After hanging up the call with Holly, Ruth let out a smirk. She calmly placed her phone beside her on the bed when suddenly she felt a big hand encircle her waist, drawing her back.

“Hey, Ruth, what’s up?” Simon murmured close to Ruth’s ear.

Ruth couldn’t help but let out a small laugh before replying, “It’s all Terresa’s fault. She couldn’t even get anything worthwhile from Kate. She left herself wide open and got caught by Kate, of all people.”

“So when my mom asked for tips, I saw an opportunity.”

Ruth’s smirk grew more expansive, hinting at something scheming.

Simon was briefly caught off guard before he smirked and gently squeezed Ruth’s waist, teasing, “Ruth, you are ruthless and heartless. I mean, she’s your mom.”

Ruth rolled her eyes. “So? Just because she’s my mother doesn’t mean anything. She’s from a simple background, and because of that, people look down on me too. You don’t get it. My whole life has been filled with disdain because of her. If she’d put in more effort in her day. I wouldn’t have to deal with people’s judgmental stares.”

“Then there’s Kate, acting all high and mighty just because she was born into privilege?”

As they neared a traffic light intersection, a massive truck blatantly ignored the red signal and barreled right towards them.

George instantly jerked the car to the side, trying to avoid the truck, which kept on its path without any hint of stopping.

“Damn it,” George muttered, frustration clear in his voice as he sharply turned the wheel and floored the accelerator.

Their car shot forward, but the truck was relentless. Despite George’s efforts, the car slammed into the back of their vehicle with a loud “Bang!”

The impact hit with a serious bang, nearly tossing Kate out, but Eric acted fast, yanking her back. to safety and wrapping her up in a tight hug.

The car did a few wild spins before finally stopping. Its trunk was busted open and wrecked.

Meanwhile, the truck didn’t fare any better, slamming into a wall on the opposite side. Its front was totally smashed in!
