Chapter 442
Mr. Neal, Mrs. Neal’s Gone With The Money
Chapter 442
âSis, I love you!â With Cynthiaâs approval, she felt confident about their fatherâs.
âI may be busy on the 6th. I have something to take care of,â Cynthia clarified, not wanting to inflate
Shirleyâs expectations.
âNo, itâs on the 7th.â Shirleyâs eyes tw inkled with joy, and she was over the moon.
Cynthia paused mid-chew. The 7th? Was that not the same date as Captainâs return?
Shirley noticed her sisterâs change of expression. âWhatâs wrong?â
âNothing.â Cynthia did not want to disappoint her sister, so she reassured her, âJust let me know the
details once you guys have decided on a place.â
She decided that after meeting Shirley and her boyfriend on the 7th, she would head directly to the
airport. Nexuria was a large place; she should not cross paths with the Captain.
Cynthia felt at ease with that thought. The next day, Jonathan returned. Neither of them brought up the
matter of Mandy, and their days continued as usual
And before they knew it, it was the 6th Cynthia woke up early, not only bringing her paperwork but also
something for Old Man Tanz. She decided to drive herself, not wanting to trouble the driver. After
reporting her license plate to Old Man Tanz she drove to the military compound, following the familiar
route to Tanzâs residence.
Arriving at the Tanz residence a little past nine, she was warmly welcomed by Old Man Tanz. âFinally,
youâve come to see this old man. How long has it been?
Cynthia handed over the package. âI am sorry. Thatâs why I came to apologize, isnât it?â
âApology accepted, but these presents are a little excessive, donât you think?â Old Man Tanz feigned
displeasure, then immediately invited her to a game of chess, growing bored with his usual
companions.
âSure.â
A soldier soon brought the chessboard. Old Man Tanz took the white pieces while Cynthia played with
the black
Under normal circumstances, Old Man Tanz detested chatter during a game; he believed in
concentration. However, this time,
he broke his own rule.
A few dozen moves into the game, while pondering his next move, he casually asked Cynthia, âDo you
have someone you like?
âNo,â Cynthia replied, focused on the game.
âWhat if I introduced you to someone?â Old Man Tanz suggested, already considering a young man
named Quier who had
visited him earlier.
Cynthia paused, her hand hovering over the board
âI assure you, heâs a nice person,â Old Man Tanz added.
âI was married before, and I only got divorced recently. I donât have plans to get into another
relationship for now,â Cynthia explained, not wanting him to worry unnecessarily.
Old Man Tanz paused. The pieces remained untouched on the board as his brow furrowed. âWhen did
this happen?
