Y/N

It was the night of the Cotillion as I was making my way to the venue with my mother and Storm. We soon made it as I got out of the car fixing my dress. "It's not too much?" I asked as she handed me my long glittery gloves to match.

"You look beautiful baby" my mother assured once again as she fixed my hair

and we walked inside. As soon as I went inside I was directed by the director upstairs where all the girls and their dance partners were. I looked around as someone just placed there hands over my eyes some.

"Guess who?" I heard as they tried to deepen their voice. "Kia" I simply said as I giggled. "You're literally no fun" she said taking her hands from my eyes as I smiled and turned. She placed her hand over her mouth. "Just like princess" she said as I laughed. "You think? It's not too much right?" I asked looking down at it. "Girl your mother is a designer everyone knew you was gonna step" she joked as we shared a small laugh.

"You look beautiful Kia" I complimented making her smile. "Thank you" She thanked as she looked behind me "your Prince Charming is making his way girl" she teased as I let out a small laugh. "We're kind of not a thing anymore." I admitted "wait" she started off as I nodded. "It's a story, that must be talked about later because we have other things to worry about. Like us not falling in these heels" I explained as Jordan came up beside Kia and Spencer appeared next to me.

"Okay well , we're going to get ready" Kia started off looking between Spencer and I "uh we'll talk later" she assured dragging Jordan. "You look pretty" Jordan complimented while being dragged away as I just laughed to myself. I finally turned towards Spencer as he did the same. He just smiled as I smiled and looked down. "You look beautiful" he complimented making me smile and look back up at him. "Thanks you don't look bad yourself" I teased as he chuckled.

Darnell then walked up to us "what's up?" He said dapping Spencer up. "Yo where's Y/N?" He asked Spencer trying to be funny. "Facts because where she at?" I asked looking around as they chuckled and he hugged me. "You look beautiful" Darnell complimented. "Aww thank you D" I said as we pulled away. "Aye you just doing the dance and that's it" Spencer interrupted as Darnell chuckled. "Wait wasn't one of our rules not to get in the way of the other one when they're trying to talk or date someone else?" I asked stopping Spencer.

"It's all fair game" Darnell said shrugging his shoulder some as Darnell and I let out a small laugh. Olivia started making her way towards us as my smile then faded. "You ready?" She asked Spencer. "You look beautiful Olivia" I complimented as she just looked at the floor then looked passed me. "You do too" she simply said which she didn't mean it.

"Spence you ready?" She asked grabbing his hand. "Uh actually I wanted to dance with you" Darnell started off as Spencer and I looked at him confused. We then looked at each other. "Yeah I know the routine like the back of my hand, you have nothing to worry about" Darnell explained swiftly locking arms with Olivia and walking away with her.

"Is This your doing?" I asked "no I don't know what the hell is going on" he admitted as we looked at Darnell and Olivia. Olivia just looked over at Spencer and I with sadness in her eyes as I looked down then back at Spencer "go dance with her Spence, she was looking forward to you two dancing" I said.

"Ehh" he started off as I just gave him a look. "Okay" he said as I just giggled he then fixed my hair some then winked at me before walking off.

Darnell made his way towards me as I smiled "you thought you were slick" I said as he placed his hand up and I placed mine on top off his "I'm just trying to help a brotha out" he said making me smile as we started walking in formation. They announced my name as Darnell and I walked down the stairs together and stood on the floor a couple of feet away from each other waiting for the rest of duos to her onto the floor.

Once they were on the floor music begun to play as everyone started dancing with their partner. Somewhere during the dance everyone swapped partners as i twirled and ended up with Spencer as we shared a small laugh continuing to dance with each other.

I then ended back with Darnell and we all soon ended the dance routine. All the guests around us begun to clap as I just hugged Darnell and he hugged me back "thank you" I thanked. "Any time" he assured as he had his arm draped over my shoulder and I had an arm around him. "I got to eat I'm starving" I started off "swear and I don't want no damn cucumber sandwich" he expressed as I laughed. "That's that inner palm people shit" he said making me laugh even more.

Spencer and Jordan came up to us as Jordan dapped me up

"I'm glad you didn't fall because had you fell not gonna lie I probably would've laughed. "Shut up" I said as he chuckled "And I don't like this at all" Jordan added referring to Darnell having his arm draped on my shoulders. "We don't even get down like that" Darnell assured. "Say it again because that big ass vein popping out of the side of Spence's head" Coop teased as we all shared a laugh. "Can you guys give us a minute?" I asked as they all left Spencer and I to be with each other.

"Boy them waves spinning" I hyped as he just laughed making me smile. "Thanks for dancing with her. I think she enjoyed it" I said looking over at Olivia as she was talking to Layla excitedly. "Did you enjoy it?" He asked me as I looked over at him and smiled. "I don't know your brother can dance better than you too" I teased as he laughed.

"You want to go dance?" Spencer asked as I just smiled and shook my head. "Go be with Liv" I said as he faintly smiled and looked down. I just placed a kiss on his cheek as I pulled away and he smiled. "Isn't that one of the rules?" He asked as I smiled "what you're doing is sweet so it doesn't count." I said as we shared a smile and I walked away going to the table with my mother , Storm and serenity.

"You did good baby" my mother complimented as I just faintly smiled. About an hour passed as everyone was dancing on the dance floor . I just stayed in my seat looking at different colleges and minding my business. "What you doing over here alone?" I heard Patience ask as I looked up. "Just chilling trying not to be in anyone's way" I said as she looked back at Spencer and Olivia.

"He keeps looking over here at you, you know?" Patience asked as I faintly smiled. "Yeah I know" I said then looked at her. "Girl" she simply said as I just chuckled "what?" I asked. "You know what" she said making me playfully roll my eyes. "I am okay" I assured "I am reading" I added as she playfully rolled her eyes. "Well I'm going to go dance since your buddy coop is mad at me" she said as I giggled some. "What now?" I asked.

"I didn't tell her that one of the girls here was my ex" she said as I just let out a small laugh. "Girl go kiss on her. dance and Be happy you two are together and can be with each other" I said as Patience smiled at me and walked away. "Talking to the moon" by Bruno Mars begun to play as I looked at my table realizing my mother and Storm was up around socializing and I was at the table by myself. I noticed everyone started pairing up and dancing with each other as I just smiled.

I then recorded and zoomed in on Serenity and Jordan slow dancing with each other. He tried to sing to her making her laugh as I just smiled. I just placed my phone down and smiled watching everyone dance. "Y/N" I heard as I turned and seen Darnell. "What's up?" I asked as he held his hand out and nodded his head towards the dance floor. I just smiled and grabbed his hand going to dance with him.

We found a spot on the floor as I wrapped my arms around his neck. We begun to sway side to side with each other as I smiled. "Thanks Darnell" I thanked him. "It's all good you were literally the only girl our age sitting down while everyone was on the floor" he brought up "I wasn't about to let you look lonely" he said as we shared a small laugh.

"Why'd you switch with Spencer before the routine?" I asked "I was trying to make sure you two got a dance together." He started off "he told me you two never got to dance In front of people like we are now it was always private or when you two did, it was cut very short" he explained as I faintly smiled and looked down. "Yeah either Layla interrupts, or Liv feels a way about it" I said with a small shrug. "It's alright though" I assured with a fake smile.

"But it isn't. you two clearly have feelings that you two can't get rid of that easily hell, The way Spencer be talking, my boy might be in love" Darnell explained as I let out a small laugh "oh please" I sarcastically said as he chuckled "I'm serious" he assured as I just smiled and shook my head. "Spencer doesn't love me" I said looking down. "At least get you a dance with him before the night ends" he said as I faintly smiled. "Honestly I might dip after this dance" I honestly said as there was a small silence between us.

"Well let's make it count" he said as we shared a smile and he brought me in closer. I just laid my head on his chest and closed my eyes listening to the music.

I then opened my eyes as Seeing Spencer look at me as Olivia laid on his chest.

"Trying to get to you"

We just stared at each other as I just faintly smiled feeling a tear roll down my cheek.

"In hopes you're on the other side talking to me too

Or am I a fool who sits alone talking to the moon?"

I noticed Spencer eyes got a little glossy and tears started to fall more from mine. I just sat off of Darnells chest and took my gloves off beginning to wipe under my eyes lightly. "Im sorry" I apologized then let out a small laugh. "You alright?" He asked as I just nodded and sniffled "yeah I'm going to go to the bathroom real quick" I informed as we pulled fully away and I hurried towards the bathroom.

Spencer

I watched Y/N dance with Darnell as I felt down because that's who I wanted to be dancing with right now. She finally looked over at me as we just stared at each other. She gave off a small smile and I noticed she started to cry. I felt my eyes water some as she soon pulled away from Darnell some and wiped her tears away. They started talking to each other as they pulled fully away from each other before she walked off wiping her tears away.

"You know I'm sorry for everything that ever happened between us" I heard Olivia apologize. "It's fine" I assured not trying to really talk. The song soon ended as Olivia and I parted ways. "Hey Spencer" I heard Layla say as I just looked over at her and looked around for Y/N. "Hey" I simply said. "She seems to be getting along great with Darnell" Layla brought up as I looked in Darnells direction seeing Y/N and him smile at each other and talk.

"Can you please stop?" I questioned looking over at her. "What?" She asked "you know what. Between you and Olivia she can't do anything. You were mad because we were friends now you're starting something because she's talking to Darnell" I explained. "Just stop" I expressed before walking away to go sit down. "Bro you need to go dance with your girl" Darnell said walking up to me and sitting next to me.

"Nah she's just going to get me to dance with Olivia and I kind of don't feel like hearing Olivia's name when I want to be with Y/N" I admitted. "If I set it up to where you two dance would you do it?" Darnell asked as I looked over at him and chuckled. "What?" I questioned. "If I set it up to where there's no interruptions between you two would you do it?" He asked. "You gotta dance with your girl bro, she really wants to dance with you" Darnell said as I just smiled "yeah what's the plan?" I asked. He then started running the plan by me and it wasn't a bad idea.

Ten o clock hit as I realized Y/N was heading for the exit but I got up jogging after her. "Y/N" I said as she reached for the door but then turned around. "Spencer" she said as I grabbed her hand "what are you doing?" I asked as she laughed some. "I'm about to go home, I booked myself an Uber" she said about to walk out but I stopped her again.

"Come dance with me" I said as she looked passed me "no I don't really need anything getting started" she said trying to go for the door again. "I seen you when you were crying" I said as she turned to look at me. "I just want the last dance of the night to be about you and I" I said before holding my hand out.

She looked between me and my hand then smiled some.

She grabbed my hand as "Die For You" by The Weeknd begun to play. She wrapped her arms around my neck as I held onto her waist.

We just smiled at each other as I felt her rub the back of my neck with her thumb. "You look so handsome" she complimented as I smiled. "Finally a real compliment I had from you all night" I expressed as she laughed "don't do that" She said making me chuckle. "What are you doing after this?" I asked looking her in her eyes. "I am going to order some real food" She started off making me laugh.

"Then I'm going to sleep why? You got something planned I don't know about?" She asked. "Looking like a princess or whatever" I joked as she playfully rolled her eyes and I twirled her around making her smile harder.

"I'm surprised didn't nobody interrupt us yet" she brought up. "Don't jinx it" I warned as she immediately tucked her lips in making me smile.

I pulled my phone out as her and I took a picture with each other. "Send me that" she said as I smiled at it. "This is nice" I admitted. "We finally got our first dance in front of everyone with no interruptions" She brought up. "SHUSH!" I expressed beginning to shush her again. "We almost finished with the song stop jinxing it" I said making her laugh. She then just laid her head on my chest as I pulled her closer.

I then seen Darnell smiling big at us as I smiled back. The song soon ended as the whole Cotillon ended. I placed my suit jacket over Y/N's shoulders as we started walking out of the building. "That was fun" she said as I agreed "that was the most fun I had all night" I admitted as she smiled and looked over at me. "You want to go out for some Sonics" she started off "you know after we change?" She asked as I smiled.

"Nah because I'm breaking your rules of seeing you after nine" I teased "that ain't even one of the rules" she said between her laugh as I smiled. We then started to hear someone fire gunshots as I turned back and seen someone shooting towards Y/N. I immediately jumped in front of her as we fell to the ground.

I then felt pain to the side of my chest as I looked down seeing myself begun to bleed out. "Spencer" Y/N said immediately sitting up off the ground as she looked at my chest and immediately started to scream and apply pressure to it. "SOMEBODY HELP!" She screamed and cried as I just looked up at her. "SOMEBODY CALL 911!" She yelled. "Spencer just keep your eyes open" she said through her tears.

Someone rushed beside us calling 911 as Y/N held my hand and continued to apply pressure to where I was bleeding. I soon just closed my eyes.
