Chapter 203
A Farewell After Being Reborn
âDonât worry,â Giselle said, a pained expression on her delicate 1. âI wouldnât dare to mess
with her with you here.â
âThatâs what I thought.â Shane scoffed. Then, his expression changed drastically as he turned to Sage.
âDonât worry. Iâll wait over there. Just call me if you need anything.â
Sage rolled her eyes at him and ignored him. The man walked away, glancing back every few
steps.
Giselle took a deep breath and said, âSo weâve met again, Ms. Joyner.â Her eyes shone with
determination as if she had come to terms with something.
Sage couldnât bear to see the young ladyâs crestfallen face. Hence, she cut to the chase. âShane was
just spouting nonsense, Ms. Rosethorn. Please donât take it to heart. Also, I lied to you. He
has no feelings for me at all.
âHe threatened me into coming here today. Feel free to court him if you like him. I will never be an
obstacle in your relationship, so please donât see me as your rival.â
Giselle seemed unfazed when she heard that. She replied, âMs. Joyner, Iâve looked into your situation. I
know youâre married, and youâre not into Shane. However, I also know that Shane ruined your
marriage.â
That was a complete misunderstanding of her situation. Sage sighed, feeling drained. âMs. Rosethorn,
whether my husband and I get divorced or not has nothing to do with Shane.â
âIâm aware that thereâs a deepâseated conflict between Shane and your husband. Those two have
always been at odds,â Giselle continued. âHence, he wouldnât get too close to you. You should be
grateful that he didnât take his anger out on you.â
Even though it wasnât the right time, Sage couldnât help but ask, âDo you know what their conflict is
about?â
In her previous life, Shane and Ian were rivals in the business world. In this life, both of them still didnât
see eye to eye.
Giselle hadnât expected the conversation to take such a sharp turn. âThatâs not the point here, Ms.
Joyner,â she reminded.
Yet, that was what Sage wanted to know. âMs. Rosethorn, have you ever considered the possibility that
Shane might be using me as a shield to reject your marriage proposal?â she asked since she couldnât
get any useful information from Giselle.
âBut thereâs plenty of other women he could use! Why would he have to use you?â Giselle persisted.
âThere are plenty of women around him. Yet, Iâve never felt threatened because I
know he doesnât care about them. But I can tell at a glance that youâre different to Shane, Ms.
Joyner.â
Sage shook her head as she thought, âLove really does make people blind.â
She didnât want to waste her breath on Giselle anymore. âSo, what is it that youâd like to talk to me
about, Ms. Rosethorn?â
There was a tinge of sadness in Giselleâs eyes as she responded, âI was hoping you could do me a
favor, Ms. Joyner.â
Sage hurriedly said, âDonât worry. I wonât contact Shane privately or agree to his âpursuit.â
âThatâs not itâ¦â Giselle took a deep breath and continued, âCould you teach me how to win him over?â
Sage was at a loss for words. How did she end up in such a preposterous situation? How was she
supposed to know how to win Shane over? She had no experience in that department.
âRing, ring! Cutie, your phone is ringing!â Just then, her phone rang.
Sage breathed a sigh of relief when she noticed Ianâs number. âHoney!â she deliberately called out as
she answered the phone.
