Chapter 178
A Farewell After Being Reborn
âSage, your Uncle Owen said he was able to seal the deal this time because Ian helped him. out. It
looks like Ian really cares about you,â Donald said with a smile.
âGrandpa, I know you want to ease the tension between Ian and me, but itâs really not necessary,â
Sage said solemnly. âYou were right about what you said last time. Iâm very stubborn about the people
and things I care about, and I donât give up easily. But once Iâve made up my mind, I rarely change it.
âIndeed, I canât just flip a switch and erase all my feelings for Ian overnight, but Iâve
thought things through. I used to be so selfish. I wanted to hold on to the things I wanted. But Iâve
realized that Iâll only hurt myself by holding onto them too tightly. So, Iâll set both
Ian and myself free.â
His granddaughterâs somber expression tugged at his heartstrings. âIt looks like my Sage is all grown
up now.â
Growing up was a good thing. It meant that she was more mature and levelâheaded in dealing with
problems. But as her grandfather who doted on her, he secretly wished for her to never grow up and
always be carefree like a child.
âGrandpa, Ian and I will get divorced after Grandmaâs birthday,â Sage told him, seizing the
moment.
Donald was aware that there was nothing he could do to dissuade her. âI wonât stop you as
long as youâve thought it through, Sage.â 1
Sage felt a huge weight lift off her shoulders. âThanks, Grandpa.â
Sage received a call from Linda after having dinner at her grandfatherâs place. âSage, didnât I ask Ian to
tell you we were having dinner together? Why didnât you show up?â Linda asked
reproachfully.
All of a sudden, it hit her. This mustâve been what Ian intended to tell her when he called her and got
into her car this morning!
Sage felt a little guilty. âI was at Grandpaâs place, so I couldnât make it.â
âItâs alright. By the way, Leo will be back in a few days. Do come over with Ian then, and we can all
have a getâtogether.â
Linda jested, âDidnât you tell me several times before that you wanted to meet your inâlaws and were
confident youâd win them over? Sabrina canât make it back this time, but you can meet Leo first!â
Sage was surprised. In her previous life, Ianâs parents, Leo Holcomb and Sabrina Padilla, couldnât
return home for Lindaâs birthday due to some issues. So why did Leo return in this lifetime?
Linda assumed Sage was worried since she had fallen silent for a while, so she hurriedly reassured
her. âDonât worry, I call the shots in this household. If Leo dares to give you a hard time, Iâll straighten
him out for you!â
Sage felt a gentle warmth spread through her chest. Linda was genuinely good to her. She would
always stand up for her, no matter what. Even if Linda was only doing so because she was her
granddaughterâinâlaw, she was moved.
âIâm not worried about that, Grandma.â
Sage was worried about her divorce from Ian. She had seen Leo a couple of times on video calls.
Although they hadnât talked much, she could tell he was a formidable man.
According to Linda, Leo had been incredibly strict with Ian since he was a child. He was also known for
being decisive and uncompromising when he was in charge of Holcomb Corporation. How would a
man like that react when he found out his son and daughterâin- law were getting a divorce?
