Chapter 167
Mr. Neal, Mrs. Neal’s Gone With The Money
Chapter 167
Cynthia noticed that Ellora clearly understood the situation, so she did not bother with it any further.
Later, she prepared a room for Ellora and took her to buy some clothes.
By the time they were done, it was already past five oâclock.
If it were not for Moses phone call, Cynthia would have almost forgotten about the dinner at Old Neal
Manor tonight. She quickly briefed Ellora on some matters and hurriedly made her way there.
When Cynthia arrived, it was already past seven oâclock.
âYouâre young, but you surely are arrogant. Do you think itâs appropriate to make all of us wait for just
you?
a man who resembled Joshuaâs father spoke up.
Cynthia recognized this person. He was Joshuaâs uncle, Henry Neal.
The Old Neal Manor was very lively tonight. Besides Old Man Neal, Joshuaâs parents, Felix and
Daphne Neal, Felixâs second brother and his wife, Henry and Lilian Neal, as well as Felixâs third brother
and his
wife, Duane and Irene Neal, and their children were there.
Being late was indeed her fault, so Cynthia simply apologized to the crowd, âIâm sorry.â
âApologizing is something anyone can do. This is the Neal family. Donât think that just because youâve
married into the Neal family by marrying Joshua, you can disrespect your elders,â Henry continued,
showing his disdain toward Cynthia as she had no prestigious background.
Old Man Neal could not stand anyone speaking ill of his beloved Cynthia. Before he could reprimand
Henry, a deep and somewhat chilly voice suddenly sounded, exuding a strong sense of pressure.
âUncle Henry, it would be better if you directed those words at yourself.â
âWhat do you mean?â Henry was displeased.
âCynthia is a part of my family,â Joshua said.
Cynthia was confused.
Old Man Neal, Felix, and Daphne appeared satisfied. It was evident that they were pleased with
Joshuaâs actions.
Henry, unaware of Old Man Nealâs fondness for Cynthia, kept badmouthing her. âDad, look at what
Joshual has become now. He disrespects his elders for a woman who only knows how to climb the
social ladder. Clearly, Felix and Daphne failed to educate him properly.â
Felix casually glanced at Joshua and calmly remarked, âIndeed, we havenât taught our children to
behave as Henry does.â
Everyone remained quiet.
They all knew that Henryâs son, George Neal, was a complete failure!
He was useless in business and poor in academics. All he knew was to enjoy himself, never doing
anything productive.
For a moment, there was a strange atmosphere in the hall.
Joshua held Cynthiaâs hand and sat down next to Old Man Neal, looking at Henry as he said, âIf you
could make George stay out of trouble, Cynthia and I wouldnât have arrived so late.â
âWhat happened?â Old Man Neal played along.
âGeorge got into a fight that landed him at the police station. He claimed that the CEO of the Neal
Group was his brother. If it werenât for dealing with his mess, we wouldnât have been late,â Joshua said.
Old Man Neal coughed lightly.
This kid was lying so nonchalantly. Did he really think Old Man Neal was unaware that he had parked
his car outside Old Neal Manor and waited for Cynthia for over an hour? Henryâs face turned red, and
Lilian could not hide her embarrassment either.
Moses, being mischievous, commented, âGetting into fights and causing trouble at the police stationâ¦
Uncle Henry, Auntie Lilian, youâve done a great job raising your son.â
âMoses, thatâs quite impolite to say, isnât it?â a girl of about eighteen years old interrupted. She was
Duaneâs daughter, Kimberly Neal.
âHave you and Joshua ever got involved in fights? What about Cynthia?â
âNo, we actually havenât,â Moses replied earnestly.
The matters between the children were left to themselves, without the interference of the elders. Ever
since Old Man Neal handed over control of the Neal Group to Joshua, Henry and Duane both showed
their disagreements.
