Chapter 230
A Farewell After Being Reborn
Sage had browsed the aisles to avoid running into Ian. âIâm sure youâve also found out that I havenât
bought any amoxicillin.â
âThat corner is a blind spot for the surveillance cameras,â Ian said.
Sage
couldnât help but sneer at him. âAre you suggesting that I stole the medication from the drugstore and
then swapped it out with Ms. Shekdotterâs in the car?â Ian remained silent.
Sage snorted. âI had no idea which medications she needed. How could I have prepared the warfarin
ahead of time?â
âWhy wouldnât you have been able to prepare it? The wound on Ivyâs forehead was inflamed. Anyone
wouldâve guessed that sheâd need antiâinflammatory medications!â Ronald snarled.
Sage frowned and shot Ian a cold look. âDo you think so too?â
Before Ian could say anything, Ronald snapped, âHow could you be so cruel? What has Ivy ever done
to you that youâd attempt to harm her over and over again?â
The middleâaged man raised his hand and was about to slap Sageâs face when Ian stopped him.
âCalm down, Uncle Ron.â
âCalm down? How could I possibly remain calm? Ivyâs my one and only daughter, Sheâs gentle, and
she never gets into any trouble. Why does your wife hate her so much that sheâd do this to her? 1
âMy poor Ivy didnât want to bother you even though she was feeling unwell. She had to call an
ambulance and go to the hospital on her own! It wasnât until the pain became unbearable that she
called me to come to the hospitalâ¦â Ronaldâs voice broke as tears streamed down his face. âIf
something happens to Ivy, how will I face my late wifeâ¦â
âDad, please, stop,â Ivy choked out. âIâm alright now, arenât I?â
âThatâs because you got lucky! The doctor said you wouldâve died if you hadnât been rushed to the
hospital in time.â Ronald was beside himself with fear. He then lunged at Sage and demanded, âIf
youâve got a problem, take it out on me. Donât hurt my daughter!ââ.
âStop it, Dad!â Ivy abruptly sat up, but she was too weak to walk. Plus, she had an IV drip in her hand.
She almost hit her head on the corner of the bed when she felt a jab in her hand.
Ian hastily reached out and steadied Ivy to prevent her from injuring herself again. Sage, on the other
hand, instinctively kicked Ronald away when he suddenly rushed up to her.
âOuch!â The middleâaged man was caught off guard. He stumbled backward and fell flat on his back.
âDad!â
âUncle Ron!â
Ivy and Ian exclaimed at the same time. Ivy tried to get off the hospital bed when Ian walked over to
Ronald. But she accidentally rolled off and landed on the floor.
âSit still!â Ian had no choice but to turn back and help Ivy up.
âDonât worry about me. Please go and check on my father.â Holding onto the bed, she tried to push him
away, but she was too weak and fell forward. The hospital bed, which she was using for leverage, slid
forward due to inertia and went straight for Sage.
Sage instinctively dodged the hospital bed and accidentally bumped into the trash can next to the
elevator. Losing her balance, she fell onto the round trash can. When she put hér hands back to steady
herself, she felt a sharp pain. The glass shards in the trash can dug into her flesh.
Ivy screamed before Ian could check on Sage. As the hospital bed slid away, it pulled out the needle in
her hand and caused her to bleed. Ivy, who was already extremely weak, almost passed out from the
ordeal.
