Chapter 124
A Farewell After Being Reborn
Tiana burst out into laughter when she learned that Sage hadnât gone through with the divorce. âSee? I
told you so! Ian wouldnât let you go that easily.â
Sage roiled her eyes. âBelieve it or not, it has nothing to do with Ian. He kept his word and signed the
divorce papers. But then, things took a surprising turn.â
Sage then filled Tiana in on how her aunt stumbled upon the divorce papers.
âIsnât that too much of a coincidence? Why were your uncle and aunt there when you went to pick up
the divorce agreement?â Tiana asked.
âMy uncle needed Ianâs help to seal a deal.â
Even though her story sounded plausible, Tiana couldnât shake the feeling that Ian was somehow
involved. âRegardless, the fact that you didnât get divorced only proves my point!â
âWow. With such a wild imagination, perhaps you should quit being a nurse and become a writer
instead.â
âHmm⦠thatâs a great idea! I could write a novel titled âMy Clueless Best Friend Who Canât Seem to
Get a Divorceâ. Isnât that a great idea?â
Sage was rendered speechless. â. On second thought, nursing suits you.â
The car arrived in the city while she and Tiana were still chatting. As the sun set, Sage remembered
that she had promised Michael to go to the gym that day. Hence, she asked the driver to take her there.
The gym manager spotted her and immediately apologized to her. Behind him was the coach. from last
time.
Sage, however, had long forgotten about the incident. âItâs alright. As long as you guys donât give
Michael a hard time in the future, weâre good.â
âMichael might not be able to work partâtime at our gym anymore,â said the manager. âMrs. Holcomb,
would you like to switch to a different coach or get a refund?â
âWhat? Why not?â Sage asked, puzzled. After all, he hadnât said anything about it when they had
dinner together yesterday. Surely Ian wouldnât hold a grudge against Michael for something so trivial?
The manager explained, âHe told me he was going to participate in an audition.â
Sage was aware that Michael was going to try out for an upcoming talent show, so it made sense to
her.
âMs. Joyner!â Michael called out from ahead when he spotted her.
Sage walked up to him. âI just heard from the manager that youâre going to participate in a talent show.
Good luck! Yâall are going to knock it out of the park!â
âHaha. No one knows what the future will hold.â He scratched his head sheepishly. âA friend of Kaiâs
introduced us. He contacted us this morning, so we decided to sign up at the last minute. I feel bad,
especially since youâve booked so many sessions with meâ¦
âItâs alright. I can always switch to a different coach,â Sage assured him. âAs punishment, youâll have to
teach me today.â
âDeal!â Michael grinned, flashing his pearly whites. He then earnestly taught Sage self- defense for
several hours.
Sage was dead tired after the session. She reached for her phone as she sipped some water. Whyâd
you send me a video?â
âIâm afraid youâll forget, so you have to practice using my video every day.â
Looking into Michaelâs bright, sparkling eyes, Sage suddenly remembered Tianaâs words from
yesterday, as well as the way he gazed at her in the picture.
âMichael, do you have a crush on me?â Her phone rang as soon as the words left her mouth.
Surprisingly, it was Ian calling.
