The long eyelashes gently resting on closed eyelids.

Unconsciously, Kris reached out and gently stroked the girlâs soft hair.

The girl squirmed slightly, her expression briefly uneasy, like a baby bird shifting in its nest. Kris licked her lips and pulled her hand back from the girlâs hair.
She must still be tiredâafter all, she had gone to bed late last night.
Careful not to wake her, Kris quietly pulled back the blanket, got up, and then tucked the blanket snugly around the girlâs body once again.
Kris sat on the living room sofa, sipping coffee while scrolling through the internet.
