Chapter 205
A Farewell After Being Reborn
Then, she spotted lanâs car approaching. Sage ran over to it, ignoring Shane, who was âin pain â, and
Giselle, who was in tears. She swung open the car door and slipped inside without
hesitation.
Ian was glancing at the entrance with a hardened expression. Sage figured he mustâve seen Shane
standing in her way. However, she didnât feel the need to explain herself to him.
After all, he was much closer to Ivy and never explained himself to her. So why should she bother?
âLetâs go,â she said to the driver.
The driver turned to look at Ian and waited for his instructions. Ian shifted his attention to the driver and
nodded at him. He then asked, âWhy did you meet up with Shane again?â
âDonât even start,â she scoffed. âWhy canât I meet with him? It isnât my problem that Shane donât get
along.â
you
and
Ian was taken aback. âSage, canât you tone down your attitude and have a normal conversation with
me?â
âOh, sorry honey, but Iâm very petty. I canât have a civilized conversation with you.â
Sure enough, she wasnât coquettish like she was on the phone when she was in the car with him. Ian
decided not to dwell on this subject anymore. Instead, he said, âSo what just happened? Did Shane
give you a hard time?â
Regardless, Ian did save the day, so she didnât snap at him. âIt was just a minor issue. No big deal.â
Shane had called her over to be his human shield. However, he still had something she needed, so she
couldnât afford to turn against him.
âBy the way, whyâd you call?â she asked.
Ian could tell Sage wasnât telling the truth. He was also aware that, even if he pressed her, she wouldnât
tell him if she didnât want to. He suppressed his discomfort and asked, âHowâs your shoulder? I hope
you didnât strain it just now.â
âI didnât,â Sage responded. She didnât even drive to the restaurant. Moreover, she greatly valued her
life, so she wouldnât disobey the doctorâs advice. âIs that it?â she asked, confused.
âIâm sure my grandmother has told you that my father will be returning to Haldon soon,â he said.
Sage nodded. âYeah, she did. Why? Is he arriving today?â

âHeâll arrive in a couple of days,â Ian responded. âHeâs not used to living in Holcomb Manor, and
Holcomb Estate has been inhabited for ages. Thereâs just a housekeeper there, so we might need to
go over and sort things out.â
Realization dawned on Sage. âIâll pass,â she responded. âIâve never met Mr. Holcomb Senior, and I
donât know his preferences. I wouldnât be much help. Besides, my shoulderâs killing me. I donât feel like
running around.â
âSo your
shoulder doesnât hurt when you meet up with Shane, but it hurts when you go to Holcomb Estate?â
âOf course, it hurts! Thatâs why I need to go home and get some rest.â
Ianâs expression darkened. He then questioned, âWhat did you just call my father?â
âMr. Holcomb Senior! Isnât he the chairman of Holcomb Corp?â Sage realized what she had just said.
âDonât worry. Iâll still call him âDadâ until we get divorced.â
âDivorce,
, divorce. Thatâs all she ever talks about,â he brooded.
âMy grandmotherâs birthday is just around the corner, Sage. Could you please refrain from mentioning
that word? Itâs upsetting.â
Sage realized it wasnât a good time for rumors of their divorce to spread. Linda had also said that Leo
wouldnât be home for long.
