Chapter 208
A Farewell After Being Reborn
Sage
assumed Wanda had encountered some difficulties, so she comforted her, âDo tell me if thereâs
something I could help you with.â
The middleâaged woman immediately shook her head. âOh, no. Itâs nothing.â
âAlright, then.â Sage then took a sip of the soup Wanda had prepared.
âMrs. Holcomb, did you get into an argument with Mr. Holcomb?â Wanda asked.
Sage took another sip of the soup and responded, âItâs nothing seriousâjust a little disagreement.â
the
All she had done was let off some steam. Ian, on the other hand, had barely reacted.
âMrs. Holcomb, I believe Mr. Holcomb is worried about you. He specifically asked me to make this soup
for you. He said youâd drink it when you returned,â Wanda continued.
instant.
Sage lost her appetite in an She wondered what Ian was playing at. After all, she had just called him
out. So why was he going through all this trouble?
Sage returned to her room after dinner. After she did so, she received a message from Shane.
âMs. Joyner, you were way out of line today. Donât forget that you still owe me a meatâ
Sage was baffled.
âHavenât you had enough, Mr. Morrison? This isnât the first time youâve used me as your human shield. I
canât believe you still have the nerve to mention that I owe you a meal.â
Shane wasted no time and called her.
Seeing his name on her phoneâs screen, Sage scoffed and accepted the call. âWhat do you want? Are
you trying to start something?â Sage snapped.
âTsk, whatâs gotten your panties in a bunch? You almost made my ears bleed,â he grumbled. Is this how
you speak to Ian in private as well? Is that why heâs dumping you?â
She couldnât be bothered to correct him anymore. âWhat do you want, Mr. Morrison? Please donât tell
me youâre just here to stick your nose into my relationship. Youâre making me wonder if you have a
crush on him.â
âEww!â Shane was visibly disgusted. âIâm not as blind as you!â
The pair exchanged a few more barbs before Shane got down to business.
âDidnât you mention that you wanted to market CureXâs medication? I had someone draft a proposal, so
please take a look at it. Letâs nail down the specifics by next week.â
âSure, just send it over.â
Sage was about to boot up her laptop when she noticed Ian standing by the door. She had no. idea
when he had arrived. His face was as stoic as ever, and his dark eyes were unreadable.
Sageâs brows were knitted as she asked, âWhat is it?â
Ian pursed his lips and walked toward the stairs without saying a word.
âWeirdo,â she thought to herself.
Sage shut the door, booted up her laptop, and started going through the proposal. She felt sore and
stiff when she was done. Hence, she shut her laptop and decided to go downstairs to ask Wanda to
help her apply the ointment. However, when she opened the door, she found Ian about to do the same.
It was strange because she had made herself crystal clear. Knowing Ian, he shouldnât have come to
her room again.
âAre you here to retrieve something?â she asked.
Ian didnât respond. Instead, he reached out and took the ointment in her hand when he
noticed it.
Sage frowned. âWhat are you doing?â
âWandaâs asleep, and sheâs not strong enough. If you want to get better sooner, lie dowri.â walked into
her room and said coldly, âLike you said, Iâm just upset that youâre not paying attention to me anymore.
Iâm not interested in you whatsoever.â
Sage was at a loss for words. He might not have been interested in her emotionally, but the
way
he kissed her in the kitchen last time didnât seem like he wasnât interested in her body.
He seemed distant, and his eyes were as icy as ever. He looked like he was just here to complete a
task out of obligation.
Unable to help herself, she blurted out, âDo you men think itâs perfectly normal to have sex without
strings attached?â
