Spencer

It was thanksgiving and coach was about to have a table full of people. There was Olivia, Jordan, Coach, Laura, my mother, Dillon, Coop, Patience, Chris, Y/N, Storm, Ms. Y/M/N and I.

I was in the kitchen looking at all the food that was ready. "Spence get out the kitchen" I heard my mother say as I chuckled walking out. I went back into the living room beginning to play on the Xbox with Dillon jordan, Coop and Chris.

"Hey Chris" I heard Olivia say as she walked into the living room and sat down next to him. They then kissed as Jordan made a face. "You wish that was you huh?" Coop joked "She's on her way actually" I said between me and coop as she chuckled and then the doorbell rung and I rubbed my hands together getting up.

I went to the door and opened it seeing Layla as my smile just dropped. "Hey, Why the long face?" She asked "what you doing here?" I asked confused "liv invited me over since my dad is out of town and she didn't want me to be alone" she explained as I just stepped to the side and she walked in. "Hey can we talk after dinner?" She asked "yeah" I answered walking back towards the living room.

"Hey" Layla greeted as Patience and Coop looked at me crazy. I hurried and sat with Coop. "What is she doing here?!" Coop asked in a whisper as Patience looked over at us. "She said Olivia invited her" I whispered back as the doorbell rung again. "Shit" I said to myself. "You want me to get it?" Coop asked "uh yeah" I said "Olivia" I said through my teeth in a whisper as she looked away from Chris and her smile dropped.

"What?" She asked as I nodded my head towards the kitchen and we got up. We stood in the kitchen "why?" I asked referring to Layla. "Spencer what did you want me to do she had nobody" Olivia expressed. "But you knew Y/N was coming over" I said. "She had nobody on thanksgiving why are you acting like that from what I heard you and Y/N was just friends and you and Layla were supposed to be working things out" she explained.

"Layla told you that?" She asked "that and I don't see you making any real moves on Y/N" she brought up as I just sighed hearing heels on the floor. "Hey can you open the fridge for me?" I heard Y/N ask as Olivia opened the fridge for her and I looked over Y/N's body.

"You look cute" Olivia complimented her as She fixed one of Y/N's curls. "Thanks" Y/N thanked her.

"Hey" I said as Y/N finally looked at me then smiled "hey" she said as I smiled. "Does auntie Laura need help with anything?" Y/N asked as Layla then walked into the kitchen "hey you got a bottle of water or something?" Layla asked as Y/N looked over at Layla confused.

My mother, Y/N's mother along with Laura walked into the kitchen laughing about something as it quickly stopped when they Seen Y/N and Layla. "Well shit" I heard my mother whisper. "Hi auntie, hi Ms. Grace" she said before her and my mother hugged each other. "You look nice" my mother complimented as I gave Layla a water bottle.

"What Is she doing here?" Layla whispered referring to Y/N. "She's supposed to be here" Patience said "coach is her uncle, this is her family,Layla you know that" I whispered back. "No drama tonight my mother is here" I warned "okay geez" she expressed placing her hands up some. I watched Y/N help my mother, her mother, Laura and Patience take the food to the dining room table where we were all eating at.

While Jordan, Chris and I were doing the glasses "you two are just friends right?" Jordan asked referring to Y/N and I as I nodded. "Then you have nothing to Worry about" Jordan assured beginning to bring the glasses to the table as Chris just looked at me and chuckled. "Nah man you got a lot to worry about" he said before patting my back and walking off into the dining room with more glasses.

My mother then came into the kitchen "boy what the hell you doing?" She whispered. "Olivia invited Layla" I answered looking over at her.

"You better clean this up before It gets worse because Y/N looks A bit pissed off" my mother noticed as I just nodded and she walked off. "Y/N" I said as she was about to make her way towards me but Layla interrupted. "Babe we need a couple of more glasses with ice" Layla said to me as I just seen Y/N snatch the bowl of rolls off the counter before walking off. "You heard me Spence?" Layla questioned. "Yeah" I answered before quickly making the glasses and going into the dining room, seeing Coach bring a bottle of champagne placing it on the table.

"Everyone's ready for prayer?" He asked as we all sat down and I tried sitting next to Y/N but it got screwed up quickly and I ended up sitting next to Layla and across from Y/N. Y/N just placed one hand in Patience hand along with another in Storms as we started prayer. Layla grabbed my hand and bowed her head. I bowed my head but peeked at Y/N as she just had her head bowed and eyes closed.

They finished prayer as I looked at her and she just rolled her eyes grabbing the collard greens making her plate. "Can you pass me the collard greens please?" I asked as she handed it to me and I took it from her. I eventually made my whole plate.

The table was talking about different things and for the most part it was cool. "So Y/N congratulations on the dance team girl!" My mother said as Y/N faintly smiled. "Thank you" Y/N thanked as Layla smiled. "Her dance was a little provocative but it was cute" Layla said then added a smile as Jordan just took his fork out of his mouth and looked at me.

"It's majorette dancing" Y/N simply responded before eating some Mac and cheese. "I thought it was a little provocative, It's just my opinion" Layla simply responded back eating some collard greens. "Momma you want anything to drink?" Y/N asked looking over at her mother. "You can just get me a water please?" Her mother asked "no sit down sweetie, that's fine I can have Jordan get it" Laura interrupted.

"No it's fine I got it" Y/N assured getting up from her seat walking out. I just looked over at Layla as the adults were all talking. "What? I was just saying" she whispered as Y/N came back with two water bottles, handing one to her mother and keeping one for herself. She sat back down continuing to eat.

"So Y/N are you going away for college?" Layla asked "I don't know yet" Y/N simply answered. "Well we're almost finished with first semester of junior year , you don't know yet?" Layla questioned as Y/N just looked at Layla while drinking her water. "Layla" Patience simply said before drinking her drink.

"I plan on going to UCLA or Howard" I admitted. "Oh an HBCU that's what's up" Coach said. "UCLA?" Layla questioned "their gpa requirements is pretty high" Layla said. "So is Howard's and I'm eligible to get into both" Y/N shot back.

"Well It's in the admissions teams hands at the end of the day" Layla simply said eating some turkey. "No it's in God's hands" Y/N assured as Chris and I just looked at each other. "That's right baby" Laura said as there was clearly tension at the table and the adults clearly didn't understand what was going on outside of my mother. "But UCLA" Layla started off then looked at me and smiled. "That's where Spence wants to go and play" Layla brought up as I nodded.

Layla then looked back at me "remember when we went on the field and I gave you those UCLA football game tickets for your birthday?" Layla asked me. "Storm you look beautiful girl" Olivia intervened as now our attention was on Storm. "Those boys better stay back" Coach warned. "Right" Jordan agreed.

"Babe can you pass me the rolls?" Layla asked as I just looked at Y/N on her phone under the table before passing the rolls to Layla. We all finished dinner as Y/N excused herself from the table. Everyone continued with their conversations as Layla looked over at me "you want to go talk now?" She asked as I just nodded my head out the dining room.

"Excuse us" I simply said getting up as Coop and Patience looked at us. I went upstairs in the hallway as I just looked at her. "What?" I asked "why you acting like I did something?!" She questioned "now I'm your babe? Because we in front of

Y/N?!" I questioned. "It's a habit I was just saying it" she said then sighed. "Spencer I'm sorry about everything that has happened" she apologized as I just sighed. "You're good I'm sorry if I sound harsh" I apologized. "It's fine I understand you're frustrated" She said then grabbed my hand. "But I still love you and I thought you should at least know that" she said as she looked in my eyes and begun to kiss my lips.
