Chapter 211
A Farewell After Being Reborn
Ian had told her that his company would be having a teamâbuilding event in Greenfield on Saturday.
Sage didnât think it was a coincidence that Tiana and her colleagues had decided to come here.
Sage dragged Tiana aside and asked, âCome on! Fess up. Did you plan this ahead of time with
Ian?â
Tiana looked at her, puzzled. âWhat are you on about?â
âDonât play dumb with me.â Sage glared at Tiana. âWhen did he get to you?â
After all, she had just met Tiana at the hospital the day before yesterday, and she hadnât mentioned
anything about the teamâbuilding event.
Yet, all of a sudden, Tiana had decided to come here, and she didnât even tell her where they were
going. She probably didnât want to arouse her suspicion.
Tiana smiled sheepishly when she noticed that Sage had figured it all out. âHe didnât actually get to me.
My colleagues and I genuinely planned to go on a road trip. Ian just mentioned that his companyâs
teamâbuilding event would be held here. He invited us to join them, so I didnât stand on ceremony with
him.â
Sage rolled her eyes at Tiana. âI didnât take you as the kind whoâd betray your best friend for a good
dealâ.â
Tiana responded, âThis isnât just any deal! Greenfield isnât cheap, you know? Itâs a 5âstar- rated natural
hot spring thatâs rich in minerals and can be used for recuperation and rehabilitation. Itâs practically
made for you! Honest to God, Iâm just looking out for you.â
âSure, I believe you,â Sage drawled.
âOf course! As you should.â Tiana then pushed Sage into the resort. âBesides, Ian isnât some ferocious
beast. He used to be your beloved husband!
Sage felt like punching someone in the face. âTiana⦠Iâve already told you thatâs all in the Whatâs the
meaning of all this?
past.
âIâm sure you donât have to cut off all contact with him even if youâre getting a divorce, right? âTiana held
onto her hand. âBesides, you guys are, technically, still married. Youâll still have to see him at home
even if you donât see him here.â
Even though that was true, Sageâcouldnât shake the feeling that something was wrong.
âI guess itâs my fault. I let Calvin talk me into agreeing to this,â Tiana added.
lage
Sage was surprised to learn that Calvin was in on this too. âHowâd Calvin manage to talk you into this?â
she asked.
Tiana explained that Calvin had brought up the incident at the bar the other night. He mentioned how
Ian had gone out of his way to help them and had injured his waist in the process. Even though Ian
didnât deserve any credit for his actions, he should at least be given credit for his efforts.
Tiana continued, âHe also said that Ian felt bad about leaving you behind at Holcomb Corporationâs
party last time, so he wanted to take you out and cheer you up.â
Sage smiled wryly as she was reminded of how lan had made it a point to explain himself to her
regarding the incident at the party last time. She figured that it was probably Calvinâs doing as well.
Calvin sure had Ianâs back. When lan hated her, he stood up for him and gave her the boot. When Ian
was reluctant to let her go, he came up with ideas to help him win her back.
âForget about Ian. Since weâre already here, we might as well enjoy ourselves!â
That made sense. Sage pinched Tiana and warned her, âDonât you dare let this happen again, or Iâll
give you a piece of my mind.â
Tiana raised her hand and promised, âDonât worry, I wonât let lan get to me again. Unless he invites me
and Wilson on a world tour that is!
Sage was rendered speechless. The girls had been conversing for so long that Tianaâs colleagues had
already gone to the lobby to checkâin.
âI didnât know we were staying here for the night.â Sage looked at the room card in Tianaâs hand. âI
didnât bring anything since you didnât tell me ahead of time. I donât think Iâll be able to stay over.â
âNo worries. A certain someone took care of it for you,â Tiana quipped.
Then, she handed Sage a room card. âThis is your room. Your belongings are already inside.â
everything,â Sage brooded.
âWhat wouldâve happened if I hadnât agreed to come?â she asked.
Tiana responded, âThen, weâd just have to send your belongings back. Easy peasy.â
Sage was at a loss for words.
The rooms here were all unique. It was mostly styled after the ancient Aztec civilization. Even the
corridor floors were made of wooden strips. Sageâs room wasnât on the same floor as Tianaâs.
Sage found herself in a spacious room with a large bed when she opened the door. There were roses
thoughtfully placed on the neatly made bed, and quite a few rose petals were scattered around. The
various matching decorative items made the room look oddly romantic.
Her travelâsize suitcase was beside the cabinet. Sage opened it and found her swimsuit, pajamas,
other clothes, skincare, and makeup products. This was undoubtedly Wandaâs handiwork. Sage
realized that everyone, except herself, knew about her plans for the day.
Sage changed into her swimsuit and looked at herself in the mirror. She felt a little self- conscious as it
was showing too much cleavage.
She had bought this swimsuit intending to wear it to the hot springs with Ian. After lan outright rejected
her, she hid it away and never wore it again. She had no idea that she would look so⦠seductive and
sexy.
Just then, there was a knock on the door. Sage assumed it was Tiana, so she opened the door and
asked, âTiana, do you think this swimsuit-â She stopped herself short because she noticed that the
person standing before her wasnât Tiana, but the tall and handsome Ian!
He was dressed casually that day, sporting a white polo shirt and black trousers. It made him look less
serious than usual and more relaxed and laid back.
Shouldnât he be soaking in the hot springs or enjoying the finer things in life with his employees at this
hour? Why was he here?
Ianâs dark eyes were also locked onto Sage. The snugness of her swimsuit hugged her curves and
made her waist look incredibly slender. The black fabric accentuated her fair and slender limbs. Sage
was like a human siren, captivating and soulâstirring.
Involuntarily, his Adamâs apple bobbed, and he felt parched.
âWhat are you looking at?â Sage snapped, realizing that she was practically halfânaked in front of Ian.
She covered her chest and tried to close the door, but he beat her to it. He stepped into the room and
closed the door behind him.
âWhat do you think youâre doing?â Sage demanded, backing away warily.
Ianâs gaze was still glued to her waist. His voice was hoarse as he asked, âAre you planning to
