Chapter 454
Mr. Neal, Mrs. Neal’s Gone With The Money
It was not about trying to please her, but it felt strange nonetheless.
âTake it.â Matthew pushed the breakfast into her hands without hesitation, saying, âI really donât know
what goes on in your head.â
Cynthia was rendered speechless by his remark and internally scoffed at it.
Well⦠It was because Matthew had been acting so out of character. In the past, she would have to go
hungry if she was late or had not completed a task, and not only that, she would face additional
penalties.
Yet now, Matthew was directly delivering food to her.
How could she not read into it? Maybe this was his way of punishing her because of the incident last
time⦠Could it be herâ last mealâ?
The more Cynthia thought about it, the more convinced she became
Finally, she blurted out, âCaptain, just be straightforward with me.â
She was sure that Matthew was indirectly punishing her because she called him as if he were an
antidote.
He wanted to put psychological pressure on her, and he definitely succeeded.
Matthew gritted his teeth, genuinely wanting to give Cynthiaâs wild imagination a good scolding.
Why did she have to misunderstand his good intentions?
âWhat do you mean by that?â Matthew retorted.
Cynthia looked up at him, pursed her lips, and after a few moments, managed to utter, âYou know it
yourself.
âEat your breakfast,â Matthew said, placing his hands into his pockets and still looking handsome. âStop
overthinkingâ
Cynthia took a few steps back, slightly hesitating, before closing the door.
Matthew felt both frustrated and amused.
What an idiot.
Cynthia had mixed feelings about this.
It was not surprising that she was overthinking, mainly because the Matthew she remembered from her
past and the current Matthew were too different.
Cynthia only remembered Matthew as the captain who constantly set traps for her at Old Man Tanzâs
place.
However, Matthew had been acting really differently these days⦠and it felt like a complete deviation
from that memory, and it was unsettling.
Lost in thought, Cynthia looked at the breakfast that Matthew forcefully shoved into her hand and made
a call.
Jimmy answered the call, still groggy from sleep.
His voice was soft and m uffled as he asked, âCynthia, why are you calling me at such an hour?â
âIf Captain were to bring you breakfast, how would you feel about it?â Cynthia asked.
Jimmyâs eyes instantly widened. âWho?â
âCaptain.â
â1-Iâve been on my best behavior lately.â Jimmyâs mind cleared up completely, and a shiver ran down
his spine. âI havenât done anything wrong.â
Was it because he complained to the others about Matthew being too strict, and they sold him out?

D mn it!
What a heartless bunch!
Was it too late for him to buy a plane ticket and run away now?
âCynthia, where is Captain? Is he bringing brealdast for me now? Jimmy quickly asked, getting dressed
in a matter of seconds, ready to sneak away.
âNo.â
âThatâs good, then.â
Jimmy felt slightly relieved, but his hands swiftly started parking his luggage.
Then, Cynthia added, âHe just brought it to mr.â
Thud!
Jimmy stood there dumbfounded, not even bothering to pick up the fallen picture frame.
He suddenly became serious and said, âMaybe you should buy a plane ticket and leave as soon as
possible. Donât attend the gathering tonight.â
âIs it that terrifying?â Cynthia thought he was exaggerating
âIâll ask in the group chat. Youâll know if itâs terrifying or not once you read their reply.â Jimmy suddenly
felt sorry for Cynthia.
What had she done to deserve this?
