Chapter 51
Mr. Neal, Mrs. Neal’s Gone With The Money
Chapter 51
Jimmy replied to Shirley, [Thatâs because Iâm the apple of Cynthiaâs eye.]
Jimmy replied to Mitchell, [She didnât.]
[Dwarf 1: Youâre living the life, man! Did you get your idolâs autograph?]
[Dwarf 2: What the hell! This is unfair! I asked Cynthia to take me, but she didnât!]
[Dwarf 3: Youâre so excited about just watching a race. I didnât even say anything about sleeping with
Cynthia!]
Jimmy replied, [Shut up!]
[Dwarf 1: Stop being bitter because youâre single!]
[Dwarf 2: Stop being bitter because youâre single!]
[Dwarf 3: Stop being bitter because youâre single!]
Jimmy got angrier as he read the comments. He was so mad that it showed on his face while he sat in
the passenger seat.
âCynthia, theyâre making fun of me for being single!â
âItâs okay. Iâll be the same as you soon,â Cynthia said.
Jimmyâs eyes lit up,
a little.
and he replied to the others with what Cynthia had said, and his anger dissipated
Cynthia drove around the suburbs for a few laps and only returned home around one oâclock in the
morning.
She lay in bed, finally feeling calm and composed.
She realized a profound truth that she was quite happy with her life as a single person. She had friends
to keep her company when she was unhappy and friends to share her joy.
A romantic relationship was not a necessity in life.
In the following days, Cynthia continued to live in a carefree state. Most of her time was spent studying
the information her father gave her. If it were not for the call from Jiverton, she could have
stayed in Nexuria until the day she received her divorce certificate.
When Mrs. Neal Senior called, Cynthia initially did not want to answer, but she gave in when the phone
rang for the second time.
âHello, Cynthia?â
âYes, Mom.â
âCan you come to Nexuria?â Mrs. Neal Senior knew Cynthia had gone to Jiverton, and her tone

reflected her complicated emotions. âOld Man Neal was infuriated by what Joshua did to you, heâs
currently still in critical condition.â
and
Cynthiaâs grip on the phone tightened. Old Man Neal was extremely kind to her, even better than her
own grandfather.
âOkay.â
After hanging up the phone, she told Jimmy and Shirley.
Shirley could not help but feel worried and asked, âCynthia, can I come with you?â
Cynthia was gentle with Shirley. âIâm going there for errands, but we can go to Jiverton together when
itâs your school break, okay?â
âIf you need anything, call me. Donât bear it alone.â
âOkay.â
âCynthia!â
âYes?â
âIâm not just your sister, but Iâm also your confidant.â
Cynthia paused and walked over to ruffle Shirleyâs hair, smiling softly. âGoodbye.â
Shirley insisted on driving her to the airport, and Cynthia did not stop her.
When she arrived in Jiverton, it was already three oâclock in the afternoon.
Cynthia called Mrs. Neal Senior from the taxi and went straight to the hospital after finding out where
they were. By the time she arrived, Old Man Neal had been transferred to the ward, and he was awake.
However, he still looked pale and was not as lively as before.
âCynthia?â Mrs. Neal Senior was the first to notice her.
Cynthia brought along Old Man Nealâs favorite fruits and some health supplements. After putting the
things down, she greeted everyone.
Apart from her and Mrs. Neal Senior, there was only Old Man Neal and Joshua
Chapter 52
Joshuaâs demeanor was somewhat calmer, dressed in a meticulously tailored black pinstripe suit, his
handsome features creased with a hint of gloom. However, the palm print on his face was the most
striking part.
Did Old Man Neal do that?
âCynthia, come here.â
Old Man Nealâs mood improved slightly upon seeing her.
Cynthia walked over.
She was genuinely worried about Old Man Neal. In their two years of knowing each other, she had
found him to be a very interesting person, knowledgeable, and not at all oldâfashioned.
They had developed a true grandfatherâgranddaughter relationship.
âI know about your situation,â Old Man Neal took Cynthiaâs hand, his eyes filled with guilt. âIt was our
familyâs fault⦠I failed to educate that boy properly.â
âThis is his fault. It has nothing to do with you or the Neal family,â Cynthia comforted him softly.
Joshua was taken aback by her choice of words.
Old Man Neal felt even more complicated, feeling increasingly guilty toward Cynthia.
Cynthia was such a good girl, yet Joshua was too foolish to appreciate her!
âDonât worry, as long as Iâm alive, that woman will never enter the Neal family. If he dares to act
recklessly, Iâll end my life in front of him,â Old Man Neal spoke sternly.
âGrandpaâ¦â Joshua looked disapprovingly.
Old Man Neal did not even glance at Joshua, truly angry with him.
Cynthia was also shocked by Old Man Nealâs words, and she consoled him again, âGrandpa, thatâs not
a good idea.â
âDo you have a better idea?â
âYes.â
âLetâs hear it.â
âYou should stay healthy and lively. That is the greatest deterrent,â Cynthia suggested.
âIs that so?â
Cynthia coaxed, not wanting to upset him, âOf course. If the family of the person I like doesnât approve
of me, Iâll be trembling with fear, and Iâll back down when I hear their family membersâ
names.â
