Chapter 14: Bewildered

It was Friday and Isabella was working in her office, it was already 9:00 a.m and there was this meeting with a dealer Mr. Knight at 10:00 a.m but there was no sign of Seth in the whole building. Isabella sighed and decided to call him because the meeting seemed to be very important. She tried two times but he didn't answered so she decided to leave him a message.

Mr. Anderson, I just wanted to check where you are and if you could come to the office or not because there is this important meeting with Mr. Knight- I

She clicked the send button and waited for the reply but it never came so she just continued her work. It was soon 9:45 and there was no sign of Seth in the office. Isabella decided to call Mr. Knight and cancel the meeting for today. She dialed his number which already existed in her contacts before she got the phone "Hello" The man spoke from the other side "Hello, Mr. Knight. This is Isabella Smith, Mr. Anderson's PA" Isabella said "Oh yes! Ms. Isabella, what can I do for you?" Richard Knight asked "Mr. Knight, I just wanted to inform you that the meeting couldn't be done today because Mr. Anderson has not came to the office yet due to some personal matters" Isabella partly lied because she didn't exactly know that was he really out because of some personal matter or just hanging out with Elaina or any other of his mistresses. "Oh okay, Miss Isabella, thank you for informing me though" Mr. Knight said and Isabella heard footsteps and she looked up to find Seth going inside his office with a blank look on his face. She then remembered that Richard Knight was still on the line "My pleasure, sir. Goodbye" Isabella said "Goodbye" Richard said and hung up the phone. Isabella quickly got up and went inside the office. She opened the door without knocking and found Seth standing and facing the huge glass window where whole busy New York city could be seen. He looked powerful enough to intimidate anyone but Isabella noticed one thing, his shoulders were slumped and his perfect hair were all over the place.

"Mr. Anderson?" Isabella called out softly

"Yes" His voice was firm

"I have canceled the meeting with Mr. Knight as you were not there in the office" Isabella said and Seth nodded. This was the cue for Isabella to leave his office but she being a curious person asked "Are you okay?"

"I am" He said coldly

"Are you sure?" Isabella asked

"I am, Isabella" Seth shouted and turned around. Isabella could see dried tears on his cheek and her heart clenched because she felt bad of whatever happened to him. A single tear slipped down his cheek and Isabella stepped towards him. She hesitantly placed her thumb on his cheek and wiped his tear.

"You're not okay, Seth" Isabella said, she couldn't even see someone crying.

"I am, Bella" Seth said and Isabella loved how softly he said that

"Don't lie" Isabella said. This felt like a heart to heart talk but she didn't care, she wanted to make sure that he was okay because her heart said to her

"I'm not lying" Seth said and another tear escape down his eyes. Isabella didn't even think and hugged him because something told her that he badly needed it. Seth himself wrapped his arms around her body, needing her close. Isabella pulled back after a moment because she couldn't control the tingles and sparks he was giving to her body.

"Call me if you need anything" Isabella said while smiling and left his office. While sitting on the chair in her own office, Isabella couldn't help but think about the scene which just happened. He looked so vulnerable and weak. He liked his arrogant and cocky self better apart from that he always kept snapping her. She was bewildered of the situation and was curious to know what could have happened to him that made him cry because she always saw him as a strong and arrogant man. She was cut off from her thoughts by the inter com.

Bring me a cup of coffee, Miss Smith

Isabella quickly stood up from her seat and called the elevator. She left the building without even glancing towards anyone and entered the coffee shop. She ordered for his usual coffee, paid for it and left the shop. On reaching the top floor,she knocked on his office door to which Seth replied with a firm 'come in'.

Isabella placed the cup of coffee on his desk and when she looked up, she found him staring intently at her with his arms over his head.

"Uhm you coffee" Isabella said to clear the awkwardness. Seth stood up from his chair and walked towards her and stopped right in front of her.

"Thanks" He said and Isabella's eyes widened because he was actually thanking her for god knows what

"For what?" Isabella asked, clearly confused

"Uhm, because you comforted me when I was feeling down" Seth said

"No problem" Isabella said smiling and Seth smiled too, a genuine smile which Isabella liked way too much on his lips. "I should go and continue my work" She continued

As today was also the charity event and it was sponsored by Seth's company so every worker of the company was invited including Isabella of course as she was Seth's PA but the main problem was that she didn't had any dress in her closet which she could wear to the event so she decided to text Ellie if she had a good dress which Isabella could borrow for a night. After texting Ellie, Isabella completed typing Seth's speech and knocked on his office door to give him the speech.

"Mr. Anderson, your speech for tonight's event" Isabella said once entering his office and placed the speech on his desk

"Alright. Ms. Smith I want you to accompany me to the laundry shop to assist me to pick a suit for tonight" Seth said and Isabella nodded

They reached the laundry in about 15 minutes "Mr. Anderson, welcome" The manager said and Seth nodded curtly "Which suit would you like to take with you today?" The manager asked " My assistant will decide" Seth said and the manager nodded while placing all of his suits on the table

"Uhm, this one" Isabella said after about a moment, it was indeed a very difficult tasks as all the suits were almost same in shape and color

"Very good choice, Miss Smith. I personally like this one too" Seth said and Isabella blushed

After collecting the dress, they got out of the laundry shop. "Miss Smith, do you have a dress for tonight's event?" Seth asked

"Umm, no but I'm gonna borrow one from Ellie" Isabella said looking down

"No need to borrow, we're gonna buy you a dress" Seth said and Isabella's eyes widened

"No, sir. It's not necessary I can borrow it from Ellie for one night" Isabella said

"My decision is final" Seth said, leaving no space for argument and Isabella quietly followed behind him to a dress shop which was across the laundry shop

After much arguments they both settled on a beautiful black dress which had two cuts on its either side above waist and had a one leg slit. Isabella tried the dress and it fitted perfect on her body but she didn't went out of the trial room and showed it to Seth because she felt self conscious.

After choosing the dress, Isabella took the money out of her purse and started to give it to the cashier but a hand stopped her own hand causing tingles to spread in her body.

"What?" Isabella asked her boss

"Let me pay it" Seth said

"It's my dress so I should pay the money for it, you are not my father okay? Stop being stubborn for once" Isabella whispered-yelled

"It's not me who is being stubborn, you are the one and I've already paid for the dress now come on, I don't have much time" Seth said and walked out of the shop like a boss leaving Isabella behind.

After leaving the shop and collecting the dress, Seth dropped Isabella back to her apartment after her much protests that she could go b herself but Seth being the stubborn man he was, ignored her. The charity event was going to be started at 8:00 pm and it was only 4:00 pm when Isabella reached home meant that she had enough time to get ready. But when she opened her apartment door, she found Ellie already sitting on the couch with a makeup bag and some dresses beside her along with some Megan's pop tarts in her hands.

"Woah! Hey there Ellie" Isabella said taking off her blazer.

"Hi, Bells. Sorry I didn't inform you I was going to come and I brought dresses and makeup. We both are gonna get ready here" Ellie said

"No need to say sorry and I just bought dress while collecting Mr. Anderson's suit from the laundry and okay" Isabella said

"That's great! show me your dress" Ellie said and Isabella showed it to her receiving 'It's so beautiful' from Ellie

"Now now get you arse up from the couch and go shower" Ellie said after a while

"Not now, Ell. I'm tired!" Isabella said while laying on the couch

"Nope, I'm not gonna listen to anything. Get up!" Ellie said while trying to push Isabella from the couch

"Nooooo" Isabella screamed

"I ain't gonna listen to anything you say, get up!" Ellie said

"Give me five minutes more, I need my beauty sleep" Isabella said and closed her eyes

"Beauty sleep for what? Don't give me that bull Bella, get up" Ellie said as she managed to push Isabella off the couch. Isabella sighed and went into her bathroom to shower. After a long hot shower, she came out of the bathroom after wrapping a towel around herself. She got dressed into her shorts and tank top and dried her hair and called Ellie from the living room so she could start doing her wonders.

As the dress was black so Ellie decided to go with a soft smokey eye and a nude lipstick. After doing Isabella's makeup, Ellie started doing her hair while Isabella just sat tolerating her hair being pulled out and playing angry bird on her phone. Ellie pulled up Isabella's hair in a bus with few strands of hair falling out from it. It was already 6:00 pm when Ellie finished Isabella's makeup so she decided to groom herself quickly too. She was dressed in a purple long dress with silver sequins on it.

Isabella dressed up in her dress and decided to go with her golden studs and a golden bracelet. She took her black clutch, phone, slipped on her black heels and and walked downstairs.

"You look beautiful, Izzy" Megan said while wearing her hoodie as she was also about to leave for her friend's house

"Thanks, Meg. You're gonna stay over at Aria's ?" Isabella asked while sitting on the couch "Yep" Megan replied

After Ellie came down, they decided to leave the house. They first dropped Megan at her friends house and then left for the hall where the charity event was being held. They reached there shortly and got out of the car. On reaching inside, they saw that the hall was decorated modernly, the decoration and everything looked simple yet classy. They both saw John and walked towards him.

"Hey John" Isabella greeted

"Hey- woah ladies, you both look hot" John said while sipping on his drink.

"Thanks" Isabella smiled. Shortly, Carson joined them too and Isabella saw Ellie blushing furiously and wasn't able to meet his eyes, she took a mental notice to ask her about that later.

"Carson, do you know where is Mr. Anderson?" Isabella asked

"He's there with Dad" Carson said, pointing towards them and Isabella thanked while walking towards them and she was really uncomfortable because she was going to meet his father for the first time.

"Mr. Anderson" Isabella said from behind him

"Miss Smith" Seth greeted curtly

"I see you are looking very gorgeous in this dress tonight, indeed my choice is the best" He remarked cockily causing Isabella to blush and roll her eyes too

"Thank you" Isabella said

"Dad, she is my PA Isabella Smith and Miss Smith, he is my father" Seth said and Isabella greeted him politely

"I see you've got a beautiful PA son" His dad said smiling causing Isabella to blush

"Dad" Seth said

"Mr. Anderson, It's your turn to speech" Isabella said "Okay, I'm coming" Seth said "It was nice seeing you Mr. Anderson" Isabella said to his father "It was nice meeting you too, Miss Smith and you can call me Santiago" He said and Isabella nodded while leaving them both

Seth did his speech after awhile, it was a long 5 minute speech. After the speech, dinner was served and Isabella spent her time fooling around and talking with John and Ellie. From the corner of her eyes she could see Elaina all over Seth. She was wearing a beautiful black dress which had spaghetti straps and the slit on one side of her leg was so long that it showed her inner thighs. She was looking beautiful but as always, personality matters more. Isabella could fell her heart clenched at the sight but she chose to ignore it and don't ruin her night.

The event was over at 11:30 and the hall was emptying. Isabella bid a quick good bye to John and her boss and went her home with Ellie. On reaching home, she decided to watch a movie as she couldn't sleep. She settled on 'Magic Mike' as who doesn't love Channing Tatum.
