Chapter 159
A Farewell After Being Reborn
âMiss, your phoneâs ringing!â someone told Sage as she was goofing off with Kai.
She checked her phone. It was a call from Wanda. âWanda, whatâs up?â Sage asked after accepting
the call.
Wanda, perhaps a little taken aback at the noise in the background, paused before cautiously asking,
âMrs. Holcomb, where are you? Itâs a little noisy on your end.â
Sage wandered over to a quiet corner and answered, âIâm with some friends at a bar. Why did you
call?â
After some hesitation, Wanda wondered aloud, âMrs. Holcomb, itâs nearly 11:00 p.m. now. When are
you going to come home?â
Before Wanda went to sleep, sheâd occasionally check what time Sage was coming home. Sage
replied, âI donât know. Wanda, just go to sleep. Donât worry about me.
âUm, one more thing, Mrs. Holcomb,â Wanda added. âMr. Holcomb couldnât find his usual pajamas.â
âWell, he can always wear other pajamas. Does he want to make me go home just to search for his
pajamas?â
âBut he isnât used to the other sets. You woke up later than him this morning. Did you happen to put his
usual pajamas away in another drawer?â
âI never touch his stuff. I didnât even know if he slept last night. How on earth. would I know where his
pajamas are? Wanda, you shouldnât spoil him. Just let him be.â
âBut-â
âNo buts. Wanda, my friends are calling for me. Iâll hang up now.â
Just as Sage was about to hang up, she heard Ianâs frosty voice ringing out. âSage Joyner, wonât you
look at the time? How much longer will you hang out at that bar?â
It turned out that Ian was with Wanda. Had he requested Wanda to call her? How novel. In the past,
she was the one who asked Ian what time heâd come home. Now, the tables had turned.
âIâm asking you a question,â he snapped.
She emulated his icy tone from the past and replied, âI donât know. Stop
bothering me over nothing.â
Then, she hung up without giving him a chance to respond. She cheered up at the thought of him
fuming at the phone. She finally had the chance to give him a taste of his own medicine!
âMiss, is it time for you to go home?â Michael approached her. âIâll call you a cab.
She scoffed. âNo! Who said Iâm going home? Letâs continue playing games and drinking!â
Michael obediently played games with Sage, but he refused to let her drink anymore. Every time she
lost a round, heâd volunteer to take the punishment drink for her.
One of his bandmates finally blurted out, âMichael, sheâs never declined drinks. Youâre quite the
responsible knight in shining armor, arenât you?â
Although Michael blushed from their teasing, he answered earnestly, âI was the one who invited her. Of
course, I have to make sure sheâs sober.â
âArenât you worried that youâve had too much to drink? Youâre a lightweight, you
know.â
âIâll be fine after a good nightâs sleep. I donât want her to overdrink because itâll hurt her health.â a
Sage felt touched by his concern. She declared generously, âMichael Olsen, Iâm your loyal fan from
now on. Iâll buy anything you endorse as a real fan doesâI promise!â
âMiss, are you drunk? He has no endorsements for now!â someone joked.
She replied confidently, âHeâll get endorsements pretty soon!â
The bandmates laughed at me
his fan at its finest!â
Feeling dizzy, she raised her glass and grinned at Michael. âCome on. Letâs drink to our âmutual loveâ,
shall we?â
The bandmates laughed at them. âWow, this is mutual love between an idol and his fan at its finest!â
Feeling dizzy, she raised her glass and grinned at Michael. âCome on. Letâs drink to our âmutual loveâ,
shall we?â
