabbed me by the back of my hoodie. I turn around and jump up and down like I was excited. In reality I was just utterly confused.

"Nate, calm down"

"I-I can't!"

I break out of his grip and crash through his bedroom door and surprisingly not breaking it.

Jake grabs me and throws me onto the bed. He then grabs my wrists and holds them to sides. I could feel myself oddly vibrating from the energy.

"Calm down a little bit... 'Kay?"

I blush at our position but I listened, feeling some of the retreat inside me. Shit, I wanted to calm down too.

He got off of me and I speedily stood up and concluded the best way to contain myself was physical movement. So I started doing jumping jacks..

I could tell by the look on Jake's face that he was trying not to laugh. He better not.

After a few minutes and around a thousand jumping jacks later, my energy faded but I felt normal. No pain this time.

I exhaled in relief and sat on Jake's bed. I had lots of questions that I needed answered now.

"So I know you and the doctor talked about this stuff while I was sleeping and so I have questions."

He turned his body towards me and folded his arms

"Jumping right into this after all that?"

I glared at him

"I'm joking jeez.. Go ahead."

"First... How long is the energy stuff and pain going to last?"

"The doctor said about two months but after that you should feel normal"

"Okay... How long until I give birth?"

"Um... 5-6 months usually"

"What's this about you being the next alpha"

His look went from soft to blank

"Well... If you haven't noticed, I live alone and that's because my parents thought it would be better for me to be independent as the next alpha. So they bought this house for me since I was at least 12. My parents, or well my dad just got in touch with me saying that I might inherit the alpha spot sooner than I thought."

"What do I have to do with this?"

"Since you're pregnant, unmated wolves smell your scent mixed with alpha and want to submit but something is.. off about that part. I want you to be safe with me just in case anyone tries anything. Also, when I get to be an alpha, you'll get to be my Luna"

I get to be a Luna? Still hasn't sunken in yet...

"I can protect-..."

"Can you? In this state, I don't think so."

"What If I don't want to be a Luna?"

"That'd be fine because I'm not looking forward to be an alpha either."

"...Okay."

"Do you get it?"

"I guess..."

It became silent and I sighed.

"Can this be anymore awkward?"

"It could be, or..."

He reached for a remote that was behind him and turn it towards an empty wall. I was confused for a second then a large T.V. came out of it. I was kind of shocked but I expected this kind of stuff so it didn't surprise me too much.

"We can watch something?"

I snatched the remote out of his hand and clicked a Netflix button at the bottom of it.

"Guess you know what your doing then"

"There's a button on the remote, of course I know what I'm doing."

We sat and watched the show for a while and surprisingly Jake never complained. I at least expected him to constantly talk but I guess not. When the show went off, he stretched his arms out while yawning obnoxiously.

"Well I'm tired"

"Okay."

"...You're not gonna sleep with me?"

"Sleep by yourself. I don't want a repeat of what happened just yesterday."

"That won't happen, I mean, It's already done."

I rolled my eyes and yawned

"I was joking."

"Just shut up and go to sleep."

"Goodnight, Nathan."

I pushed the power button to the T.V. and it sucked back into to the wall

I laid down in the same position as last night but luckily this time, I was in my right mind. Jake had seemed to fall asleep already. I could hear him let out soft breaths. That and the comfort of the bed was slowly rocking me to sleep.

Right as I was on the brink of sleep, I felt Jake shift around and then suddenly his hand was on my side. It wasn't completely draped over but it was still there.

I was gonna move it but then I started to think.. why am I so miserable?

I wasn't letting myself live. I mean sure I wasn't always in control of my actions or events but that doesn't mean I have to make an already shitty life, shittier. I just have to make the best out of my situations. Focus on what can be good...

Fine. I'll allow it.
