Chapter 196 What Is Our Relationship?

Eric was taken aback by Kate’s sudden praise. He chuckled softly and said, “Back then, it wasn’t just me. Lucas and the others were there, too. I didn’t work as tirelessly as you did.”

After wheeling to the sofa, Eric pushed himself up with one hand. With a slight turn, he sat down

the sofa, right next to Kate.

Kate let out a contented hum as she snuggled into Eric’s embrace. She inhaled his cool pine scent and felt much of her fatigue dissipate.

Eric’s large hand naturally settled on Kate’s waist, massaging gently to ease her weariness.

Comfortably closing her eyes, Kate whispered sleepily, “The studio has just begun. I still need to handle many things personally.”

Eric’s eyes held a trace of amusement as he genuinely said, “You did a great job, Kate.”

He wasn’t just trying to make her happy; he genuinely meant it.

Although George had been advising Kate and helping with tasks, Kate had done the majority of the work herself.

Only then did Eric realise how much Kate had grown, even when he wasn’t paying attention. She had picked up

his temperament and style of handling things, nearly mastering them, and was now capable of standing on her own.

Kate laughed lightly when she received the praise. She said, “Because I have a wonderful teacher. How could a student taught by you be anything less than excellent?”

Eric’s eyes darkened a little, and he asked in a low voice, “Teacher?”

Kate shifted in his arms to find a more comfortable position that wouldn’t aggravate Eric’s injury. Then, she replied with a smile, “Of course. I learned from you. I’ve watched your meeting videos ten times.”

Eric looked down at the slightly smug woman in his arms, his lips tightening as he asked, “So, what is our relationship?

His voice was slightly cold, and his brows furrowed, clearly displeased.

Kate finally realised what she had said. She opened her eyes to see his unhappy face, and she couldn’t help but laugh. She sat up and leaned in to kiss him on the lips, saying, “We’re husband and wife.”

Eric’s eyes deepened. He pulled Kate back by the nape of her neck and deepened the brief kiss.

Kate was already exhausted from the day. She felt her body turn to jelly. By the time Eric let her go, she was breathless and limped into his arms. She shot him with a slightly reproachful look.

Kate’s stomach growled audibly; she then slumped in Eric’s arms. She patted her empty stomach and looked up at him with a pitiful expression. “Eric, I’m hungry.”

Just as she finished speaking, the kitchen door opened. The housekeeper. Betty, came out with a serving cart.

Kate’s eyes widened in surprise.

“Enjoy your meal, ma’am. Mr. Eric instructed us to prepare this for you. Please consume it while it’s still hot, as it’s freshly prepared.

Betty looked at the two snuggling together, her face beaming with a warm, knowing smile.

After speaking, she thoughtfully stepped back and left the room.

Kate felt a warm glow in her heart. Betty had prepared all her favourite dishes, including a small piece of cake.

She picked up the spoon and took a sip of the broth. Then, she scooped up a spoonful and held it to Eric’s lips. She coaxed. “Eric. try this. It tastes really good today.”

Eric had already eaten dinner, though not much.

While Kate was occupied with her work and running around. Eric continued to work diligently from home. Kate often had to go out, and her return times were unpredictable.

She had made Eric promise to eat on time. If he didn’t, she would be upset.

After two incidents of Kate getting upset. Eric began eating on time.

After all, if he didn’t eat properly.

His beloved wife would sleep in the guest room.
