Chapter 226
Mr. Neal, Mrs. Neal’s Gone With The Money
Chapter 226
She could not let someone else take the blame for her!
Michelle listened to their discussions without paying them any attention. The reason she had asked
Jonathan to come, besides dealing with that arrogant woman earlier, was to let these people know who
was behind her.
They were always asking her to work
Was she here just to work?
Compared to the bustling discussions outside, the meeting room seemed much quieter.
Jonathan sat awkwardly in front of Cynthia, feeling lost, like a child who had done something wrong.
âCyn⦠things arenât what you think. Michelleâs mom was worried that Michelle couldnât find a job, so
suggested she try at the Yates Group. There was absolutely no intention of using connections,â
Jonathan explained, not wanting her to misunderstand too much
âDoing three sets of proposals in two months, one still unfinished, two deemed unsatisfactory, with a
monthly salary of 3,000 USD, and you call that not using connections?â
Jonathan fidgeted with his fingers, feeling very uneasy. He could not exactly tell Cynthia that he and
Michelleâs mother, Mandy Quinn, were together, and he was sort of Michelleâs stepfather. Hence, it was
only natural for him to arrange some work for Michelle since he had the capability.
Nonetheless, he knew that if he said that, he might never have a relationship with Cynthia again.
Cynthia⦠had always resented him.
âCynâ¦â Jonathan did not know what to do anymore.
âSheâs fired,â
Cynthia did not give any room for negotiation.
Jonathan felt extremely aggrieved but still tried to reason with her. âThe Yates Group is a big company
that can afford to support her.â
âThe Yates Group has always been about appointing and promoting based on merit. Are you willing to
break the rules for your new daughter?â Cynthia was concerned and angry about this.
âNor
New daughter?! He only had two precious daughters!
âIf Michelle truly had the ability, I wouldnât say anything. But she lacks diligence, seriousness, and even
resorts to using her status as a threat. The Yates Group wonât keep such a person,â Cynthia spoke
sincerely.
âHuh?â Jonathan looked bewildered. Cynthiaâs description of Michelle was completely different from
what he knew.
Cynthia raised an eyebrow, wondering what was going on.
Jonathan replied, âFrom what I know, although Michelle may not be as smart as you, sheâs always
been diligent and hardworking, very honest and downâtoâearth.â
He realized that Cynthia did not like hearing about it and quickly got to the point, I saw her researching
and working on documents when I visitedâ¦â

Cynthia closed the contract in her hand.
It seemed like she had just gotten rid of Jayleen, and now she had Michelle.
âI didnât expect her to pretend to be obedient in front of me,â Jonathan continued, carrying a hint of
seriousness.
Cynthia froze, then blurted out a sentence without much thought or rationality. âYou believed in what I
said?â
Perhaps she had faced too much distrust from Joshua, or maybe it was the constant
misunderstandings she had experienced recently. When she heard those words from Jonathan, her
heart skipped a beat.
âYouâre my daughter. Who else should I believe if not you? Iâm your father. Donât you think I should
know your character best?â Jonathan made his point very clear,
Cynthia always spoke her mind and never accused anyone wrongly.
He understood her.
âDonât worry. I talk to Mandy about this matter.â Jonathan understood Cynthiaâs stance and took the
initiative for the sake of their father daughter relationship. âIn a couple of days. Iâll transfer Michelle
somewhere else and let her undergo training to learn some skills.â
